  1. Interesting the UK version appears to be different or the policy has been amended since the initial issue of the document. Below is what is stated on the UK site, please note! It specifically states it excludes air and concierge collection (our cruise includes a trip on the orient express from London to Venice, so it looks like if we cancel we would lose the cost of this and our air fare back from the cruise, this obviously might alter in further updates).

    To quote Regent UK

At Regent Seven Seas Cruises, our extended family of guests and crew is always at the center of everything we do, and the safety of our guests and crew is our top priority. With so much information coming from around the world very quickly, some may feel uneasy about traveling — especially if you have a voyage scheduled to sail during the next several months.

To ensure you feel confident about sailing with Regent, we are introducing Regent Reassurance. For all voyages embarking 10 March 2020 through 30 September 2020, guests who have paid in full have the option to cancel up to 48 hours prior to sailing and receive a 100% Future Cruise Credit based on the cruise only fare (excluding air and Concierge Collection arrangements if applicable). Which can be applied to any new booking within one year on any Regent voyage sailing in 2020-2022. We hope Regent Reassurance gives you the additional time, if needed, to evaluate conditions and help you feel confident in your decision to sail on your currently booked Regent voyage, or to sail on a future one.

Please know that our team is working tirelessly to navigate through these ever-changing circumstances — because our priority is to take care of you, our extended family. We look forward to welcoming you on board soon.

  2. Nor have we heard anything from our normally very good travel agent in the UK, wondering how we are affected as prior to  sailing we are catching the Orient Express from London to Venice (booked via Regent as part of the cruise package), then a night in Venice followed by a 9 day cruise to Rome, wondering If the orient express section will be covered by the new cancellation policy? Wife is upset as she is getting a gown hand made for the train, mine you I just remembered I brought a new dinner suit as well.

  3. I suppose in a way we must count ourself as being fortunate with this alteration, as we have just booked the 28 day Miami to Vancouver cruise leaving on the 18th April 2018, (present to ourself for surviving forty years of marriage) will be nice to have a totally refurbished ship to look forward to, but will be worried that it might cancelled / delayed if the refurb is delayed for any reason.

Feel very sorry for those who have had planned holidays drastically altered by all this.

  4. Ron, I like British (warm) bitter, well someone got to , all I do is contact Regent and it appears in my room and a few but not all bars, but if it not at bar you are at they do normally go to another bar and collect one for you. This has worked well for me on two of the four cruises we have undertaken. The first we were unaware of the situation, and one other time they totally forgot about my request. So not a totally foolproof system, but for me it wasn't a worry, as I could drink other alcohol, were as for you that's not an option, so I suggest that the 90 day rule should be obeyed, also put it on the butlers request form and check again nearer the time. Have a great cruise.

  5. This sounds like the cruise we are booked we sail around the 22nd September, from memory the restaurant bookings open 24th June, so you should be ok. Weather even though we come from Britain we are a little concerned over this, but talking to my travel agent she reckons base your choice of clothes on a typical British Autumn, which isn't that helpful as it could be anything, from rain and cool say around 55c through to lovely and sunny say mid 70's. I doubt if that really helps you, but we are taking layers, coat and umbrella for Marion.

I did try to start a roll call, but last time I looked it had fallen off the end of the page.

  6. We are from the UK and were wondering what the weather would be like on the journey, I assume that Miami in late April would be warmish, going through the Panama Canal area and Alaska well frankly I don't know.

I'm an engineer so I'm interested in the Panama Canal from that aspect, how much do you see of the workings, can you see anything from you balcony, in fact is there anything to see, we are thinking of an A grade suite as they are forward on deck 11 and a high up. Are there any must do trips through or around the Panama cancel area?

As the cruise is leaving from Miami we were thinking of having a few days there, were would the best area to stay, we done Disney etc and frankly we are too old for the parks, but never been to the coast and was wondering if we should be looking to stay within easy travelling distance of the port, if there anywhere nice

Sail into San Francisco I'm assuming it's worth getting up for? We are due to dock at 8am so what time should we be on deck? Or is the sail out as equally as nice that people would recommend, a nice sandy beach to relax on, a broad walk to walk along, you know the typical touristy thing.

May in Alaska what can we expect, cold and snow or beautiful sunny day and temperatures of around 60's or both? it will be a once in a lifetime trip so we want to get the maximum from it, so we were thinking of adding say a week to our trip to say go on the Rocky Mountaineer to say Banff from Vancouver, would Mid May be a good time?

Sorry to ask what might be deemed as silly or basic questions, but it's a lot of money and I want to make it special for the wife and I as its our 40th wedding anniversary in 2018 so thinking of doing it then, special for me would be seeing the operation of the Panama Canal, special for Marion would to be able to see the wildlife, the whales and bears especially. Please don't feel obliged to answer every question, any answers would be appriciated, Thanks for any advice.

  7. Pam, this is my little saga, I hope you find it helpful, I have just cut and pasted this from another thread. However I was in slightly different situation than you described.

We were extremely lucky and very fortunate, in fact Regent UK and our travel was absolutely brilliant, it all started around a year or so ago when we booked a cruise with Regent traveling from Athens to Istanbul, we were quite excited by the itinerary as we had only been to Athens and Istanbul so all the Greek islands in between were new to us. Unfortunately with the aggro out that way they decided to alter the itinerary to Athens to Venice, which was the same as the cruise we done last year, eventually we decided to cancel and we thought we would lose our deposit, but because the alterations were so great Regant U.k said we could have the deposit back in full, but would we mind just looking to see if another cruise might be of interest.

Like most people we only had a limited time period we could work within well eventually we chose the voyager Stockholm to London cruise, we booked and paid our 20% deposit, you probably can guess what happened next, the very next day the email was sent out advertising the 25% off the cruise we booked the day before. I wasn't happy, so rung the travel agent at nine and they said they already had the invoice for the full amount of the fare, I suggested that they rung Regent Uk to argue our case. But before they could ring they had a revised invoice with twenty five percent off. So we are very contented now, but just slightly puzzled why regent didn't just suggest delaying the booking by a day.

So we benefitted, and I hope that's not seen as bragging, as we I believe could say have accidentally benefitted because of our cancellation.

  9. Folks:

Thanks for your quick responses and we appreciate the comments. No guarantee that we will have the same butler, just hope that he understands my sense of humor and my Newyorican accent. This is our first time experiencing butler service and are a little unsure in the dos and don'ts. We do not see ourselves as high maintenance as long as he installs a spicket for wine in the cabin :D.

    Z and TB

Sorry I might be able to help you but I got no idea what a spicket is :)

  10. Zqueeze1, basically no sense of humour did his job perfectly well, but I found I couldn't have a conversation with him. My wife put it down to my accent but whilst this may be correct there just wasn't a spark. I do enjoy having a bit of fun with the crew and they normally join in, there's some great waiter who can speak cockney better that Dick Van Dyke on voyager but with him it was like talking to a robot, can't fault him in any other way, always made sure breakfast was on the dot, asked if I wanted my shoes cleaned. Hope I explained it ok.

  11. Yes Pies it was a great cruise, nice to meet you both, agree about the entertainment it was by far the best we have seen on our 3 cruises. Would like to echo all your comments. The tours were of a high standard and the easy tour of Rome we undertook was anything but :-), but there's a story behind that. Weather was mostly good as well. We were on deck 11 cabin 1112 and what a great positioned suite the butler was ok and the chamber maids where excellent. Overall properly the best Regent cruise so far.

We travelled independently which I don't think I would do again as there's to much stress involved in wondering if your flights and transfers would work out ok, well they did apart from the final transfer from Venice docks to the airport who never arrived, so we were left trying to scramble about for a last minute taxi, but we made it.

  12. will try to remember ZQ1, but after the party were planning I might not remember :-).

Pies4u, my cockney accent is actually more Kentish with a slight twinge of cockney mate :), I didn't realise you were staying at the same hotel the hotel 1898, or did you mean at Heathrow? what seat you in on the plane and I will say hello.

Mudhen we have got some American friends who understand us, although there's the normal cock up (oops) over certain words and phases, pants was a good one, but the one that got the waiters going was asking for cheese and biscuits a standard phase over here and I'm was certain that it would be understood. Well 10 minutes later someone a little higher up came to the table and asked if I wanted cheese and biscuits, this went on for what seem like an hour with various people attending our table, I learnt that cheese and biscuits are known as cheese and crackers, to me that is truly crackers 😀. Also have you filled in your butler request form for your little extras?

If any one fancy a get together then let's us know and we try to get there, I don't know the ship so if anyone interested I will leave it to them to suggest time etc.

  13. Congratulations Mudhen, you can give us a knock we are in 1112 on your cruise, we had a butler a few times, and to be honest he has done very little for us, apart from lay breakfast, I would love him to pack / unpack but she who must be obeyed won't allow this as she don't want him to she her underwear (pants to us English, but last time I said that I got a bemused look, forgot that pants to you lot were trousers to us over the pond. :-). He will arrange a cocktail party for you, we never had one as we cruise on our own, he will alter your tours if you want, in fact he will do anything that's legal.

We have just normally asked questions of him. See you at the deck party, if you hear a cockney voices then please say hello. Can't really say what the rooms are like as we have never been on the Mariner only the voyager, and they were great, plenty of room and a large bathroom, although I have been warned that the bathroom isn't so large on mariner. We haven't got a bath, only a large shower which don't worry us, from memory on voyager I believe we did have a whirlpool bath. Should be a fabulous cruise and if we meet I will buy you drink:)

  14. Chaltonkerry - my thoughts on our suite:

Pros: Location great for access to stairs, elevator, pool deck, La Veranda. Quiet. No foot traffic since secluded area. Suite stewardess and steward have been excellent.

Cons: We have had high waves and winds so feel it much more because of high deck. Lots of movement. One night had to call because furniture not tied down well on 12 and they had to send people up to take care of.We could hear it above us. Also, still fighting some problem with air conditioning. If we don't keep our drapes closed all the time it is hot even with the air as cold as it will go.

Let me know if have other questions.

Thanks for the above, we will be in the Mediterranean so hopefully we won't be suffering from the rough seas you are at the moment, also i own an air conditioning and refrigeration company, so you never know I might even be able to sort that out as well. 😄

Mutiny on the bounty is an interesting bit of history, and like a lot of British history has been distorted by the cinema, properly explains why I don't go very often, been interesting to heard her take on it, I think poor old captain Bligh wasn't as bad as he was painted in the film. You are on a wonderful cruise and I am really enjoying your postings.

  15. I was reading your in a PH suite on deck 11, we will be in suite 1112 in April so just wondering if you had any good or bad points on it, it's location etc, I believe although I could be wrong that there's only a shower in the bathroom. Any comments would be appreciated, but whatever happens enjoy your cruise.

  16. Forgap, you certainly got a busy period coming up, what your doing is known as skiing in the UK (spending kids inheritance :D). Look forward to you starting the roll call.

Just seen where you live, it's coincidentual as we met and regularly corresponds a couple on our last Regent cruise who lives on the coast near to Atlanta, small world. In a few months think April 20th we are on mariner for a 10 night cruise from Barcelona to Venice which should be good.

  17. CharltonKerry - Oh, goody! We can start and early, early roll call! Yes, it is the 12th, not the 20th...my fingers got the best of me on the iPad! As a young thing (we're about the same age) I took a low budget cruise around the Greek islands when my pals and I discovered that the ferry costs amounted to more than the budget cruise fare. We went to a number of islands and got off in Mykanos (a day early) for a week there and on Ios. Our room for 3 had no windows (it was below sea level) and one took a shower by sitting on the toilet and pulling a chain....drain was in the floor! I remember we hired a taxi in Istanbul for $3 each for all day. Attila (our cab driver) ferried us to all the sights and served as body guard in the bazaar. Perhaps this experience colors my rosey view of Regent! It's all icing!

Well let's hope the showers a bit better than that, have sailed into Istanbul once, but that was with PandO and was escorted in by an over excited heavily armed coast guard cutter, he certainly livened up the journey as he threatened anything within a mile of us. The blue mosque is worth a visit in Istanbul as is the markets, but be aware if you go in a shop they lock the doors. Agree about the early roll call. Us youngster will rock the boat when we finally get on board, funny just got an email from regent saving they have just undertaken the keel laying ceremony, which when you think about it, is quiet important:)

Will be quiet a year for us that year as my son is getting married late June that year, he decided to do the dirty deed in a castle, so I think I'm going to be broke for this trip.

  18. Rest in peace Tom, sorry our paves never crossed, even so we only lived a couple of miles apart, it was your encouragement and enthusiasm for Regent that made me book my first cruise with Regent, I am now looking at booking my third, thanks for the tips and all the advice.

My sincere condolences to Toms family

    Kerry and Marion
