I loved watching the show. My first cruise was on the Pacific Princess in 1979 with my two sisters and my parents. We dressed for dinner, I remember the dinner gong, and loved every minute of the cruise. I still cruise and its very different today, as everyone knows. I personally miss the elegance of my early cruises!

Thanks for your review, I just found it by accident today. I am doing a similar cruise on another cruise line but the information you shared about the islands will be very helpful. I appreciate the time you spent sharing your experiences!!

It's good to know that Silversea is a good line for solo cruisers. I've cruised solo on Crystal which is great but, I would like to try other cruise lines. Thanks to the original poster for starting this thread and to those who shared their opinions!

This ship is not a typical HAL ship Lisa.
built by a luxury cruise line and despite age and changes - for me, she still shines:)
she's not young - I was nervous the first time we booked and warned DH. He was enchanted instantly.
The charm of her is not just the uniqueness, nor the small passenger load, nor the higher crew to passenger ratio, nor the crew who "know you" quickly, nor the unique itineraries she can do and the ports she can get to that no one else in the HAL fleet can (if you pick the right itinerary) - it's everything about her - the crew (very special), the ship and the itineraries.
Happy to sail on her again.
My parents, many years ago, sailed on a Royal Viking Ship, the Prinsendam is the closest I will ever get to having that experience. I will start watching her itineraries. Thank you for your comment!

I would go solo on Disney for sure. Loved the ships and the adult only area. I don't gamble so the casino is a non-issue with me.

Thanks for all the information!

I've cruised solo only on Crystal. I had wanted to cruise Princess by myself but, I might have to rethink that. How is HAL for solo cruisers?

On a RCI cruise last year we saw a woman with her two "service" dogs. They were some small breed, similar in size to a Chihuahua. Each day each dog would appear wear a different dress.
I have to admit that people abusing the rules allowing service animals is a pet peeve of mine.
Agree!!

Thanks for the detailed review, I am enjoying following along. I am also being inspired to take a cruise by myself. I did a couple by myself a couple years ago but, following your review is giving me a huge dose of wanderlust! Thanks Tracie!

My favorite part of any trip is boarding the airplane for the flight to wherever I'm headed. That is when all the stress of packing and hustle to get to the airport falls away and the adventure begins. Another favorite moment of travel that only pertains to cruising is watching the ship pull away from the dock from the embarkation port. :)

I did a similar itinerary on another cruise line last August and reading your review brought back some good memories. I fell in love with Ireland and Scotland! Your review was a treat to read because of the way you described your families adventure. Thank you so much for sharing your experience!
