Thanks for taking time from your vacation. When we booked , the deck 3

deck plan had not been updated to include the new cabins. It is now (without the door and detailed instructions) .The "recon" is sincerely appreciated along with the pic.. We owe you a libation.

Your cabin definitely exists, I did a recce for you.  If you stand (on deck 3) with your back to guest services and the lifts to you right. Behind the lifts is a small seating area, there is a doorway to cabins. Turn to the right and there is a little corridor with only 3 cabins, yours is in the middle.  It will be very quiet as there will be no people milling up and down.

  3. Welcome to the Cruise. There are probably quite a few LBGT members on the cruise even though not many on Cruise Critic. Transatlantic are popular.

Im Diamond Plus and look forward ro saying hi in the lounge in the evening. Check out the notice board lets hope the meeting is shown and in a place thats suitable and at a suitable time. They often post a meeting which falls during a time when either early or late dining can't make it - we can change that lol

    And they often post a

venue that has music that inhibits conversation. We can change that too.

  4. Hi guys...

I am Mike retired and traveling single on this transatlantic. It will be my first time in Amsterdam also, I am arriving 29th August and staying at The Student Hotel Amsterdam City ( no its not for students lol) . I booked the hop on hop off bus its always a good way to see the sights and a dinner cruise.

I will check the Notice Board for GBLT meetings although often they chose the wrong time and the wrong place. It won't be the first time some of us have changed the venue and time. Im Diamond Plus ( not bragging - saying just in case any of you will be using the Diamond Lounge). Hope to see you on board.

    Hi Mike:

We are Diamond as well, so we will see you in the Lounge at some point. There will be a gathering for sail away at Sky Bar for all cruise critic folks.

We plan on getting an Amsterdam Travel Ticket for unlimited train and tram , so we plan to use the #2 Tram in lieu of HOHO.

    Safe Travels!

  5. We were set for Late Dining, then changed to My Time Dining, then changed back to Late Dining when it was suggested that you need set up dinner reservation times on MTD. Seemed the opposite of a my time dining model......

Let's just hope the food is good! We usually don't have a problem, (just the opposite!), but on one cruise on the Independence, the food in the MDR was so bad, we stopped going there and ate dinners in the buffet and specialty dining restaurant. More choices and we could pick what appealed to us.

We share your hope. Just off Rhapsody's TA and found the food unusually good in both Windjammer and MDR.

My dentist however, was just on Harmony and said the food was really bad. Maybe on smaller ships the chef can more easily slap errant cooks? We'll see.

  6. Welcome D&J.

I had forgotten I even posted this on the G&L roll call until you responded today on the general roll call.

We did a TA from Venice to Fort Lauderdale last year on another cruise line (unfortunately).

We love the westbound TA's, relaxing sea days after the fast pace of multiple port stops at the beginning of the cruise.

We have our air all lined up and the hotel in Amsterdam, (found good prices at Mövenpick Hotel Amsterdam City Centre). Have never been to Amsterdam before, so should be an interesting trip.

We are looking forward to this trip as well. We also have our air (arriving on the 30th) and Hotel (Hampton by Hilton) just about .5 mile from Your hotel).

What are you doing for dinner on the ship? Looks like we may be stuck with my time, though wait listed for 6 PM.

  7. Booked this a few months ago and thought I'd check and see if anyone is going along.

    Should be a fabulous trip!!

Hello Tim and Terry! Dick and Joe here from Winter Haven FL.

We booked this cruise about 2 weeks ago On Rhapsody's B2B Venice- Tampa. We'll

check back from time to time to say hello to new comers!

This is our 3rd cruise on Brilliance and 2nd TA.

  8. Hi all. The four of us will definitely be on the ship. This will be first time on ROT, so Im not familiar with the layout. Where do you recommend we can meet, mix/mingle the first afternoon or next day?

This is our first Rhapsody cruise, but

Royal usually schedules LGBT and posts it on the bulletin board ( usually around Guest Services).

We hope there's a relaxed atmosphere where we can talk .

On other Royal ships, We've posted other venues/times once on board. We suggest checking out the "official" LGBT assuming it exists and going from there, if no

    Rhapsody veterans have other ideas???

    D&J

  9. All of those could happen on just about any ship, nothing to do with size.

We have cruised on 10 different Royal ships, and it happened ONLY on Harmony. For us, 5,000 plus passengers is too big. For other folks it may be fine. It's just not fine for us

If the theater can't accommodate 1/2 the guests; for us the ship is too big.

If Windjammer can no longer function as a "one stop shop" ; for us, the ship is too big.

If standing in line for more than an hour to see a show is how folks want to spend their cruise vacation, its just not for us.

If only 5,000 plus ships are the future for Royal this Diamond member will spend his $ elsewhere.

This says nothing about cities with smaller ports that would have to be abandoned by Royal.

Different strokes , folks. That's all it is.

    D&J

  10. Our hope is that the smaller ships won't be abandoned EVER. We booked Rhapsody on last year's Harmony TA. Last time we will sail on anything larger than "Freedom" class.

You have to work to see the ocean and you rarely feel it . It feels more like a land based resort than a ship.

While the shows are second to none, the reservation process took over a month, and you don't know what else might be going on at the same time you make your reservation. We had to stand for the earlier Ice Show rather than miss the White Party.

We were moved to 'My time" without our permission.

If you want English bacon, Eggs to order, or prunes at breakfast you have to wander around to restaurants other than Windjammer.

The experience was more work and less like vacation. We just want a nice meal and a show without all the planning. PLEASE keep enough smaller and older ships around for those of us who enjoy them.

    Thank You!
