  1. I have started watching Priceline for Vancouver hotels and see the bid for a 4* would be $124.00 plus tax a night. It is showing a rating of 90% for West Vancouver downtown including gym, pool, spa, restaurant and Internet. Does anyone know what hotels might be in this 90% recommended group? We are looking for a hotel from 9/7-9/9/11. Last year was the first time bidding. I had seen others were getting the Sutton Place, which we also got. We enjoyed the hotel, but don't want to pay RR. I will also ask the great people in the Vancouver question and answer area. I'm hoping someone else won the hotel and can give me an idea of which one it may be.

    Thanks!

I think you mean Hotwire - not Priceline. If you go to betterbidding dot com, you can put in a request for identifying the possibilities. Note that Hotwire is generally higher than if you would use Priceline and name your own price. It's also pretty early to bid for September.

  2. Again,

We have been to many Quest shows before, but for some reason the formats have changed or it was only specific to this ship?

we always had fun at the Quest, i just want people to have a heads-up at what happened and the potential is there again.

It is billed as Adults only, then RCCL shares responsibility to enforce this also.

Just like the drinking age on the ships that they need to enforce but rarely do and these kids end-up in trouble. I have seen so many "lit" teenagers running around in the Promenade of the Voyager class ships, every cruise.

We like RCCL, will continue to cruise, but the need to reel in a bit!!

You know.. I've been on many RCCL ships and the Quest game is not the same on each and everyone. I tend to believe you on what you say. I've seen some gross disgusting behavior on some of the ships when this game is played by those that are drunk. The age varies too as I've heard them announce that it's "adult only over 18" before it starts. Sometimes it's more PG-13. I think it depends on the sailing and the ship.

For the selected few who thought you were a troll... they made themselves look silly. It's not worth even replying to such rubbish. I lost over a 1000 posts BTW when the board went down a few years ago. It really doesn't make a difference how many posts a person has. But it's funny how the ones with only a few cruises under their belt think they are cruise experts. lol.

  3. Tuscan Inn Fisherman's Wharf San Fran. $85 per night (plus taxes & fees) 4/19-4/22.

To answer Starq1 - The priceline room does not include parking if the hotel charges a fee. $109 isn't bad for a park & stay rate. I stayed there many years ago and it was very close to the pier. Normally I encourage people to use priceline, but in your case, I think you have a good deal when you add the free parking & shuttle.

  4. One of the reasons I'm driving to the port is due to the unpreditable weather at the begining of Sept. I've seen a few bermuda cruises get diverted. If there are cancellations, delays in return etc.. I won't have to mess with the airfare. If they decide to make it a east-coast route - sure I'll be disappointed but I'll find something else to see and do. I imagine during Indian Summer it's still warm during the day in Canada. If I was going to Bermuda at the end of October, I would think it would be a cool time of the year as it's not much different than the temps in SC. The good thing is - the risk of hurricanes are less in October than the summer months. If you end up heading north, the fall foilage would be peaking I would imagine and would be an incredible view to see from the sea.:D

  5. Sandbag - I didn't know anteaters worked on buckeyes as well as bedbugs. humm.. learning something new everyday! :p

Heavenlysea - is that you Karen? Kathy started this post a long time ago. I'll have to send her a note it resurfaced.

I'm in Springfield Township Ohio (the one in the south west part of the state).

Radiance1 - you will love the Radiance. I cruised with my daughter on that ship last week.

  6. I am interested in renting a car or jeep for our upcoming St. Maarten port of call. Many who I'm sailing with are doing a catamaran tour but I've done that before and would like to try something different. I've been to Orient Beach also. Renting a car seems like a great way to "do our own thing".

    My dumb Questions..

1 - Is it safe to rent a car and drive around the island?

2 - Are we talking defensive driving or reasonable speed?

3 - Parking at the various stops - is it simple and easy to find parking - ie at Maho beach for example.

4 - Traffic jams back into town.. Where are they and what time do you recommend I return the car to avoid them?

5 - jrchief21 mentioned Best Deal Car rental. Which company did you use? Has anyone use Avis or Thrifty?

6 - where is pickup of the car? Shuttle at the pier?

Thanks for the map offer gtaylor. Is it the same one as the website you provided? I was able to cut and paste that one in a word document and enlarge it. The disclaimer says it can be reprinted for personal use only so I figured it was ok. Great map! Thank you for the link.

Thanks everyone for the info. you've provided!

  7. OK.. let's see.. we will have a fire brewing, some wine, cooking appliances..

I plan on bringing my fishing pole so I can do some deep sea fishing off the aft. Maybe we could reuse that big tub of Vicar's to have a big ole' fashion fishfry.. :D

edited - I didn't see your post ger 77. We were thinking the same thing..;)

  8. I've heard of people bringing those small portable blenders onboard to make their own "frozen drinks". I think they have battery operated travel ones you can get too.

Vicar - if you bring your bagpipes I'll dance an Irish slipjig or hornpipe for entertainment :D

  9. Over the years RCCL's food has gone down in quality. I sailed on the Granduer of the Seas this past April. I was a bit disappointed. The desserts are plain BAD. We found ordering icecream with choc. syrup & cherries was a better choice. When the head waiter mentioned something about this not being on the menu, we told them it should be :)

  10. May I throw a question out there?

Is it true from what the brochures say about the "white gloved" treatment when you board? Do you get escorted to your cabins or have the hall monitors pointing the way?
