I've sailed from Charleston several times and don't really remember any late arrivals or delays, but just because it hasn't happened to any one of us doesn't mean it can't/won't.

I've flown from FLL at 11 and only did it because the airport is very close by.

Of course, there will be those who will say, "oh, just do self-assist and get off the ship early and you'll be fine."  Which is probably true.  But it's a risk.  I have had delayed disembarkation at other ports.  I just don't want to spend the last night tossing and turning because I'm worried about getting up super early and maybe missing my flight.  Just not a good way to end a cruise, imo.

So, anyway, I "accidentally" opened an email and found a super cheap casino fare leaving Saturday with NO SOLO SUPPLEMENT.  I've mostly sailed solo for at least a decade since my DD graduated college.  In my 28 Carnival cruises, 11 were solo, and only one had no solo supplement.  It was too affordable to stay home!

I used to stay out at the Hampton Inn West Ashley but their price was a bit high so I booked the Sleep Inn.  It wasn't cheap but at least the parking and shuttle both ways is included.  Friends who sailed with me Labor Day 2017 stayed there and thought it was fine.

    thank you!!

  2. We are planning similar activities for these ports in December. In St. Kitts, our first time there, we like the looks of Thenford Gray's tours - more info in the POC boards. In St. Maarten, I think we're going to schedule something through the ship, just because of road conditions/traffic that we've seen mentioned a lot.

We did the Thenford Gray your and loved it!!

  3. This is our itinerary on the Magic next August! We are planning beach, Margaritaville, and Jacks Shack in Grand Turk! Other than that I would love to find suggestions for the other ports as well! St. Kitts I am really at a loss as to what we should do...was thinking of doing the zip line excursion. St. Maartin we are thinking of doing the horse back riding. Then San Juan just getting off and venturing around on our own. See the forts, eat some good food, and do some shopping!!

There is a free Hop On Hop Off Trolley in San Juan.

  5. There will be a sign on the door stating that the cabins will be ready by 1:30. Then it says "If you are Diamond/Platinum or have FTTF, you are welcomed to enter" or something to that effect. As others mentioned, just open the door and walk through.

    Thank you!

  6. We recently turned platinum. If the doors to the rooms are closed and we can have access to the rooms early, how do we get in through the doors.

We are sailing on the Pride and I do not believe they leave the key cards in the mailboxes.

    Thank you

  7. 6 bags would be 2 first-time Platinums with 3 free bags each on a 7-12 day cruise.

I had never sent out laundry either until I turned Platinum, but at that time Platinum was the highest level, with unlimited free laundry, so bag size didn't really matter.

Thank you for clearing that up for me!
