Yes, but with reservations there's less of a chance you'll have to wait. Or you may not have to wait as long.

In our experience, you will not be the only one to be seated at the selected time and you may have to wait too. 🙂

We have not had a select time, stood in lone with everyone. People in front of us had selected time and they were seated, we got seated right after them and we did not have a selected time.

Social Media is one of the best sources of video evidence and often it's obtained far quicker (sometimes live-streamed) than the major news outlets.  However, you are correct that someone posted "I heard from my friend's sister..." it should be taken with a huge grain of salt

OMG.... edited and/or clipped to make the point of the user.

We are in such a mess because of social media misinformation and disinformation and people believe it to be the truth LOL

After looking at the report.  They punted and #FAILED.

The social media posts provided metadata that provided the position of the ship from multiple posters  and the position of the drones and the position of other ships that provided pictures.

The data provided on social media should have exonerated Celebrity or provided guilt.  I am OK with either one.  Just provide real science and engineering. It is not my ship and I do not live in Hawaii.

    The state #Failed.

Just looking at the god's eye view or overhead picture if looks like they were 1000 feet from shore.  Say it was 1800 ft.  Maybe.  Over 2000 feet BS.

Yet again IFF Celebrity was in the right they would have provided their navigational TSPI for proof.

Yup, the perfect correct source of all news.....social media. LOL

Therein lies the problem with our society today...hearsay is the truth, not official investigations.

Better late than never, and I stand by my original statement here.

Your statement was debunked by the report. "

It's all over and done with.

"The state will not pursue criminal charges against a cruise ship after it was reportedly “too close” to Kauai’s Na Pali Coast earlier this month.

DLNR officials say they “failed to find evidence” that the celebrity cruise line ship actually violated a state rule requiring it remain at least 3,000 feet from shore.""

You seem like the type of person that asks questions after the meeting is adjourned LOL

This was in Celebrity Today every day on our April cruise on Beyond. We didn't witness the mass chair hoggery that we had heard so much about (did see a very few scurrying about while on our early morning track walks) so wondered if there had maybe been a crackdown. I would take the Celebrity Today to guest services and ask why they are not following through.

Been on many cruises and this is a rule never enforced. LOL

I certainly wish it was though 🙂

Also simple Google searches turn up the Hawaii law that is the source of the legal restrictions.  Easy to find.

To the post above, I realize port changes happen all the time, but here aren't the changes seemingly a direct result of Celebrity/ship's actions?  Or were the schedule changes due to weather or known prior to departure?

    No, that is conjecture.

Weather is often the factor but, port decisions by the port authorities are also a factor.

We just took a LA to Miami, through the Panama Canal cruise and were supposed to have an overnight in Panama City but the day before that, it was announced that we would not be doing the overnight and it was the port that decided it so, we anchored overnight.

Folks that had ship excursions were refunded. Those with private tours were told to submit claims to Celebrity.

What context would you like to see when you see reefs close to the ship?

Look, all I am saying is that videos, depending when they are taken, can be as misleading as opinion and rumour.

I find that this thread is full of speculation, accusation and innuendo. I have said early on, in this thread, that wait till the investigations by the proper authorities are over. Even out resident Captain agrees with that.

Has Edge modified the shipboard schedule and food offerings to adjust for the new schedule and any port cancelation(s) (I can't keep track)?   Fully realize schedule and port cancelations can occur, but the cause here (unless weather is an issue) is entirely Celebrity.

    Food offerings?

Shipboard schedule changes if port is missed happens all the time.

Missed ports are not entirely on Celebrity.  There can be many reasons. Blaming entirely Celebrity is misguided.

The Costa Concordia got into trouble because it went too close to the shore, entered shallow waters, hit a sandbar or underwater ledge and began listing.

If you look at the Napali Coast photos of the Edge, it too is very close to the shore, and according to the aerial photos, was in shallow waters, enough so that it caused sand to be churned.

“Some of the shots that were taken from the air actually showed the sand being disturbed at the bottom so all of these environmental impacts that it created was very upsetting to me,” said Wann

The reason I find this story so interesting is that I will be on the Edge in less than 10 days, and I am also fortunate enough to visit Kauai for a couple of weeks each winter. There will be repercussions for this incident - certainly an environmental fine at the very least.   It will be interesting to see if there will be a change in command on the ship once it arrives in Vancouver, BC.

As I and others have said, speculation is fruitless. Witnesses are unreliable and the investigation will determine what happened.

Some folks wold rather make accusations before they know the details.

Oh and I too spend many winters in Hawaii.

I just got off the Eclipse and I thought it was great! The reviews I read prior to boarding weren't fantastic and I was a bit apprehensive about it, but the ship was lovely. We stayed in the Celebrity Suite and I have zero complaints about the room. Really, I have zero complaints about the entire ship - everything I saw was in nice condition. Service and food was great as well. If you like the itinerary, stick with it!

IO am glad to hear you say that.

I too read reviews that wee far from glowing but attribute it to people overestimating what they were getting (or not getting).

When are you sailing in January?  We are on Eclipse from January 20 through February 8 (b2b).

02 January till 12 January.  Aruba, Curacao and Bonairre with Grand Cayman thrown in . Been on Caribbean cruises a lot and those are 3 places we have not seen.

I was just on Eclipse last week (13 nights around South America) and overall I thought the ship was in excellent condition.

A few lower windows in the forward facing Sky Lounge had lost their inert gas and had become cloudy.

My Balcony cabin 1289 was in good condition except 1 drawer that didn’t close all the way.

With Celebrity spending big on its new ships it’s not surprising they are not paying attention to all the details of the older ships.

The Crew onboard Eclipse are great and the Activities staff are top notch.

I don’t grade food and entertainment as there seems to be a lot of opinions about those .

I will say that I had a great Cruise and many onboard were doing multiple B2B2B’s all the way to New Jersey so that’s a positive?

Great to hear. Thanks a lot.
