  1. Sorry but I know this may have been asked but I'll try anyhow. After researching to find my answer I thought I would just go ahead and ask....................does anyone have any input and/or pictures on the Deck#7 Aft Cabins on the Eurodam? We're looking at the Holiday cruise for 2014 and have an interest in these cabins. We were just on her last fall but didn't think to check, sorry.

    Thanks

    Mike

  2. We've done this trip on the Carnival Glory, did not enjoy the ship at all. Last fall we were on the Eurodam, Quebec City to Ft Lauderdale, but had to leave in Bar Harbor due to family emergency. So we are doing the Ft Lauderdale to Quebec City on the Veendam next month. The Veendam does 7 day cruises to Boston and then back to QC and the Maasdam does 7 day cruises to Boston and then back to Montreal. The St Lawrence, the extreme Canadian coast and the ports are wonderful.

  3. Not sure of the doors but I do not believe they are metal, we usually use the 3M strips that do not leave a mark and can easily be removed. As far as a power strip we usually take a 3 prong recepticle to charge phones, etc. but do not leave it plugged in while away from the room as the Steward may take it. We charge while in the room.

    Hope this helps

  4. This has to be a hoax, I just tried to seach the member directory for this member, Srandaz2, and found nothing. We've sailed with HAL for over 25 years and was on the Nieuw Amsterdam maiden Carhibbean Voyage, one fine ship!

Agree with most I would discount this review simply due to too many unknown's and ignorance of the poster.

  5. My wife and I have come to the conclusion that we are not "cool weather" sailors. We have done many many Caribbean cruises, Hawaii RT San Diego, Panama Canal and Hawaii/So. Pacific. Were were thinking about the Voyage of the Vikings but it's cold brrrrrrr. The other night I watched a show about cruising the Norwegian Coast and crossing the Artic Circle but I was suprized to see that the weather appeared comfortable and folks were in light jackets. So I checked the weather on the internet finding that in July and August the temps are around 70 degrees. HAL has several choices in the area so my question is simple................ Has anyone taken any of these cruises and if so can you share your experience? The ship choices appear to be the Rotterdam, which we love and the Ryndam, which we have never been on, we have sailed the Maasdam and Veendam.

Nothing planned for 2014 so we are curious.

    Thanks

    Mike

  6. Yes, both my wife and I, more so her, returned from our last cruise to Hawaii and So Pacific and are just now getting over a bad infection. We had heard many folks coughing while on this trip and were told that many passengers had upper respiratory issues. As most know usually the issue is the "noro virus" but we heard very little about that but more dealing with chest issues and sinus infections. I guess it's the nature of the beast when travelling with that many people?

  7. Betty,

I made the trivet out of oak and glued the tiles in place. For the tray I selected one that fit the dimensions closely and glued the tile to a piece of cork and then set the entire piece in the tray. That way if I wish I can use those tiles as well as the trivet tiles plus my many others I have on a much larger project, yet to be determined?

    Good luck

  8. We've been with HAL for over 25 years and have also taken two Carnival Cruises. Following is a list of reasons we stay with HAL:

    1.) Smaller ships

2.) Beauty of ships and their artwork

3.) Dutch crew is very polite and personable

4.) Cleanliness and staff is very attentive to passengers needs

5.) Phillipino staff is always smiling

6.) Indonesian dining room crew is the best

    7.) Classey

8.) Private Island Half Moon Cay is the best

    9.) Staterooms very comfortable

10.) Not classified as "party boat", we have fun but ships are not crazy like some?

I'm certain other cruiselines are just as nice in the eyes of those that have cruised with them but we choose to stay with HAL, one reason is the perks we get today after many cruises and don't wish to start all over with another cruiseline to gain their perks, if that makes any sense.

    Good luck

    HAL Mariner
