  1. Glad you like the car. One of my favorites and great fun to drive (when it works).

Finally got my initial problem resolved by talking to a supervisor. As others previously posted, when you talk to the call center, they "have their script" and that does not include helping you. I finally got a very nice lady who agreed redeeming rewards on the the Princess Barclays card is difficult. She said I was the second person she'd spoken to that day who had problems. She said she'd monitor my situation and promised to call me back w/an update in a few days. Hard to believe, but she did call back w/the good news that I got the reward credit.

However, now, I want to get credit for a cruise I paid for in late August. Have called and cked Barclays website but everything "is down". Cannot get any information. When I finally get thru on the phone, I am asking for a manager straight away. Not dealing w/the call center.

I do have a question that, maybe someone knows the answer.....can you redeem points for Future Cruise Credit that you have charged to the Princess/Barclays card?

In re-reading this post, it is striking how most of the comments are negative about the Princess/Barclays card. So negative that most of us have either canceled the credit card or plan to do so. Too bad. This used to be a great card but not anymore.

  2. Yeah! Finally got the problem resolved. My approximate-200,000 points paid for an approximate $4,000 cruise. Will trade in the rest of my 200,000-plus points for Amazon gift cards. Hope that is easier than this was. Then close out the account. Not going through this again.

Good luck to all of you going through this mess.

  3. "Not appearing on the Barclay's statement" is the same thing I heard several times for the cruise I paid for in November. Yet, it clearly appeared on my bill and I paid for it.

How can it not appear on my statement to be used for redemption but yet it somehow magically appears on my statement when it is time to pay them for it?

    ????????

  4. Caribill....you are right. Two times we have traded in points for a credit on the Princess Visa card. I think that benefit is no longer available. I say "think" because the six people and two managers at Barclays I have spoken to over the past month don't know if that is still an option. Can you imagine? These people are supposed to help you redeem your credit card points, but they don't even know the options. That is what I was trying to do this third time. But no one seems to know what I will get for my 400,000 points. Statement credit? Reimbursement for a cruise I recently purchased? Supposedly, someone will call me on Friday to let me know how this turns out. I am not confident this will have a happy ending. This credit card redemption program is a sham. I will cancel my two Princess Visa cards once I get this straightened out. Not worth the hassle.

  5. Thanx Keith, it looks like, at least the part of the thread that's clear as mud, your points are only good for Princess credit, in some form or another. Previously, and under the rules that we started with, you got credit on your Visa statement. 400K points was worth $7500 credit to my Visa, for whatever I purchased. The Princess card may be headed for the shredder. steve

  6. There was a thread that my wife saw, and I didn't, but it dealt with other disgusted and disillusioned Princess Visa cardholders who have "reward points" but can't get a straight answer from Barclay's about the redemption of these reward points. We've called their customer service line and spoken to 6 different reps, including one supervisor, and none of them can provide us with a satisfactory answer. We have in excess of 400K points, but we can't seem to redeem them as we have in the past...in fact we can't seem to redeem that all. I'm just disgusted and frustrated with the whole situation and the incredible ineptitude of the people with whom we've dealt. My suspicions are that this not accidental.

There's a lot at stake here, so a weapons grade letter, not an email, is my first choice, and the platitudes of servants is not likely to quell the fire. Still looking for the address of a bigwig at Barclay's....finding Swartz was easy. As noted by Keith (I think) the wigs at insular and scarce.

    thanx steve

ADD: Hey, sweetheart get Fidelity on the phone, it maybe time to get their credit card!

  7. I know that others have complained about the "rewards" system on the Barclay's Princess Visa card and I intend to write a letter to Jan Swartz, the Princess CEO, but can't seem to find the CEO for Barclay's, either US or just the Visa card person might suffice. Anyone have a name and address? Ain't foolin' (never do) with any underlings, only the boss. thanx steve

  8. The Princess Barclay's card used to credit your credit card statement $7,500 for 400,000 points. However, it now looks like you can only get $ statement credit for up to the amount you paid for a cruise. I have asked several of the people who answer the phone, but no one seems the know. The information on-line at Barclays.com is very confusing, too.

    Does anyone know the answer?

  9. Arriving at EZE/Buenos Aires airport and have reservations at a hotel in the MicroCenter area of Buenos Aires. Does anyone have an opinion about:

    1. Is it better/safer to take a taxi from the airport or have the hotel arrange a car to pick us up?

    2. Cost of a taxi ride?

    3. Safety of a taxi VS car arranged by the hotel? The hotel charges $55 US dollars.

    4. We will have the number of suitcases allowed by the airline for the two of us: two large bags and a carry on for each of us (total of four large bags and two carry ons).

    Appreciate your advice.

  10. We are scheduled to do this excursion when we sail on the Crown Princess from Buenos Aires in Feb. We did this back in '10 and I recall it was a pretty long walk, but level and not too difficult. Can anyone give me more info about how strenuous this will be? Princess rates it as "Moderate" but I'd sure like to have more info from anyone who has done this and recalls the degree of difficulty. thanx steve

  12. Thanx for your input. I considered that, but after redacting the account number and all of the totals, i was afraid they'd reject that, too. But maybe I'll try that next time. Too bad you can't speak directly with "shareholder benefits": it would be faster, way more effecient and much less frustrating. Oh well....thanx again. s

  13. I've had the hardest time getting my CCL shareholder OBC for our up and coming cruise on the Regal, just after T-Giving from FLL. My brokerage statements are from Fidelity and weirdly, the page that shows proof that I own CCL stock doesn't have my name on it anywhere....only the account number. Princess has rejected my faxes 4 or 5 times because I hand wrote my name on the xerox of the statement (other holding redacted). Finally in frustration I called Princess and bullied my way to getting my credit issued, mainly because I have Elite status, but this isn't the way to go and I have another cruise to fight. (Feb around South America)

Not sure my broker will be happy writing a letter on their letterhead, every time I need some sort of proof of ownership. Anybody else run into this problem? Thoughts? thanx steve
