  1. I agree, it definitely has to be held at the lifeboat stations, but something has to be done about the no-shows to avoid everyone else standing there for an additional half hour or so. On our last cruise there were several no-shows, several PA announcements, and all of us who took it seriously had to stand around waiting for those stragglers to eventually turn up. I think they should ignore them, and disembark them when found:D instead of punishing the rest of us.

On a recent Zuiderdam cruise, after making the announcements, the captain announced that anyone who didn't show up would be put off the ship at the first port (which happened to be Half Moon Cay the following morning). We saw several passengers suddenly seating frantically for their stations.

  2. I haven't ever seen them collect money at the overflow lot entrance. I think you pay at the main lot entrance, drive through it, and cross the road to the overflow lot next to the terminal. That's what I did the several times I parked there.

That's what I did earlier this month and returned yesterday.

  3. Was in room 6143, probably the nicest concierge class room on the ship (just home yesterday). Yes, this is the room with the extra 8" width. So.. new flat screen, new carpet, new bed (which I loved but the DW said was to hard) and the HUGE deck. Rust on some bathroom hardware, mirror starting do delaminate from the backside. The sewer smell didn't help but after a couple of days that went away.

All the "Soltisizing" didn't really add anything (let the bashing begin..) Of course there is the fancy frozen bar and some general clean up (which Celebrity claims cost $40M).

The glass panel on the deck rattled continuosly as it was secure with coat hanger wire, a couple of toothpicks wedged in there stopped the noise. All the canvas deck covering needs replacement on the entire ship. Looking aft, you can actually see holes rusted through the pipe secureing the canvas covering.

They took the mini theater out! No movies.

Cruise was excellent, food excellent, service excellent - mostly - new crew and it took a couple of days to get in sync, cruise directory (Steve) was personable, shows good (just hard to find a good comedian these days).

The buffet remains the "walk two city blocks" to see what they have.

Anyway, standard Celebrity (which is good) but just don't expect an Eclipse class ship.

    ps - pizza was excellent

What kind of balcony furniture did you have?

  4. Many thanks to the OP for starting this thread!

We just got back from our July 1 - 10 sailing on the Caribbean Princess. We had C753 corner aft and the kids were just down the small hallway in C747 interior cabin.

It was an AWESOME location for us!! The cabin was great and the views were amazing. The location very quiet and private. I would book this cabin again in a heartbeat!

For anyone interested please check out the videos in my signature below.

There is footage of both C753 & C747 cabins, the balcony & the little hallway leading to the interior cabin from C753. Also any of the wake footage was taken from our balcony. In Part 2 at the very end is the view we had leaving St Thomas. It was just beautiful.

Again thanks for starting this thread. :)

Thanks for the great video. We've had that cabin too.

How did you manage to have the kids in their own cabin?

  5. Obviously I am not great with a computer, but am trying. I have an iPad that I plan to take on next cruise. How do I disconnect from the internet once connected? My experience is that once I access the wifi system wherever I am, it connects automatically as long as I am within the area. It sounds like a great idea to just download the emails and then disconnect.

    Thanks for any help.

    Janet

To be absolutely sure tap settings, tap on wifi and slide the switch to the left (off).

Now you can't get wifi if you wanted to.

When you're ready to go back on just reverse the procedure.

Don't wait until you're on the cruise, try it now.

  6. Currently on the Emerald and will be in FLL early tomorrow AM. I have my iPad with me and my wife has her netbook. We're Elite and each get 250 minutes internet.

I see no difference in connectivity or speed between the two.

Her netbook is easier to browse the net with although we don't really do that when at sea. Doing it now for a quick look and we have over 3 hours time left.

The netbook is also much better to use for skype. We can make a video call. With my iPad I can only do voice although we can get the incoming video. We can talk and we can see them but they can't see us. With the netbook we can see and talk to each other. With the iPad 2 coming out this week that problem will go away. we willo be able to do video too.

Although I have 3G available I hardly use it. At sea I would only use the ship's WIFI.

FYI ...this is sent from the netbook.

  7. You asked me to come back and tell you my opinion of a C753 vs E731.

We sailed Octboer 24 in the C753. Jules and I both liked the cabin and balcony but prefer E731 balcony for us.

Balcony size wise, they are both generous in size. Can't find anything wrong with either in that respect. We had 6 of us one night at sailaway on C753 and no problems. E731 is just as generous. I am just comparing balcony size, of couse E731 is a mini suite and has more interior room but I am only comparing balconies.

Jules didn't like the lack of breeze on the aft. I was fine without the wind blowing.

It was unbearably hot on our return trip with the sun beating down on us the morning we tried to have and balcony breakfast. We had another couple and we ladies ended up going inside to sit on the bed and finish eating as it got way too hot and the lack of breeze made it uncomfortable. Had we ordered the balcony breakfast in the early days of our cruise we would of been fine. We enjoyed our coffee in the morning out there until the last 2 days to return.

I did find sun on the aft balcony and was able to lay out. Even though it is fully covered there were still sunny spots

When sailing in E731 we feel we get enough wake view plus the additional side view. We often felt like we were missing something not being able to see towards the front.

The wake is loud. E731 gives you a less noisy ride.

I don't think down the line we would book this cabin again. If money is not an issue we would go for the mini on the Emerald with the 2 ends always being the first choice. If we are bargain hunting would just book the lowest balcony cabin and take our chances. If I was upgraded to this area I would be OK, not so sure about DH.

If you love the aft this is the quietest location you will find on the ship. One day the room service girl came in and looked around and exclaimed she didn't know that the cabin was back there. VERY QUIET!

Did you have a lot of wind in E731?

  8. We completed the Eastern caribbean cruise on the Ruby last friday (4th Dec)

My wife and I were in cabin R748 and whilst everything else about the cruise was absolutely fantastic this cabin is not for people who want privacy.

We were subjected to people from the Dolphin pool deck looking into our balcony, from the Caribe deck above us and from the deck above that, all had unobstructed views down into our balcony.

Added to this (The Cherry on the cake) there was a camera (probably linked to the bridge) also looking down into the balcony.

Other issues included finding food on the balcony floor from the deck above and also on one occasion I was splashed (I assume by a person having a drink) on my arm.

Despite complaints and requests to move I was told that the ship was full and no other staterooms were available.

I shall be writing to the company as I believe there is much that can be done to ensure more privacy in these cabins (I assume R750 suffered the same issues).

The ship was fantastic, the staff very good and every thing else was of a very good standard.

I have taken photographs and when I have a minute I will download them.

We would definately go with Princess again but not in either of these cabins!!!!!:(

Thanks for an interesting and informative post. I had considered these cabins a while ago and after a lot of research (couldn't obtain anything concrete) decided against it.

Last month on the Ruby I made it a point to check on these cabins and agree with everything you've said. A very poor accommodation. No more privacy than a chair around the pool
