  1. What kind of T-Mobile plan do you have? I've been with them for years, and at some point before I joined they've had free international text & data (not calls). For cellular at sea (the cruise ship tower) they don't do data at all, and you only get charged for outgoing SMS and phone calls.

It has come in very handy when I've traveled abroad.

Plus now, Canada, Mexico, US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico include calling as well.

  2. I'm sure you're onboard now and soon will make your way to your room. I think you'll LOVE it! It's like a Jr. Suite without a balcony (and zero suite perqs) and a funky bathroom. The grab bars in the shower were everything to me.

It sounds like you don't have a mobility scooter or rollator? That will make access to the room easier. The doors are not self-opening and they are HEAVY. Plan accordingly, and enjoy.

  3. This is getting frustrating. I’ve been on board Radiance for the past 15 days and the Casino Host and Casino Manager know about as much as us. The Casino Host told me yesterday (April 1 in AU) that the new program has been introduced but all she could tell me is that it’s being “tested” on a few ships but not ours. When I said that didn’t make any sense and asked for details, she couldn’t tell me any more.

Hi Sue, I've been thinking of you! Hope you're well!

  4. That’s no longer an issue as Royal no longer leaves water in the stateroom or soda and snacks in the minibar.

I noticed that the article is a "rerun" but I didn't realize that the practice had stopped. I was sure I had water on my desk when I cruised in October but I just looked at the photos I took of my cabin and that part was left out.

When did the change take place? Were they "shamed" into it, do you think?

  5. So, lets talk about the cost of hotels. A hotel in Sydney is expensive to where I live, but a hotel in Sydney is cheap compared to a hotel in NY, London, Tokyo, Paris, Vienna, Singapore.

This is just to say, travel half a world a way is not by definition cheap. Getting to Oz is expensive both in time and money. Do Aussies tip like Americans? I was not aware they had strayed so far from their English cousins....

I thought Sydney was a very reasonable large city compared to many I have visited. If you want cheap go to Prague or Bucharest.

When were you last in Prague? NONONONONO, it is NOT an inexpensive city. It was once, before Czech was chasing EU membership, but no more. Not by a long shot.

(That said, it's still one of the most incredible fairy-tale cities I have ever visited...)

  6.

Fat-shaming is never okay and while I would expect of multiple people here on CC, I would never have expected to see if of the two of you.

It's the last bastion of "acceptable" bigotry.

There's some guy on the Royal Caribbean boards who has declared that anyone who uses a mobility scooter onboard is too fat ("at least 200 pounds overweight," he says) and lazy to walk. Seriously, he said that. I had to back out of that thread FAST because I didn't trust what my fingers would type if I let them anywhere near the keyboard.

  7. Hi if you get chance could you look at cabin 2345. Deck 2 aft, whats around it,

    Thanks, Jack

Hi, I am (obviously) not the OP but I think I can help. I stay in that general location on the Voyager-class ships (outside accessible) and I really like it. It's very quiet and convenient to the elevator bank. You're under a carpeted section of the MDR. There's no noise. I've been in 2620, 2320, and this next time I'm in 2328. I've never felt any vibration or heard any noise even when the door was at the entry to the stairwell. If there is any tiny negative it's that when it gets busy it can be a few minutes before an elevator makes it down to deck two, but it's a rare occurrence. I think you'll be just fine there!

  8. Did you read the article? I started reading until I got to the paragraph that talks about dining. It starts out with "Executive Chef, April Fultz, described dining on Parton of the Seas by saying...." And if you read it all the way to the end, it says "

When will Parton of the Seas set sail?

As much as we wish Parton of the Seas would set sail soon, sadly she won’t make it beyond this blog post…because it’s our annual April Fool’s joke!

    WHAT??? NO CRACKER BARREL????

(Oh, come on. If you didn't get it from the beginning all you have to do is look at the picture with Moses in the prow doing the Parton...)

  9. One more thing to add here. Royal accessible cabins are the size of junior suites and they cost the same as regular balcony cabins. They have lofts suites with an elevator in the cabin for those who are handicap. They were ahead of the curve on handicap friendly public bathrooms etc. as well. This in no way correlates with the idea that they don’t care about elderly handicap people.

Not only that but they have lift chairs in at least one pool and at least one hot tub so less-able guests can enjoy the same benefits as able-bodied cruisers. I am impressed with their accommodation in every way.
