  1. I just got the urgent final payment message too. It freaked me out as it said final payment is due March 20th but my Carnival account says March 30th.

I will pay on payday on Thursday, just to be sure but a little annoyed they moved up by ten days in the email. I called carnival and they confirmed due date is the 30th but I tend to worry too much, so better safe than sorry :)

Has this ever happened to you?

  2. Booked our first cruise for our family on the Carnival Breeze. I have a few questions since I've never cruised before.

    1) We are in the aft section of deck 6 (cabin 6458 and 6456) for my family of 5. I didn't realize the night club was right below us. Will it be loud? I booked through Costco with non-refundable deposit. If you tell me it's loud, could I call and change the cabin assignments? I'm not sure they even could move us without changing cabin types since I want the cabins right next to each other.

    2) Are non-alcoholic drinks provided at meals free of charge? I plan on purchasing the pop package anyway, but that doesn't include coffee and I'm hoping my breakfast will include coffee free of charge. ice tea and lemonade are free as are coffee and hot tea. But to get the better coffee you can purchase it.

    3) I have an offer in My Cruise Manager (that may or may not be working right now LOL) for 10% off an excursion package. I'm thinking this is a good deal and I need to book it (deadline is tonight, not sure if the website will work enough for me to even do it). we have done it and it's easy for a newbie cruiser. We have also done our own excursions. If you are having computer problems with the carnivasl site, call.

    4) How does the dining work? We selected the one where we can pick our own time, but that only applies to dinner correct? exactly So for breakfast and lunch do we just show up? you do and there are many options to choose fromPlease feel free to point me to appropriate sections on their website too. I've found it difficult to find the information I want. Are typical menus posted anywhere (for other than the specialty dining)? many are posted here on cruise critic, use the search tool I'd like to know what kind of options are typically offered in the main dining or at the buffet.buffet has the usual salad, hot meal and cold. Some changes daily. Try the deli (cooked to order sandwiches), the wok station (cooked to order stir fry), Guys burgers (for burgers and fries), Blue Iguana (for tacos and such). You can also do a sit-down lunch in dining room (caesar salad, burgers,...) oh, and there is a pasta restaurant that is free at lunch (made to order pasta) and pizzeria (24 hours)

    5) I plan on booking my excursions through Carnival since it's our first time cruising and the promise not to leave without you is attractive. Good idea?sure. Easy. After you have cruised once, you'll probably want to venture out on your own (cheaper, lol/less crowded)

I'm sure I'll have more questions, but that'll do it for now. Thanks!

    ask away!
  3. Hi

We will be driving from Montreal and we are thinking of staying at a hotel very close to port (walking distance; we are good walkers). All of those don't seem to offer parking. Could we park at the cruise port the day before our cruise and then we could leave our suitcase in the trunk and just walk out with a small carry-on. The day of the cruise we could get back to our car for suitcase and then check in. Is this possible? It seems like it would be easier than having to park at two different lots over two days.

  4. I agree Grand Turk is fabulous. You can also find some shade by the huge pool at Margaretville ( located right by the ship).

St Thomas is beautiful. I love Sapphire Beach ( google it, you'll see, incredible). You can get umbrellas and chairs ( I think it cost about 10$ for both).

  5. Thank you so much, SadieN. :)

Honestly, my biggest fear right now is crying in front of all the other passengers as we make our way to the deck. I know, stupid! LOL

When my step dad past four years ago, we also scattered his ashes at sea. I was fine until the two ship officers met up with us at guest services. I started crying and just could not stop ( tons of people were hanging around guest services, ugh). The ship officers were really nice and were very respectful as they led us to where we were to throw the ashes and gave a lot of time to pray and reminisce.

Later after all was done, sitting on the balcony with a glass of wine,my mom and I had a little laugh thinking about what all the people near guest services must have thought/imagined ( wow, those ladies must be in big trouble! down to the brig with them and whatnot).

Don't worry about getting emotional. You are doing a really beautiful thing but it is terribly sad. I'm sorry for your loss.

  6. I think that you guys comparing the menu to Applebees or any other USA chain is really silly!

They are trying to please many people with different tastes . We enjoy the dining experience in the MDR and are happy to say we've also enjoyed other cruise lines and higher priced land restaurants. There is no way to compare preparing a find meal for a few customers to trying to prepare a banquet style meal with a much larger than banquet style menu for sooo many people.

IF you don't like it then why post on this board and why sail on Carnival at all??

I don't understand all these complaints.

    Here-here!!!

  7. Instead of asking about a specific cabin, which then makes people go hunting for a deck plan, you could ask "Has anyone stayed in a Spa Balcony cabin on Deck 11 of the Triumph?"

The cabin for four people will be cramped. Two people on the regular beds; third person will be on an upper berth and the fourth on the single sofa bed. Not the most comfortable of accommodations but if you know the sleeping arrangements you can plan accordingly.

These cabins are near Camp Ocean so if you don't have (or don't like) kids, you might be surprised by the "toddler traffic".

You also have to go DOWN for EVERYTHING except for the Spa and Fitness Center. Being high up and forward will have the typical motion issues but your balcony view should be very good.

Silly question, I'm sure but I assumed 1102 was on Riviera deck but you say it is on deck 11. How does one know? It is easy with say cabin 7229, it's obviously on deck 7. I had imagined that a cabin on deck 11 would have 5 numbers like 11 102.

  9. I would also purchase it now. You never know if the price will go up. I also would think about prepaying gratuities. The more you pay off now, the less you'll have to put down later. Prices don't go down, just up. Both are refundable if you cancel the cruise.

  10. How does it work for little kids? Is there a separate muster drill for people with little ones? This is our first cruise with kids and now that I think about it, I don't remember seeing very little kids at our drills before.

They will put a bracelet on each child. ( Hint: if very young, put it around an ankle, it's so much easier on the child, he won't keep trying to take it off)
