1. Be sure to take a windbreaker kind of jacket - the breeze can be very cool out on the water in Lauderdale in Feb.

(:)we lived in Hollywood for years and DH was born and raised on Miami Beach:))

Thanks for the heads up. I am always prepared - lol. Have done this trip several times now so know what to expect :)

And you lucky guys, having lived there.

  2. I have been looking at the HAL site for weeks and on the shore excursions it had a 7 hour trip to Hollywood Beach and a transfer to Miami airport on the day we are flying back to London, February 8th 2015. Ou flight is at night. I went online today to book this excursion and it is no longer there. Has anyone any idea why? We are going to be in Miami airport for a long time.

I was looking at this excursion too, but as you say, it's no longer available. I seem to remember someone (maybe on here) saying it wasn't a popular one, so........

Anyway, I'll be doing the trip pre-cruise on the water taxi, so all is good.

You might want to look at the Land & Sea excursion. I've done this a couple of times now, and have opted for it yet again. It's a very nice way to spend some time on disembarking day. Good luck with whatever you choose.

  3. I might need to change my moniker...I am a DrNurseGeorge now...I was just reading some of the posts here from years ago and delighting in how fun these posts were.

My Husband, Travis and I will be taking a Noordam Cruise on February 27th for my 49th birthday. I will check in on the Roll Call board to see if anyone wants to say hi and eat birthday cake.

Having read every single one of your posts on this thread, and enjoyed them all, I now find out you are going to be on MY cruise on the Noordam. Hope I get to meet you both. Have a wonderful Birthday Cruise.

  4. A few years ago we were able to contact a person who lives on the waterfront exiting the harbor who would video/photograph you for a fee. I can't find the contact or if they are still doing that. You could tell them what day, ship, where you'd be standing/waving and they'd video you. Our grandkids loved it!

Does anyone know what the link is to them? The webcam they used? etc.

Unfortunately, the guy you're probably thinking of no longer lives on the waterfront, but the other website is still available.

  5. That's too bad. The BB King shows were standing room only. In fact, if you wanted a seat, you needed to be there early. This was on a 10 day Caribbean cruise in the spring. The passenger contingent was in no way young, but the dance floor was packed and the seats were full for three shows a night.

Hi POA1. I can second these comments. I for one was there for all 3 shows, every night they played. And yes, had to get there early to get a seat. I was on the 21 day cruise and BB King's Blues Club kept me very entertained. Hope they're as good again next year! Sorry I didn't get to meet you at the M&G - but nice to catch you on here.

  6. We have our first HAL cruise booked for February. We've been sailing Celebrity for a few years but booked this cruise for 2 reasons.......1) we wanted to try HAL as an alternative and 2) we love the itinerary.

But we are getting a little concerned at all the negative Noordam reviews!

We aren't 'high maintenance' and are happy with good food, good cabin, good staff and a couple of bars with live music. We're happy with that.

We're not 'moaners' and don't look for problems........just want a nice relaxing cruise.........chilling out.

Is the Noordam really that bad?

happygran - I've done the 21 day in Feb/March for the last 2 years now. Have to say I was dubious the first time, having only been on DCL, RCL and Princess previously. BUT, I had a blast. Staff were fantastic, cabin was lovely, I didn't starve (lol) and the music was great too. Love the introduction of BB King's Blues Club. Might even see you on board - may book this yet again for the same cruise as you.

I'm sure you will enjoy it - I met some really nice people too, which was a real bonus.

Only negative reviews I've read have been on the Med. Not sure why this is.

  7. Here's the new Cruise Atlas in PDF form for those of you who can't access it on the US HAL site.

Apologies for having the extra link out to Evernote, but my Tapatalk client updated this morning and the attach file functionality is broken. (Hooray for technology!)

That's great - thanks. Much easier to read and navigate through. :)

  8. I did not realize that people in other countries had different "HAL web sites" but I suppose it makes sense.

Here is the window that comes up when I click the brochure on the U.S. site -- it might be worth trying to see if it leads you to the brochure: http://www.nxtbook.com/nxtbooks/hal/cruiseatlas1516/

If you get the page open, among the icons along the top is one that looks like an arrow pointing downward into an in box. If you click that, you can download the interactive, or go to the bottom of the page and click on the line that says "click here to download the .pdf version ... " The .pdf file is 55MB.

Oh my word! Thanks sooo much for this. Looks like I'll be booking Nieuw Amsterdam for 28 days - woo hoo. Bliss. :D

  9. I think another CC member is going to post the link. If you want me to send you the link let me know your email address and I will send it to you.

Hi SailorJack. Another request for the link please, please, please. Have read most of your reviews which I have found highly entertaining. My email is nadinetidmarsh at hotmail dot co dot uk

Thanks you so much - and keep up the good work :)

  10.
Pat - I hope things go easy for your baby. It's so hard to let go but easier when they don't suffer. Give yourself time to grieve, then by all means, get you another one. So many animals are never lucky enough to be loved by someone like you. It can be hard to put yourself out there again after knowing the hurt of loss, but if you hadn't suffered the loss, you would never have known the love. I'll be thinking of you every time I stroke one of mine.
What a beautiful post. Those that have never had a pet won't know what you're going through. Those of us that have know exactly! Take care.
