Correct! If you want just “one little thing” I’d advise you to get in line before it opens then you can make a mad dash to fill up your plate with what you want.

The salad section is at the start of the line. You will be able to avoid the rest of the buffet by just leaving the line after you have prepped your salad.

  2. Thankfully the line moves pretty quickly. The salad part is the only tedious section as people take more time. The buffet section has the same set up as all the Carnival ships I have been on. One difference is there is no wok station. Instead there is an asian section just outside the buffet area at the aft ( where the seafood place is). This is only on sea days though. It is pretty good.

Hi, I hope you don't mind me jumping on this thread as everyone is so knowledgeable and provides such good information. I haven't been here for a long time, but this is my query -

With the medallion app there's a field for emergency contact, and a check box to apply the contact details to all passengers on the booking, defaulting to checked. All well and good for couples and families. I travel with a friend, we live in different cities and have different emergency contact people.

If I enter my emergency contact info and uncheck the apply to all box and save, it still applies my emergency contact info to my travel companion. He then goes into his medallion app, changes the emergency contact person, unchecks apply to all and saves, and it changes my details. This was happening a year ago and is still happening to newly booked voyages. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance 😊

We have a similar issue, but with birthdates. I am traveling with my husband for a transatlantic.  Then he is getting off the ship and my best friend is joinining me for a 7 day cruise. I got to keep the same cabin. Yay. The glitch is that when I put in hubby's birthdate, it applies to my friend's birthdate and when I change one, the other changes. So basically, they seem to have the same birthdate. On our invoice, all is good. IT cannot seem to fix the issue with the app.

But why were birthdates being transposed within each booking? Each person “should” (imo) have had their own unique profile, regardless of with whom they were sailing.  Passenger Mrs RealTrip’s birthday was the same whether she was sailing with Mr RealTrip or Mrs RealTrip’s friend.  Our “fix” from the IT folks in 2015 was to make sure that when we booked a b2b, either DH or me was lead passenger on both/all bookings.  That worked for the next five years, until this fardling app was made the be all and end all.  I just wondered if maybe @realtrip was also experiencing similar issues…

It is really strange. My date of birth is fine everywhere (app, computer and invoice). DH and DF can only have one shared date of birth. If I fix or if IT fixes one birthdate then the other becomes wrong (it takes the last fixed birthdate and applies it to both people.). Thankfully the invoices are completely fixed. But because of this issue, I can't become Ocean Ready because one of my travel companions has the wrong birthdate.

Our friends ended up with transposed BD's last year for a B2B2B booking.  What a mess and took several attempts over time to get it fixed.  Meanwhile, they had invalid booking in App (from App perspective) and were locked out of DMW as a n example).

But @realtrip had two bookings with two different cabinmates.

Yes, two bookings. Two booking numbers, two different cabin mates. Plus third mate shows up on both bookings on the app (not on the invoices)

and @realtrip - how long ago did you set up your profile with Princess?  This sounds vaguely familiar to what I’ve experienced with my corrupted POLAR data.  I have an email dated 2015 to my PVP detailing issues with not only the birth date but also the passport numbers for DH and me getting transposed with b2b bookings, issues that continue to cause grief to this day.  If, as Steelers36 has suggested, you get thrown overboard for messing with the App, I’ll throw you a life ring!  😜

I set it up a few weeks ago for DH and me. I have given up trying to get DF's birthday to work.

Hopefully she can check in on her own without the app. because, you know, I'll be on ship waiting for her to get on, LOL

  7. Hello,

I hope someone might have an idea.

    Here is my issue

I am going on a tranatlantic with DH (dear husband). After the cruise, he (DH) is getting off the ship. I am staying on (same cabin) and my DF(dear friend) is joining me for the next leg.

I have two booking numbers (one for each cruise. I see both on the app).

When I tried to sign up for the app, my DH's birthday was listed as my DF's birthday. So, I could not check in as it said the birthdate doesn't match with our records. I called Princess. They solved the issue. My DH's birthdate is now correct. We did our checkin. Yay.

Next, I go to do my second leg check-in. My DF now has my husband's birthdate. I called Princess back. They fixed DF's birthdate. Now, DH's birthdate is incorrect (it is DF's birthdate). They are unable to fix both in the app. But, both invoices are now correct.

On my DH and I's voyage all is good. We have check marks for everything but the arrival time (it is still too early. We are 200 days out). We are cruising first. Should I just leave it as it is?

DF can show up with no app, right? Her invoice has the correct date of birth. The app has DH birthdate, and I can't change it without messing up DH's.

Another thought was to try to fix hers once DH and I are on the ship. But, what if it messes up while onboard, yikes, then what happens to DH? Do they throw him overbard, stop him from returning to ship after excursions, make him work in the galley?

If we do nothing, will DF be denied boarding?

    Basically, What is your experience?

  8. Hello,

We will be doing our first transatlantic cruise. We are hoping to travel light. I have a few great cocktail dresses that pack well and don't take room. But, hubby's dinner jacket takes so much room! Is there any way we can dine in the dining room on formal night if he wears a nice shirt and tie? Or do we absolutely need a dinner jacket?

We will be on Sky Princess November 10 2023. Thank you for your help!

  9. Hello, I am planning my flight to Houston. I was wondering whether I should fly in on Wednesday or Thursday ( flight arrival early afternoon) for a Sunday cruise. I would like to see a bit of Houston and a bit of Galveston. We will not have a rental car. Is there enough to see to justify arriving on Wednesday? Also, we are coming from Montreal (it will be super cold here, so it will obviously feel wonderfully warm in Texas!). We thought we'd stay at an airport hotel in Houston (saw there was a bus to bring us into town). Then uber to Galveston on Saturday.
    Thoughts? Suggestions? Thank you bunches!!!

It's been reported by several people that the package including parking and transportation to and from the pier is no longer available.

We just reserved the Park and cruise at the Hilton Ridgefield Park for July 25th, 2022 (for 1 night pre cruise and 8 days of parking) We got a rate of 185$ plus tax (3 adults).

The Hampton Inn in Ridgefield Park also offers the park and cruise package ( more $$).

  11. Thank you all :o

All I hoped was to not get flamed because I wrote something wrong or ...whatever.... so I am pleased with the warm welcome !

Talk to you all later !

Your instructions are awesome. I used them last year and they were so helpful. I wanted to share with new cruising buddies but the pictures have disappeared. Anyone know how I could see them again?

  12. Hi

We usually get early dining and ask to be placed at a large table. Carnival has really done this well for us in the past and we have met some really nice people. This time around we booked too late and only YTD was left. I love my mom and we get along great but we will be spending all day every day together, I am afraid we will run out of things to talk about, lol. Do you think they might seat us with other people at a large table? What is the best time to show up for dinner to up our chances?

  13. I booked in Canadian dollars for the first time. Was told I had to phone in payments. My pvp will check for price drops. Carnival gave us a better exchange rate than what was posted online.

I think it will be advantageous as my cc charges a 2.5% conversion rate on American money so we saved that at least.
