  1. Yeah, I always worry that something will happen last minute to stop us from going - crazy I know. I still have a short list of things to get done for the kids, at work and last minute packing.

I just didn't have time to post any pics before I packed but I will post some of the cruise when we get home. I can't even concentrate, my mind is already cruising.

  2. Indiana71, the look on your face in that picture says it all. You were having a fabulous time and looked great. I think we all must admit that we see someone from time to time and think to ourselves "what were they thinking" going out in public like that? But you are right, as long as we feel good about ourselves, who cares what others think.

I am probably past what most would consider the bikini age but I (and dh) think I look great in one so I am wearing them. All my dresses are either sphaghetti strap or strapless and I have worked hard for these toned arms!

I am so excited, we leave on Thursday and I am packed except for all the little last minute things we are still using. I am about to spend 12 days in the warm sun with the most wonderful dh a girl could ask for. Life is very good!

  3. Indiana71, hope your make-up consult was a sucess. I need to do that, but won't have the time before we leave on Thursday.

ER435, I know exactly what you mean about packing for pre-cruise separate from cruise. We both hate to fly so this time we booked a sleeper car on Amtrak from Raleigh to Miami. We are leaving at 9:00 pm Thursday and will arrive in Miami late afternoon on Friday. We think it will be a fun adventure. Not nearly as worried about losing luggage this way. I packed our carry ons for the trip, one night in Miami and embarkation.

My dh used to make fun of me for my obsessive planning and packing, but now he know everything he needs will be there. I even heard him tell someone the other day that all he has to do is show up because I have everything under control.

Just 3 more working days! Our ds has a basketball tournament out of town this weekend so we will be busy with that until Sunday night. I still have a short list of things to get done next week.

  4. our turn: Good for you! Using the spa and salon is the best way to be pampered - and it sounds like you WILL have lots of pampering! A Sky suite & butler - WaHoo!!

Packing for your son should be easy. Boys don't need all the extra stuff females do:)!

Oh, this kid does. He is worse than any girl when it comes to clothes and shoes. Plus they will be traveling to a basketball tournament while we are gone so I need to pack separate for that.

Just got my comfirmation on the upgrade. It only cost me $300 to upgrade for both segments of the cruise so I am pleased.

Never used the spa much in the past. Any reccomendations?

  5. Great shoes! Also love the top, the color is great on you.

My dh is the greatest, he told me last night to upgrade our cabin to a sky suite. I am on hold right now with the TA. Prices have come down a little since we booked so it isn't going to cost that much more. We will have a butler, how cool is that?

I need to start packing for my 10 year old tonight. He is staying with one of our older sons and his wife while we are gone. First time away from him since the accident so he is a little apprehensive about it. He worries so much now about us when we are not with him. Hope this will help him see that we can go away and will come back just fine. Oh now I'm a mess thinking about being away from him. But it will be good for all of us.

Interesting question about all the beauty products - I do that too. This time though, I am going to make use of the spa and beauty salon. I've been saving for this trip a long time.

  6. Indiana71 - Love the outfit also. Shoes are so cute. Try to remember how you posted so you can tell me how!

  7. Indiana71 - thanks for your kind words. Life is so good, I cheered like a mad woman at my ds ballgames all weekend and just kept smiling because in a little over a week, we will be cruising!

What a fun idea to post these modeling shots. I can't enlarge them on my computer - bummer. Hope to get some of my pics up next week.

  8. Thanks, Lois. We are really excited to sail on the Century. We were supposed to have sailed on the Mercury a while back but had to cancel because of a serious car accident. I haven't figured out how to change my info at the bottom.

I always enjoy your posts on the Celebrity board. We did cruise on the Millennium in '07 and it was my favorite so far.

I feel guilty accepting congrats on the weight loss because most of it was due to the accident I was in. It was a long, hard road back but I am finally able to do most everything now. My husband was also hurt and my MIL was killed. Our world was upside down for a very long time and I know I will savor and appreciate this cruise more.

  9. Indiana71, thanks, it does feel great. I know it shouldn't matter, but I just didn't feel good about myself when I was heavy and just shopped out of necessity.

I snuck in a little more shopping yesterday after picking up DS some basketball shoes. I found an adorable dress at Cache. Oh, and some earrings and a clutch. That called for a strapless bra at Victoria's Secret and then I lost all control!

Our cruise is 2 weeks from today and I still have so much to do. Our DS plays travel AAU basketball. We had 3 games today and have to be back in Durham at 7:30 in the morning. We will be in Charlotte next weekend so I don't know when I will get everything done.

  10. Love this thread! We are leaving 2 weeks from tomorrow for a back to back on the Celebrity Century. I have done a ton of shopping for this cruise because I recently lost 30 pounds and it's just so much fun to finally wear cute stuff.

We are flying this time so I am concerned about luggage weight. Our master bedroom is a complete mess right now since I started "staging" for packing. I have a canopy bed and it's great to hang clothes on between ironing and packing. Of course, my DH is threatening to sleep elsewhere if I don't move the stuff!

So far I have bought 2 bikinis from Venus that I am thrilled with. Boston Proper is great for shorts and capris. I am 5'0 and didn't have to hem them. I bought 1 strappless formal gown, 1 cocktail dress with rhinestone straps, and several sundresses and cover-ups. I'll try to post pics later this week

  11. Ours was in February 1991 on the Nieuw Amsterdam. The ports were Cozumel, Ocho Rios and Grand Cayman. We were in a very small inside room and knew that we wanted to cruise again in a larger suite. Kids, jobs and life in general kept us from doing so until February 2007. Now we can't imagine vacationing any other way.
