  1. My thoughts:

It would be a long, bumpy walk with a 3-year-old in a stroller. :)

The Fish Fry is great and right across the road from Ardastra. But it's not fast at all. Just something to keep in mind with a toddler.

The buses stop running around 6 so if you go to the Fish Fry after the zoo, you'll probably need to take a taxi back to the port.

There's a lorry parrot feeding at the zoo at 3:30. Don't miss it! It's really fun to have the colorful birds eating out of your hand.

Thank you soooo much for your input. I am trying to get this all figured out now so I'm not stressing later although I'm sure I will be anyhow :-)

When you say the fish-fry isn't fast what do you mean? I am not even familiar with what it really is but I thought it would be a place we could pick up some dinner, but maybe not our best option???

And from what you're saying, I guess our best bet would be to catch the bus over there and then time permitting either the bus or taxi back to the port.

Again thanks for all your help!!!

  2. Ardastra Gardens was a good excursion for us.

We enjoyed the Marching Flamingos and the monkeys and peacocks, as well as the flowers and shrubs. Have fun.

I am thinking we'll have great time. My 3 year should love the animals. Now just trying to decide the best way to get there and back to the port. Maybe walk there and then take the bus back or vice versa??? Also trying to decide if the fish-fry and straw market is something good to do with a 3 year old after we do the zoo. Bare in mind we get into port at 2PM. So by the time we get to the zoo and spend time there it will be the early evening and I just want to make sure it is safe where we are going to be.

  3. Thank you so much for taking the time to write such wonderful reviews. I will be on the same cruise sailing in a little over a month!! We too are staying in a GS. My husband and I actually got married on The Explorer on May 9, 2008, we had a GS then and loved it. This time we are cruising with our 3 yr old son so it only made sense to have the extra room and amenities to made things a bit easier. I look forward to hearing about the rest of your trip.

  4. These lists have been sooo helpful. I will be on RC Explorer in March with my 3 yr old son. My husband and I have cruised many times but this will be the first time we are going with our son so it will be a whole new experience. My son is a very picky eater so I am keeping my fingers crossed that he'll adapt ok to the choices onboard. I do plan on bringing some snacks that I know he'll like... goldfish, Kixx cereal, and a package of juice boxes. We are right in the early stages of potty training and that is my biggest concern while on the ship. I wish I could bring our little potty to keep in our room, we aren't flying so in all actuality I probably could bring it?!?! We still have a month before we sail so I guess I'll see how things are with him then.

A few things I'll add to the list...

-Extra sun shield attachment for umbrella stroller. We had one when we were -in Disney and depending on where you are going the sun can be VERY strong!

-Small insulated cooler for bottle, cups, etc.

-iPad/iPhone loaded with movies, children's shows, games, music for naptime and bedtime. My son likes to fall asleep to relaxing music so I always have a bedtime music playlist that we can play.

Hope everyone has fun and safe cruises!!!

  5. On March 31st I will be docked at Port Canaveral from 1-11PM. While in port my 85 yr old grandfather and Aunt will be meeting up with us for the day. I will be traveling with my husband, 3 yr old son and mother and father-in law. We will have our own transportation to get around the area. Can anyone suggest somewhere we can go for lunch and maybe a nice outdoor area to spend some time at???

  6. Looking for any suggestions on what is best to do in Nassau with a 3 year old. We will be docked there on EOS April 1st approx. 2-12pm. I would definitely like to get off the ship and do something that we can all enjoy. What are people's thoughts on...

    -Atlantis

    -The zoo

    -going to a beach...again suggestions???

    Thanks in advance.

  7. This question is for my mother-in-law who will be cruising with us. She recently had gastric surgery and is still drinking a lot of protein shakes. Has anyone ever brought them onboard before and also she was wondering if she'd be able to pack her blender???

I know I have read that people have brought a case of water put a luggage tag on it and had no problem, is this true???

    Thanks for any advice.

  8. I've been trying to figure out what to do the day we are at Nassau. It will be my husband and I and 3 year old son. Going to the zoo sounds like something we would all enjoy. My question is this... if we take the bus, is it a safe way to travel with my 3 year old??? Do the buses have seat belts? Does anyone have any opinions on the best way to get there with our son. We will have our umbrella stroller with us as well.
