  1. Looks like Sea Princess is not scheduled for dry dock til Oct 2015 and not for" routine maint".......sounds like she might need more work.

Wow.....that's a lot of disappointed cruisers between now and next year in October if they are just going to limp along between now and then.

Very disappointing from my favourite cruise line.

  2. I am just wondering when Princess is going to let people know when the technical problem with sun princess will be fixed. It's not fair to change intineraries when they know well in advance the ship is not capable of sticking to the scheduled ports. At the moment anyone booked or booking with Sun Princess cannot count on the itinerary they have selected.

    Very poor Princess.

  3. I agree, missing ports due to weather conditions us understandable and unavoidable. Being shortchanged on the cruise itinerary you have chosen and paid for due to a known mechanical issue is not. Cancel a cruise give people an incentive to book an alternative cruise and fix the damn problem.

  4. Bookings made in the specialty restaurants on the first night onboard are often substantially reduced..you can celebrate the first night not the last. Bookings for the last night of the cruise are heavily booked in advance...but honestly the dining room food was of an excellent standard...the scallop cerviche was absolutely yummy hope it's on the menu for my upcoming cruise.

  5. Solstice is a lovely ship I am elite on Princess but this if my third time on Solstice. I like pretty much everything about Solstice except having to prepay tours, no guest laundry and having to prepay gratuities if you want anytime dining. That's a pretty short list of negatives...generally you can book your tours onboard but in the Sth Pacific that's not a hassle, laundry just factor in into your costs, we prepaid the gratuities as soon as we got onboard, we were going to pay them anyway.so no difference....

    Enjoy.

  6. I would consider it a considerably changed itinerary. Re Bangkok there is little likelihood that ships will call there at present. My last cruised dropped Egypt at the last moment which was a huge disappointment. The ships insurance company calls the shots and they always err on the side of caution.

If mist of the ports I wanted changed I would see if I can get on something else.

  7. If all things are equal I would go X as I have highest status with them and then Princess but these cruise lines do not go to all the places I want so everyone will get a gig if they offer what I want to do. :D

I just got off Azamara....lots to love there, hubby enjoyed free drinks, double upgrade ie balcony for inside price at the moment which makes them very affordable. Interesting itineraries too.

  8. Back when I started cruising in the 70,s you hardly ever saw an older person. I think there is a market for a new generation of cruisers...just check out who loves the short cruises. More competition means it's easier to find a style of cruising that fits us all. I just want some different itineraries for local cruising and for the prices to be competitive with those elsewhere we still pay too much.

  9. Thanks all....

Sorry to hear Sambucca isn't even offered on the ship. I would be happy to pay for it.

If we bring our own bottle of Sambucca, do we just leave it at one particular bar and go there after dinner? I'm used to having it while still at the table with an espresso but this doesn't sound possible. It's an after dinner cordial, not something you would drink in your cabin.

They were so obliging on the ship I am sure you could arrange with your waiters to have it held in held in the dining room for you.

  10. I'm with you Lizzy, another two old ships. I am also suspicious it's no accident we are getting more ships down here that can't berth. No port fees and more days onboard to gather revenue in the casinos and bars.

I have no issue with them being three star if that's the price range but if it's anything like now it won't be. When you take everything into account with a bit of luck and some research you can sail on better ships at the same cost.

I want more choice in the fly out cruise home itineraries.

  11. I wish I was on this voyage with you it is an amazing itinerary. For those of you new to VTA the shore tours are very well organised...it's a small ship and you will be split into very small groups with whisper headsets and a guide. It's nothing like the mass herding you might have experienced on the larger ships. Have a wonderful time.

  12. I just walk around in a bubble of happiness barely noticing what others are up to so really nothing bothers me too much... Not enough smoke free nights in the casino...the only thing I REALLY hate is unpacking and long flights...first world problem ... I am so lucky to be seeing the world in such a wonderful way.
