Yikes... Makes me happy that I'm a Zenith.   I called yesterday to the Zenith Desk and was answered on the first ring.

Instead of calling in to upgrade packages - you might consider doing it yourself.   Really painless.   Just Click a couple buttons.      I repriced 2-3 excursions yesterday.

So do I cancel the drink upgrade pkg I have already purchased and then rebook at the sale price?

Thank you ALL for trying to help me in this issue.

All I can say is I was checking flights on Southwest Airlines, and also Googled for WHICH airport I would be flying into. I ask when flying from Kansas City, MO to Galveston, TX,  "which" airport would I fly into? Southwest Airlines "highlighted" the Houston/Hobby airport, of the two that were mentioned. When I Googled from my phone it said William P. Hobby Airport (HOU), located in Houston, TX, about 40 minutes from Galveston. It is possible the IAH, but I have no clue how to find out, other than what I just posted here.

Attempt to book your flight on the SWA website.  Try both airports to see what options come up. Hope this helps.

We stayed at the The Tremont House.  Really loved this hotel and the way it was easy to walk around to restaurants & bars.  The day of our cruise we saw a shuttle from the hotel but we don't know the details.  We found it easy to walk over to the port ourselves with our rolling luggage....and we have been retired for a few years😊

If you are interested in the Tremont, suggest you call them direct and ask about their shuttle.

We are sailing on Royal Caribbean and understand the new terminal is not walkable.  😢  I will have to call the Tremont since their website states you have to get their parking packing to get the shuttle to port.  Thank you!

The simplest trip we've done from Galveston is this:  Stay the night before at the Bush Airport Marriott.  There's a tram from the gates to the hotel.  Book a shuttle any of the shuttle companies or from the cruise line to get to the port on departure day.  Did this before and doing it again in Feb.

That is our back up plan.  Thought it might be fun to check out downtown Galveston since we are traveling with our youngest Son and his GF.

I got the email today, but it definitely isn't coming up free for me, not sure why.  It says my casino savings have been applied, but it still wants to charge me for the cruise.  Definitely not complimentary, unfortunately!  Oh, well, we have our free 9 night coming up in a few weeks - I'll enjoy that one!  Not sure why it said complimentary, and sounds like others have gotten it to work for them.

We are having the same issue. Over $1800.00 for a balcony cabin. Can only book online.  😢

  6. How does the build a bear work?  We are sailing on the Panorama during a spring break week, and Carnival advised it would be held one day only.  Do you have to sign up beforehand?  How much does it cost?  Do you pay for it with your onboard account?  If you purchase the build a bear gift card, does that guarantee you will get into the event?  I understand the gift card is only good for the one cruise.

Mazatlan is a nice little place to do a city tour IMO, and with the size of your group, booking it privately might end up close to the same price and then you get a smaller van and more control/flexibility. Also likely to have the cheapest shopping. Cabo is the one port where I might say to do a Carnival excursion so you don't have the hassle of trying to get off the boat in time; could also be a good beach day, there's not a whole lot to do in the marina area that's kid friendly. Or just stay on the ship. 🤷‍♀️

just wondering if anyone has updates on getting off the ship in Mazatlan with the reported Cartel violence?

  8. Check out “cruise deck plans dot com”. Select your ship and use the cabin check tool located at the right side of the page, all the way down at the bottom.  It’s easy to miss!  You will be able to select your deck then click on your cabin number and see the decks above and below in the same screen.  I use this to pick my cabin when I decide to book a cruise.  Have fun!

Funny, we're having the exact opposite situation. Airfare to LA from East coast in February is through the roof, minimum $550/rt/pp, up to $900pp!!! That's craziness! You can fly to Australia or Asia from the East coast for that price !

Any airfare across the country is ridiculous!  I love sailing the Caribbean, but adding airfare, hotel and meals to the cruise price kills the pleasure fast!  LOL. Cheaper to drive to the ship in LA.

UPDATE: Thanks to this group, I was able to determine this was a legit offer AND when I called, the agent allowed me to pick a Mexico cruise woohoo! I told him I had heard that Mexico was offered up the prior week or too. At first he said no, but I guess he realized he could do it! So I will be going over Halloween. Dia de los Muertos is Nov. 1,2 and we will be in Puerto Vallarta.

I tried to switch to a Mexican Riviera cruise today and was told I could not switch.  🙁. Airfare to Florida is killing the deal.

  11. So aggravated right now.  Notified of a bogus charge last week that we didn’t make (BNB charge).  Waited over 2 hours to speak with relationship manager regarding the fraud.  They were having system problems, but canceled our cards and advised they were sending out new ones.  Today got another notification of same charge made yesterday, to our new account number!  WAITED OVER 3 HOURS 20 MINUTES.  Never connected with a live person.  Sent an email instead.  WTH is going on over there?  We are closing the account.

  12. Are there any benefits to booking a hotel pre-cruise through Celebrity?  The website has little information, the button to book isn’t working.  Looking for practical information about the benefits.  Figure the cost is inflated.  Sailing out of Southampton next summer, hope to explore London.  TIA for your response

If the luggage tags Celebrity is sending you are blank, then why not print the luggage tags from your eDocs? At least all the info is already on them.

Eliminates the need for taping and stapling the luggage tags!  I much prefer the sturdier, mailed type.

Yes. Airfare's primary pricing function is demand. $500 per person swing really isn't that much for a longhaul fare.

Airlines only sell a certain number of seats at a given price-point, when those are gone then you're buying in the next fare category up. Revenue Management (that control the number of available seats at given prices) may release seats back into the lower categories causing the price to drop, but if there's sufficient demand there's no reason to do so.

The end of May to early September is peak season for leisure travel to Europe, whilst business travel is down during the summer months. You'll find that economy class prices are generally higher, but that business and first class seats, if you aren't looking at them already, are often at a large discount. Some people love to have airfare booked a year out because it's one less thing to worry about, others (judging by some of the threads on here) will spend an astonishing number of hours over weeks and months fretting about it. Nobody can tell you if you should buy now or not, that's down to your own preferences and what you value.

PHX-London has literally dozens of permutations, obviously the non-stop flights are going to be at a premium but if you don't mind connecting you have easy one stop options through ORD, DFW, DEN, JFK, PHL, IAH, LAX, SFO, SLC, SEA, PDX, EWR, BOS, MIA, ATL, MSP, DTW or practically any other hub.

Would love to try business class, but at this point in time the price is prohibitive.  Any idea of what the lower rate would be?

Have also checked flights out of LAS and LAX, which are cheaper than PHX.  Would have to get there, just another possible glitch in getting to LHR.  Not looking for el cheapo flights, just reasonably priced.  Would kick myself if that 2000.00 flight went down to 1400.00 a few days later.  That is why I am researching now.

    Thanks for your input!

  15. Have been watching airfare to London Heathrow from PHX, and it is jumping all over the place, up to a $500.00 pp swing!  IS THIS NORMAL?  We don’t cruise until June 19, but will go in a couple days earlier.  I prefer to book direct with the airlines or Celebrity.  When using other providers, have sometimes had flight times changed without much recourse.  Can anyone give me tips on booking airfare?  First time going to Europe

  16. WHY would it turn your stomach? It’s well done prime rib. Prime rib never has char marks it’s slow roasted in an oven. You were given two well done pieces. Well done prime rib is gray. It’s quite clear you do t understand how it’s cooked. This isn’t a thread worthy topic.

    Thanks for your thoughtful response

  17. Cooking a prime rib to the point there is no pink just defeats the purpose of having it in the first place. It would ruin the flavor and texture. Better to order a hamburger or flat iron steak.

If the OP wanted it less well done, he could have simply sent it back and requested another one. No need to make a big fuss over it.

Never made a fuss. Didn’t want to request another one and have the same issue. Just advised I didn’t care for it. This was a first, and I have ordered prime rib in many restaurants and cruise lines.

  18. The ship does not have the capability of analyzing an appropriate sample (I am not sure of what) to determine if it is noro or not. Only by sending sample to an onshore lab such as the CDC can that analysis be made.

I believe they send a stool sample(s) off to be analyzed.

We were on the Crown Princess doing a Pacific Coastal cruise. Got the letter in the terminal while checking in. Had a delayed boarding, no food finally allowed on about 5 Ish. Announcements from Captain about hand washing at lunch. Then added numbers of new illness, heard of people stuck in their cabins, new updates and admonishments from Captain. Each US port we stopped at, we googled the Crown Princess (plague ship) and got news reports with actual numbers. Last US stop, people wanted to get off the ship early due to the Noro outbreak, but Princess would not let them. Hubby was washing his hands constantly. Noro got him second from last day of cruise. He was confined to cabin after medical staff phone interview. His food tray was brought by garbed personnel. Room steward could not come in,fresh towels placed by the door after a knock. We were assigned a time to debark the ship, and told to stay in cabin until they came for us. When they came for us, we were greeted by garbed personnel, complete with face masks, paper type suits and gloves. Hubby was wheeled to edge of ship, and had to walk off and through customs. Everyone in terminal had masks, it was surreal. It took him a few days to recover. Hope to never encounter this again!
