  1. In the most basic categories of the two options of Balcony or Spa Balcony rooms what is the difference? Is it essentially just the option to use the thermal spa area free of charge?

Im just wondering because I'm pretty sure its actually cheaper to get a regular balcony room and buy the spa pass as opposed to paying for the more expensive spa balcony.

Are there additional amenities to the Spa balcony that the regular Balcony rooms don't have? Thanks for any responses!

The way they price the spa rooms baffles me. My Haven spa suite at one point was costing less than the spa mini-suite room.

We got a Haven spa suite for our Breakaway cruise tomorrow. To go on a cruise with me, my wife needs the spa. She is a Queen and must be treated as such.

    I enjoy the spa too.

  2. For those who have cruised on this ship before, do you prefer the bed by the balcony or nearer the cabin door? Does it make a difference?

Makes no difference to me as long as I'm on the ship. :D

But my preference is to have it near the balcony. It has the look of a larger room that way. Plus the closet is a little easier to vet into.

  3. WE will be on the Breakaway in January. I just heard about The Vibe Beach club. I tried researching, but could not find too much info. Is this worth it? I will be traveling when school is in session. I don't think there will be many kids. The main pool and hot tubs should be o.k. Any info will be appreciated.

    .

    .....Vibe search

    Hope this helps.

  4. Here's a response that I got from NCL regarding the Cirque Dream show that are free if you have UDP. I couldn't make the reservation online so I called it in and they have trouble with it as well so the supervisor had to go research and get back to me. So does anyone have any experience with this?

"I got a response today about the Cirque dream charge issue on your bookings.

The Ultimate Dining Package on your bookings were given to you at no charge as part of a promotion being offered at the time of booking,

so it does not include the free Cirque dream show on the 1st night.

The show is only included on the 1st night if you purchased the Ultimate dining package for $119.00 per person for the 7 night cruise.

If you need further assistance please feel free to contact us or your Travel Agency."

That sucks. You would think that the current policy should apply to all.

  5. No, figured too late for the Vibe pass, being in a later boarding group. I was just letting you know what time we got there, and when we were allowed to board. Since people were boarding for a half hour before us, I figured they'd be gone - we got spa passes instead.

My thinking is I would rather wait at the port than and get on first rather than taking my time to get to the port.

My second cruise with my son, we got to the port around 11:15. We were going on Carnival. We got on the ship about noon. While hanging out in the ship, we noticed that more people were coming on but slowly. The computers went down and they had to do check in by hand.

So it's not just getting there early to get something, you never know what might happen.

  6. We went on an older ship a few years ago, and the stateroom we stayed in was right below the pool and you could hear people dragging their chairs and lounges. We decideded to avoid booking rooms directly below the pool area, but we are now booked in a stateroom right below the pool on the Breakaway.

.....we were on the Breakaway August 2013 and had room 14758. It was under the sundeck of the main pool. Never heard anything.

  7. I will be on the cruise that week as well. According to out roll call, there will be a travel agency convention going on on board. I am hoping that they will have meetings and presentations throughout the day to keep a lot people away from the pool.

  9. This will be our 3rd consecutive year going to Bermuda. Even though we live on Long Island we have spent the night pre-cruise in Manhattan, that way it's only a 10 minute or so ride to the port. We stayed in the Best Western in Times Square. If we didn't use points for a free room we would not have been able to stay at that hotel. I just checked the price for a room this Saturday and it was $368. The room is stylish and clean but also it is quite small.

Glad we have the rewards points.

  10. …..for my first cruise in 2006, my girlfriend at the time picked Alaska to go to and she picked the cruise line, which was Princess. The next one we went on was 1 month later on Carnival to Canada. This was because we were bringing my 9 year old son at the time. After that, I did mainly Carnival because I would normally cruise with my son and spending the extra money on a different cruise line would just go to waste with him. He would not appreciate the better food, service, etc.

Let’s move to present day. In 2010 I started going out with my childhood sweetheart. Being “Platinum” on Carnival I took her on a couple of cruises. Unfortunately, she ended up getting sick on them and said that she would not cruise on Carnival anymore. So when we were getting married in 2012, I booked us in a suite on the Norwegian Star. She had an enjoyable time on that one and wanted to continue cruising on NCL.

She found out a few weeks ago that she was comped a cruise from CAS on NCL. Needless to say, we’ll be on the Sun to Alaska next year. She also found out recently that she is a little short for getting another cruise comped by CAS, this time for Royal Caribbean. I hate when she gambles, but I’ll make an exception this time.

  11. Going on the 9/14 sailing of the Breakaway to Bermuda. I'm assuming there won't be many children with schools just starting. I also can't imagine it being all that full as it's basically the end of high season.

For anyone that's sailed around this time before, should I expect it to be fairly quiet, with plenty of seating around the pools, or is that totally wishful thinking on my end?

Just trying to figure out if it's just best to get Vibe passes for our trip, so as not to stress about finding seats.

    Any opinions appreciated :D

webbersworld, how come you didn't join our roll call yet? September 14, 2014 Roll Call

It's not always the kids that pose a problem, it"s the size of the pools for 4000+ people, they just can't handle that many.

If I did not have a Haven cabin, I would get Vibe passes like I did last year. It is a nice relaxing area.

You also have Spice H2O on deck 16 that is adults only.
