  1. My daughter and I are staying at a bed and breakfast post-cruise. The owners get great reviews and a much more personal experience. Bananacourtyard.com is the place, can't give a review as this will be my first time. If you book, tell them Kelly and Shelby sent you. Also, try looking up urbanspoon.com and put in New Orleans. They have places to eat ranging from $-$$$$ and you may look them up per $ or per location, etc.

    Hope this helps..

  2. We are really looking forward to the good eats!! Good to know they are everywhere pretty much! I am going to try a oyster on this trip, so I've read for a newbie on those, best to try a fried one first? Going to get a poboy and go from there!! Always love reading about good places to eat, not on the expensive side tho, have to watch my $, so if you have suggestions I would love to know about them and thank you for taking the time!!

  3. There are only a few which offer shuttle service to the port for free, others charge if they even have it. All will call you a taxi which usually gets you there quicker anyway. Have cruised out of G town several times, always leaving my car at the hotel, never had an issue. I get hotels on Seawall Blvd.

Oh, and welcome to the boards!!

Ask away if you have any ?'s

  4. Thank you for responding. Hmm, well I purchased a groupon and it is now in the lower garden district, I understand we can take a streetcar to get there. I have changed hotels, not even going to the lower garden district now, but thats how I roll lol. Maybe we will, maybe we wont, we will have a good time whatever we do!! Thanks again :)

  5. My daughter and I stayed in the warehouse district and walked to the French Quarter and one night took the taxi back. Would I choose to do that again, nope, not worth it. Like budget said, the central business district (CBD) is a more economical choice and much closer to the french quarter.

  6. Hello everybody,

So far, I have cruised with my daughter (teenager) or with my cousin and her husband, obviously in a different cabin lol. I enjoy having the cabin solo as well as having a roomie. Soon, I'm sure my daughter won't be able to be traveling as much and there is some concern with the additional costs of solo traveling. In a perfect world, I would like to meet Mr wonderful who likes to cruise and enjoy life as we live it, but as mentioned previously, this isn't the case right now lol. Would be nice to have even a travel companion to help with costs and who also likes to enjoy life. I research quite a bit about ports, etc and have no qualms about going solo. I can people watch, enjoy the sun and food and meet people.

It's what you make it to be that counts the most...

  7. I like US Divers, have also used Speedo and Aqua Lung....most of all, all hair needs to be pushed away from face to get a good seal.

Also, they make stuff to keep it from fogging up, if don't want to spend the $, just spit on inside of mask, smear around, rinse out, works like a charm lol.

I am sure I will get flamed on here about this, but it does work :)

  8. Don't worry about that and please don't let it give you a misconcieved perception before boarding. Bad news travels faster then good news. Some people simply can't be pleased and if they didnt talk negative they would be quiet. As mentioned, read about your ports here and on tripadvisor, have a good attitude, and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy. I have never been on a bad cruise and can't even imagine. It is an amazing experience all the way around.
