Thank you. I’ll try to make contact later today. I do find it curious that the pre-embarkation letter does not even mention luggage tags.

First Saga cruise coming up in a fortnight. I have had a pre-embarkation letter, but no luggage labels. Do these come separately? If they do, I’d be a bit concerned about getting them in time because of postal strikes/delays. Maybe they are emailed? But I assume that, if necessary, you can get tags on arrival at Southampton.

With regard to the sea conditions, I saw that Saga’s Spirit of Discovery, which left Southampton at the same time as QV, decided to shelter in Torbay for most of the first full day. The downside for passengers will be missing the first scheduled port, but maybe they think that’s a price worth paying.

Curiously, the Southampton port website suggests that Discovery is returning there on 8 January, and that’s seemingly confirmed by the equivalent Portsmouth site, which has no mention of Discovery on that day. But mySaga still says Portsmouth. I guess it makes no practical difference to most passengers on a Saga cruise as long as the chauffeurs know where to go!

Thank you for your responses. Yes, I did know about the return to Portsmouth but have been assured that Saga arrange transport back to Southampton (which of course is not a long journey).

I am making my own way to Southampton (rather than using the chauffeur service) for the Christmas cruise on Discovery. (Departure time 6pm). No doubt I'll get embarkation details nearer the time but I'd be grateful for any guidance on roughly when the check-in opens. Thanks
