  1. Just to add my voice to the choir, we had a forward facing angled balcony on the Getaway in Oct. It was on deck 12. I would guess they are about 50% larger than the regular balcony...but the regular balconies are small (as many have stated). we liked facing slightly forward and did not notice any huge breeze issue. The extra room was nice for sure.

  2. Just off getaway w/ 3 1/2 yo twins. They did everything Nick. Yes PJ BFAST which we did and my kids loved is a fee. Photo opps at least 3 different days. Dora story time. And other stuff w/o characters. Sponge bob did show up at the sail away party. Met Diego in atrium one night And Dora did show at splash academy one evening...though it wasn't announced. I was very impressed with the Nick events. No it wasn't disney but was very nice.

  3. Just s follow up to help others. We are back and yes Coral World was great for my kids 3 1/2. Not a huge amount of walking and a lot of fun things to see. Beautiful views as well. coki beach is right next door. It was crowded and we didn't go as my kids don't like walking on sand 😕. About 10 bucks pp cab there, easy to get from pier and the drive there and back over the mountains was half the fun for kids. Good experience overall

  4. Two quick questions:

    1. I heard that the POM parking garage takes only cash up front...is this true? I remember it was years ago, but dont recall last year when I was there. We will be leaving from terminal C if that matters.

    2. A member of our party said there is a fifty pound weight limit for suitcases like on airplanes. Is this true? Also, a 2 bag max pp?

Any and all info appreciated...we leave in 2 days!!!

  5. I have never parked in a private lot not in the port before but some that we are traveling with found a great deal on www dot safecruiseparking dot com. $55 for the week sounds well, too good to be true. Any experience with this. Its quite a savings, BUT I am traveling with kids and probably a lot of luggage so I want something safe, and a reliable shuttle to and from. Any and all info appreciated.//COLOR]

  6. A quick question. Consider and aft area cabin on deck 14 of CARIBBEAN PRINCESS. Does anyone know for sure if there are doors that lead out from the aft cabin area to the aft pool. Looks like there is. If so, does anyone have any experiences back there? Thinking an inside cabin back there won't be bad if I can get right out to the deck. Hope that all makes sense. Any help appreciated.

  7. Thank you all. With final payment due tomorrow we are getting really excited. (Not about the payment, but the trip :)). We just booked the Nickelodeon pajama breakfast thing. Did any of you try that? We are also debating what to do in port. (St Maartin, St Thomas). We were thinking maybe a glass bottom boat, thought the kids would like to see fish. Hmmm

  8. We haven't been on Getaway but we were on the Breakaway, which is virtually the same ship so I'm sure Splash Academy is very similar. Our dd was three on our trip in June and she went to the club once. She like it and it seemed that there was a lot for the kids to do. They have a lot of scheduled activities like pirate night, fairytale night, Nick Jr characters etc. In the evenings we always went to the dining room for dinner and by the time that was over she didn't really want to go to the club. Do you have any specific questions?

Thanks for the input. I dont think we will use the kids club that much or for any real length of time...maybe an hour or so here or there and maybe for a nice dinner an evening or two. How was the splash pad area and family pool? Also the evening parties...are they ok (early obviously)? The kids love music. Oh, and did the kids club give you a pager or something?

  9. We are booked on the Getaway in October with our 3yo twins. From everything I've seen the kids program looks great. We have never cruised with kids before. Any personal experiences on NCL, specifically the Getaway with young kids in the Splash Academy? Any info or tips you only get from experience?

  10. This is great! Thanks so much for posting this. We have this exact cabin in October. Can't wait. I had heard you could fit a lounger out on the angled balcony. Do you think so? I bet the forward facing angled made for great views!!!

  11. My family and I will be on the Getaway in October and I have just switched over to a family balcony with a "bump out" balcony. Does anyone have any experience with these. Ours will face forward so Im thinking there will be a nice breeze. How much larger are they? Any info at all would be helpful. I think I made a good choice...did I? :)
