  1. The 3rd one down charges for cancellation even if you have a covered insurance issue. I've fought using them for a long time because the on line TA I used for years never charged anything for any changes or cancellations. I finally gave in because their offer for an upcoming cruise was to good to turn down. I've met many folks on cruises who love them and are faithful clients. We shall see 😏

  2. So sorry your brother had a bad experience on his land tour. We did a land tour with Princess and it was fantastic! I think it all depends on your expectations and how your specific land tour is configured. Here's what we did. Flew into Anchorage and the next day took a very comfortable tour bus to McKinley Lodge near Talkeetna. After 2 days there we boarded a train for the Denali Lodge. This was a comfortable Alaska Railroad train with the domed seating area and a dining area on the lower level. Very scenic, but no we did not view wildlife from the train, although some passengers on the other side did see something - I forget what it was. Our bus ride to the end of the road in Denali was something we will never forget. Yes, it was basically a converted school bus and yes our tour was something like 12 hours long, but we were not uncomfortable and we were not bored. The time passed all too quickly. Saw lots and lots of wildlife. Would do it again in a heartbeat. The tour in Denali that came with our package would not have gone very far into the park at all. If we had stopped at that point, we would have seen no wildlife at all! Luckily I read on Cruise Critic to upgrade that tour and that is just what we did and it was easy and fabulous. The train to the cruise ship terminal in Whittier was extremely scenic, but again no wildlife sightings. Would I repeat the same land tour again? Probably not, there are too many other places to see but I would certainly return to Denali. And I in no way regret our land tour. It was the right choice for us at the time.

    Good luck with your planning!:)

What was the tour you actually upgrade too?

  3. We are two senior couples who are looking at a flat in Fulham for five night stay. My DH and I have visited London several times and this time would like to venture out to Cotwold and or Bath on a day trip ( not driving ourselves) The other couple is interested in London center only. Will we be able to find our way easily out of the Fulham area tube and bus? Would we best off by stay in the center of London? The flat initially seemed like a great idea but now we are second guessing... Your thoughts please.

  4. Hello UK cruisers, hopeful one of you would be able to answer a few questions about London area for us. We are 4 seniors living in Central Florida who are planning a transatlantic next year. We plan on staying in London for 5 days prior to flying back. I currently am looking for a B&B to stay at and have been in contact on a site called ATHOMEINLONDON. They've offered a stay in a two bedroom flat, the problem we have it's not in the central London area. It's in FULHAM zone 2. A two minute walk to the West Brampton tube station. How difficult is the transport for ones not at all familiar. Also, are there any reasons we should not stay in or around that area in general. My hubby and I have spent a few days in London from time to time but always in a hotel in the touristy area. The other couple have not been to U.K. At all.

Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated, (you could reply here or directly to dianedon1945 at Yahoo dot com )

    Regards,

    Diane

  5. Our last TA I over packed as usual , however one couple at our table for their extended time in Europe and the 13 day cruise packed in a CARRY ON EACH. They were a lovely couple and always appeared at dinner nicely dressed. I doubt I'll ever achieve that amount of luggage but oh how sweet it would be. No more dragging three suitcases, two carry ons and a C-pap appliance through the airports. 😀

  6. We've had travel agent play with the numbers also, to make it look like you were getting a cabin for a lower price than what the cruise line was offering. Yet they raised the taxes and fees so that the TOTAL payment was exactly the same as the cruise line. That was a real turn off to me...especially if there was any cruise line price drop for the cabin it would never be as low as the agents advertised cabin rate. Major reason we don't book with that agent.

  7. Go on the roll call , see what activities are planned for sea days. We did the Panama Canal a number of years ago in the other direction, it was wonderful. Never felt to long and it was only our second cruise. The CARRIBEAN is great For beaches or water sports or an occasional fishing trip but I'd go with the Canal or Alaska w/ land package to really fall in love with cruising.

    Enjoy whatever you choose.

Ps IMHO... Unless the concierge cabin is a wash (price) with regular balcony..save your money for a few extra drinks or tour.

  8. We were on the Reflection 1/25-2/1, that was not our first time on her. This was the first time I was bothered by the music in the Atrium. It was loud and it was difficult to have a conversation. Perhaps it's their new Modern Luxury idea to draw a more modern clientele.

We admittedly are seniors but were not the only ones who were complaining many younger as well as older people were not pleased. They did have a wonderful group called UNCOMMON GROUND and a guest jazz singer Kelley Broadway who was great, who sang in the theatre, Celebrity Central and the Embassy Lounge. This was the first time we were unhappy with the new sound on any Celebrity ship. Hope it's not a sign of the future changes the line is making.

  9. Find your roll call. We did our first T/A last April . The roll call had folks who organized slot pulls, pink luncheons, trivia teams, games, cards, private tours on the ports, people who traveled to some ports before had group meetings to give hints and hotspots to see. Believe me your days can be as full as you want. The cruiseline will probably host seminars, we had 3 different hosts although we only attended the ones from the Smithsonian I understand the other two were just as wonderful. Then again you can always find a cozy corner to curl up and read a book. We can't wait till we book our next one !

    Enjoy yours :)
