  1. If she gets sunshined as reported she should get steakhouse, Jijis, Cucina and bonsai!

Jijis wasn't mentioned, and it's only going to be a Bonsai Express per yesterday's announcement.

  2. Just to be safe, check your booking! We were tossed out of our handicapped cabin & placed elsewhere! The top 3 decks are being removed entirely. Newly designed decks will replace them. We just happened to be on a deck that was being replaced.

We did get our cabin back, but it took a few frantic phone calls.

can you clarify what you mean by the top 3 decks are being removed entirely? Based on deck plans, they're moving stuff around, but it looks like there are still cabins where there once were.

Our cabin on lido got reassigned and I'm not sure why since our original cabin appears to still be there.

  3. So far, I've lost FTTF and had my cabin moved to what will be directly below the Waterworks (after getting an email a few days ago with an upsell offer to an Ocean Suitefor the low, low price of $810). A call to Carnival resulted in my being told they can't change, or even access, any existing Sunrise reservations for at least 3 days. She didn't seem to care about my concern that as a person with an existing reservation, I was getting an unfair disadvantage to someone who books today (bookings are open on the website).

  4. I’m booked on an October 2019 sailing. I spoke to Carnival last night and was fine with the message that things would be available again in a few days. Tonight I received an email that my FTTF for the cruise was cancelled per my request. I clearly did not cancel so I have no idea what’s going on.
same here for my cruise in June.

  5. I know there were at least 3 other parties that were eating at the bar during the time we sat there, there may have been 1 or 2 additional groups just having drinks.

Those bartenders were so busy with the drink orders for the dining room, I don't think they could take food orders as well. We had a serving team who was actually quite good; they had a table of 14-16 and other tables as well, but they were spot on. Since we were sitting on the corner of the bar, ordering and such wasn't a big deal physically, but I could see how it might be if you were sitting on the straight parts.

  6. Did the doctor say anything about flying? I know that we had to postpone a trip after my DH had ankle surgery because his doctor said the pressure from flying would swell him up.

I agree with getting something for the duration of the trip, not just for onboard, because getting thru airports, the cruise terminal, etc will be a struggle.

As far as excursions, if you booked thru carnival, their online descriptions are usually informative regarding accessibility.

  7. How was the service? Just asked to be seated at the bar? my wife and I really enjoy sitting at the bar while we eat. I guess its being able to interact with the bar tenders
We did ask at check-in to be seated at the bar. This may have caused some confusion when we got to the dining room because the hostess started to lead us to a table (that was already occupied) until we explained that we wanted to sit at the bar. Then, we weren't 'assigned' seats, so we sat on the corners, like we usually do. This caused some additional confusion because by doing so, we inadvertently sat in 2 different servers' sections. The one server that assisted us assured us it was ok, and took very good care of us.

The bar service was very good as well, and we did interact with the bartenders. One funny thing was that when we ordered our drinks, the one bartender didn't run our card to pay. When we were getting ready to leave, I asked the other one to settle up and she was very confused that we hadn't paid. Thinking about it now, that was odd, I don't think I've ever ordered a drink on a ship and not immediately handed over my card.

It was definitely interesting to watch the bartenders and the wait staff work together, you could tell who got along and who didn't, lol.

  8. We did the egg drop competition on the Horizon last month. It was so much fun, and quite hilarious (ours didn't make it, lol). My husband is really hoping they have it on our next cruise as well.

  9. one thing I just remembered with the Havana talk. One afternoon we were taking the elevator down to 5 and there was a group of three in their late teens/early 20's in bathing suits, with towels. They then walked thru Ocean Plaza loudly proclaiming that they'd better be let into the Havana area, with all the Carnival cruises they've been on, they deserve to hang back there. I was really tempted to follow them and see what happened :giggle:

  10. Not sure how many ports OP paid for, not sure what cabin. But in order to give some answer, let's say OP paid $3000 to visit 4 ports. That's $750. If St Thomas was the only reason to book this cruise, maybe like $2000. At least FAR more than $50.

OP paid for and expected those ports. Whatever extra costs to the line, whatever unfortunate mechanical problems, those simply shouldn't be the guest's problem. Carnival is big enough to pay for the unexpected.

Wait, are you trying to say that cruise fare is 'admission' to the various ports? You aren't paying for your food, lodging, entertainment, etc?

  11. We never felt the crowding was a big issue for us when we sailed on the Sunshine, she’s actually one of our favorite ships. With that being said never got to sail on her as the Destiny (Bummed about that). Excited to see what they will bring to the Triumph, considering she has a majority if not all the 2.0 features, other than the Serenity deck? They also probably won’t add an extra deck considering one was added when she was built. We are planning a cruise next year on her so I’m pretty excited and she was my first ship so all the better. I wonder if and when assuming in 6 years they will Sunshine the Victory.
well, to 'Sunshine' it, in addition to Serenity, they'd have to

    convert/'upgrade' the spa

add the water works and move Camp Ocean to deck 10

remove the pool and retractable roof from 9 Aft and put in the Havana bar

take out deck 3 of the theater and add cabins (and theoretically convert theater to liquid lounge)

take out deck 4 of the mid restaurant and add Library Bar, steakhouse, sushi and piano bar

convert the Oxford Bar to the Limelight Lounge on 4

take out the lounge on 5 Aft and make it more cabins

convert the rest of deck 5 from the casino to the 'new' cabins into Ocean Plaza/Red Frog Pub.

Plus rebrand things like Pixels and JavaBlue/Shake Spot and reconfigure the Lido buffet.

I may be missing some things.

I think the things I'd personally love to see the most are the conversion to Ocean Plaza and the moving/enlarging of Camp Ocean.

  12.

And I thought that people did not like the reduced amount of public space on Destiny-Sunshine. Wasn't the theater made drastically smaller? And some of the other public areas too?

I have been avoiding Destiny-Sunshine, but I really like Triumph. Triumph really needs to refinished inside the cabins.

We were on Sunshine in September, and Horizon last week. By far, the crowded common area issues prevailed on the Horizon; there were simply too many pax.
