We are watching the NFL playoffs in our room right now; very glad that Holland America has them available.
I can never bring myself to use the S word so just hope this doesn’t lose something in translation! Do you know whether HA show the English Premier League football?

Way to go! Every second counts. One thing I’ve been wondering is whether they give out any maps of the areas you cover. I’ve downloaded a few off Pinterest but don’t really want to print one out unless I have to

I know that I have mentioned previously that we are seasoned travellers with NCL and this will be our first voyage with HA. I have a query about wifi access through “Have It All”.
On NCL we are used to having a time allocation of access within NCL “Free At Sea” and we both get the allowance. I’ve watched a few YouTube videos about the “Have It All” video package and I’m not sure what access we will get. Currently I’m anticipating to send family and friends regular WhatsApp messages and photos as we make our way round the voyage. On NCL I usually bundle all my WhatsApp messages together before I go online. As soon as I’m finished I log in and off they go. Invariably someone will ask a question but I’m usually able to log out after around 5 minutes. Will I be able to do that with my “Have It All” package?
Also will both my wife and myself have our own allowance or is it per cabin.
Thanks for any help.

Oh that is too bad missing out on Glacier Alley as well as the Petrohue Falls at Puerto Montt. Fortunately when we cruise the other way we leave at 3:30 pm so should be there and through before dinner.

NorbertsNiece, I’m assuming that that map shows the position of the tender dock at Punta Arenas. Last time we went there we were docked near the ship museum on the edge of town. That dock looks much nearer to the town centre I think, am I right?

Thanks for that tip NorbertsNiece.

Realised that I was telling porkies when I said that we’d never missed a cruise stop. I completely forgot the here comes COVID cruise in March 19. Dubai to Cape Town. Set off to Abu Dhabi, Fujairah and Oman with no trouble at all. But then we were refused entry at the Seychelles, Reunion, Mauritius and three South African ports, Richards Bay, Durban and Port Elizabeth. Ended up anchored off Cape Town about halfway to Robbin Island for three days! 17 days drifting round the Indian Ocean.
That said it did open up a new travel list, places I’ve seen but not visited. I already had a few to put in including Albania, Myanmar and Paraguay. Flying over doesn’t count. That said I’m going to claim Antarctica when we get there.
In addition, that cruise convinced me that I could do a Transatlantic cruise without doing my head in as I finally proved just before Christmas.

Loving the photos and I spotted the sea lions even expanding the photo on my old iPad.

Great info, we too don’t like having our ears assaulted by over amplified music. It’s our one BIG GRUMP about NCL. The volume as turned up so loud that it’s often to the detriment of the singers. Some of the females sound to shrieking, but still the audience goes wild. So the Ocean Bar could become a go to but perusal of various Daily News pages shows that it’s not open that often.- 2

TravelBluebird, those of us on the next cruise will be docking (?) at the island Chloe as we’ve had Punte Del Este removed from out itin. Did you manage to get any other shots of the island?

Santiago is an awesome city. My cough kept me back but we took a Viator tour Monday morning. Will catch you up soon.
HEADS UP
Museums and funicular are mostly closed on Mondays. Check before you go visit.
Initial flight to Heathrow done and dusted. Am feeling much better. Waiting on a flight north now.
Safe final leg NorbertsNiece, get home, get a cuppa and get a rest. You’ve worked tremendously on this thread. Thanks and safe travels in the future.Steve

But, due to the Coriolis Effect, hurricanes/typhoons in the Northern Hemisphere spin in a counterclockwise direction, while cyclones in the Southern Hemisphere spin in a clockwise direction. The penguins are pushed along, get dizzy and are easy prey for polar bears - that's why there so few of them north of the equator.
This may be wasted but every good Englishman knows that the reason that polar bears don’t eat penguins is because they ant get the wrappers off!- 6

So sorry your missing the Puerto Montt excursion. Blues of a different kind, although your stoicism is most commendable.
We’ve never missed a port yet in over 25 cruises, but we did have a delayed start on a Princess cruise in French Polynesia. Departing from Papeete, the captain let rip with the engines and reversed into the dock! Fortunately a thorough search was undertaken and we were cleared for embarkation in the early hours and made our first port of call easily. On another occasion we got out of Halifax only to learn that just after we set off they closed the harbour. We had a forward ocean view cabin on deck 4. 20 ft waves, boy we barely slept that night with the constant wave crashing and see sawing through them all!
That balcony obstruction has us a little worried as we booked the cruise in a package and have no say over which cabin we get except that it is described as a “Deluxe Veranda Stateroom” that will be advised later (not so far!) by the cruise line.🫰Being regular NCL cruisers (diamond level), we never need to worry about luggage storage, just slide it under the bed! We usually take two cases each on any longer cruises, and one will slip inside the other. That’s what we’ll do this time but that looks one sturdy case that you have with you, where could you stow it?

- Great job TravelBluebird! We’ll be sure to keep up with your adventures as we’re picking up the OOSTERDAM as you disembark. We’ll also be switching channels to check out the adventures of NorbertsNiece. I’m assuming your first port of call will be Puerta Montt. If you do a tour that includes Petrohue Falls be ready for some amazing blues!

Part of our problem was that for each stage the butler was changed. Apparently they take it in turns to be available as the night shift. That said we didn’t speak to anyone about it. Pity we didn’t pick up that advice before the cruise started as that would have avoided waste food. Thanks for posting that Janice 2348 as it puts the info out there for others and that’s what this board should be about if it’s got any legs!

Fair enough, the Joy is one of the larger ships in the fleet. I’d wondered whether your experience was on a smaller ship. Thanks for clarifying.

AandL2000, I’m just wondering which ship you were on. Last summer we sailed on Norwegian Star to Iceland. We weren’t travelling as Haven occupiers but we did get to experience their dining options. For reasons we don’t quite know we were invited to use the breakfast facility in Moderno and lunchtime in Cagneys. We also had access to the concierge accompaniment off ship. Once again the food and the help off ship in ports were excellent, however I did think that that left people who had paid for Haven decidedly short changed. As a smaller ship the Star had no specific areas for Haven guests only beyond the restaurant options as far as we were aware. As a much newer and larger ship Norwegian Encore is well placed to wow the Haven cruiser.

Thanks Dee, it’s been a privilege following your adventures around South America and Antarctica. Tomorrow it’s our turn in reverse order. If it’s half as good as you’ve told it it will be a blast, so thanks for setting us up. Safe travels.
