  1. Hi,

We were on the same cruise and during this itinerary we never traveled very far between port so it's a little difficult to gage propulsion problems. I will say that the current Captain is very punctual. If you are supposed to be in port at 8:00 am, They are making an announcement at 8:00 am that the gangway was open. Not 8:01 or 7:55, I have never seen anyone be that precise to a schedule. I will disagree with the vibration comment. Every time they use the forward thrusters there was some significant vibration, much more than I experience on other ships. It even felt like they were using the forward thruster during the one windy night to help steer the ship, because that vibration was noticeable during the night. We certainly did not notice anything that would make me worry. I will echo the OP's comments that it was a great cruise and every aspect of cruise was great.

I agree with your comments although we didn't notice vibration. Also depends on your location. We were midship.

See you are going on oasis and allure. We love those ships. Doing transatlantic on oasis sept. 1. Also taking family New Years cruise!

  2. Just returned last night from 12 days on Silhouette. We are elite with celebrity and have cruised about 80 times with every cruise line.

Our experience was exceptional. Celebrity knows how to put it all together. The s class ships are the best. Our food and dining service was faultless. Recommend the silhouette and reflection to all! (Only 2 solstice class ships I've been on). We've sailed on princess, holland America, Oceania, and every other cruise line. Loved this one for value and quality!!!

  3. We are thinking of taking a verandah guarantee for June 22nd sailing on silhouette. Has anyone done this recently? There is a big price difference (almost $1000pp) if we do this vs. taking an assigned room. We are elite. Anyone out there have any thoughts or experiences?

  4. Terry and Judy,

We did a Game Drive before we boarded the ship in Capetown. We did it in the Sabi Sands area of South Africia. It was absolutely fantastic and I would urge anyone who has 3 spare days to do at least one. I will send all the details in my email to you.

    Jennie

I would love the information from you or anyone else who has done this. My e-mail address is gigi627@bellsouth.net. Thanks, Gloria

  5. We were just looking at new Princess itinerary for 2012. They are offerring the Capetown to Dover trip in May, 2012. Sounds interesting.

Glad to see all the input about this itinerary. We are not familiar with the ports offered. Is there anyway to arrange a safari for a few days between ports? Does Princess ever offer this as an overland trip? Let me know. Thank you.

  6. We also used Denrus last year in St. Petersburg and Berlin. We went on a group tour that was much cheaper than Princess. They were great and everything was taken care of with absolutely no hassle. You do not need a visa if you are on tour with a pre-approved tour group and we did not have any problem getting off the ship immediately.

Hope you have a great time. This was our second cruise to the Baltic and we loved it both times!
