  1. Just for fun-I was wondering what most folks do on the ship for breakfast as opposed to what they normally eat at home. Personally, at home I usually eat either cereal or oatmeal and then a yogurt or piece of cheese later, however, on a cruise all bets are off! I love to get the full Magilla, omelet, pastry or croissant sausage or sometimes egg benedict. Screws up my diet, but hey, it's only for a week!

    What say you all?:)

  2. It depends on the ship.

    Triumph/Victory - no

    Conquest/Glory/Freedom/Liberty - yes

    Fantasy Class - no

    Dream Class - yes

Sunshine - no except for the new cabins that were added

I'm not sure about the Spirit Class

We will be on the Pride on Sunday

and on the Paradise in August

  3. My husband and I were just discussing this the other day. We are going on the Pride in a week and it will just be the two of us. We have been seated with other couples on cruises before and it never seems to work out. I feel that it is better to be seated alone or with a large group. There was one time that we were seated with a couple the first night and all the woman did was complain about everything; the rocking of the ship, the price of bingo, the crummy food, blahblahblah, but of course we didn't change our table, actually they did! Every night after that we were sat with different couples, usually they were from first seating and missed (this was years ago when there weren't so many dining options). We actually met quite a few very interesting people. Personally, on this cruise, I would love to be seated with a large group of people, so much more interesting than sitting alone with just the two of us. I love my husband, but it's our 25 year anniversary cruise so we pretty much are talked out! LOL! But if we cant and have to sit with just one other couple, we will just make the best of it!:D

  4. Our small son eats like a bird but loves the gourmet burger. It's huge. I feel so wrong leaving most of that burger on his plate but I have my own meal. Children see this extensive menu and can be immediately overwhelmed. Our boys have the courses down...for a starter they order Caesar salads and spring rolls. That's practically a meal for a child!

I think that cruising is a great way for kids to broaden their horizons when it comes to trying new foods. There is no pressure for them to eat it because you can always get a back up "favorite" in case they really don't like what they order. My son was extremely picky when he was little and the first two cruises that we went on was basically, chicken, mac and cheese and chocolate chip cookies, he wouldn't even eat the peanut butter and jelly pockets on the Disney ship! . Gradually as time went on and we went on more cruises he expanded his repertoire until on the last cruise he tried something new every night. Of course, most depends on age of the child, but it's nice when they find something that they like that they wouldn't normally try!

  5. Hi All,

Travelling on the Pride on May 18th, our last port is Freeport and we will only be there until 1:30. We will be doing beach days on the other two stops so we aren't planning on beach in Freeport. Is there anything to do in port that is nearby that we don't have to take a cab to? Any suggestions for something that we should see. It's just the two of us. Thanks for any suggestions!

  6. Thanks for posting, I really liked your ideas. Especially the one about the two sandwiches and a side of coleslaw to put on your sandwich. Actually, the only time that we usually order room service is in the morning for coffee mostly and continental treats until we go for regular breakfast, but I will definitely be trying out the sandwiches and chocolate cake now!

  7. It is 80 for valet, 60 for no valet, i love the valet, so that's what we always use, it maybe cost effective for you guys to do a shuttle, I'm not sure though, call around to different limo and shuttle services, or go right on their website, and you can get quotes, google port of Tampa shuttles, and they come up

Thanks for the info. We liked the valet too, definitely worth it.

  8. Google the Port Authority of Tampa and you should find some links to shuttle services on their web page.

Well, there used to be links there. I Googled "Tampa port shuttles" and a bunch of sites popped up.

I actually did google the port but the information was limited. I have called a couple of shuttle companies (most only shuttle to and from the airport). The cost is definitely more expensive than if we self parked at the port (15 dollars pp one way as compared to 14 dollars a day per car). I didn't see a price on the website for the valet however. I know that Carnival has one and it would be a lot easier if we valeted (sp?) because of the amount of people and the way we have to distribute the luggage between the cars. If there isn't a huge difference in price it might be worth it to hire the shuttle.

  9. As soon as you step off the cruise pier, you will be on the beach. Free lounge chairs, lots of shade or sun. There is also a free swimming pool just steps away at Margaritaville. They have a swim up bar and often have free live music around the pool. You will love Grand Turk.

Have a great beach day at Grand Turk!

Thanks for the link, looks great!

  10. DH and I are going on the Pride next month and the ship stops in Grand Turk. We haven't been here before and I was wondering if there was a good beach spot that we could go to without having to go on an excursion? We are just looking for a relaxing beach day. Any advice is appreciated!

  11. Hi all. We are going on a family cruise in August leaving from the port of Tampa and I am looking for some advice on transportation and or parking.

There are 17 of us and the debate is whether we take multiple cars and cram in with luggage or hire a shuttle bus to pick us up and drop off. We are all leaving from one location near Tampa in the Clearwater area so we could hire a bus service to pick us up, but I don't know if the price difference is worth it. Does anyone know of a reliable, not too expensive bus/shuttle service for this area?

Also, I was wondering if anyone knows how much the valet service is at the Port of Tampa? We used it last time we sailed the Legend but I cant remember what the price was, and couldn't find it on the Carnival website. I appreciate any help or advice anyone can give! Thanks!

  12. Please don't show these pictures......I think SD is one of the best kept secrets around!!! :D It has some of Colorado's mountains and the Grand Canyon (miniature sized ) all together (without all the crowds!)

LOL! I agree! The Black Hills was arguably the most beautiful places I have ever been. They have a mystical quality and the whole area is very serene. And the Badlands were amazing, they look like what I imagine the surface of mars would look like, but yet they are so full of life. I cant wait to go back!
