  1. What good is a night light in the bathroom when you have the bathroom door shut? We plug ours in the spare outlet behind the TV so you can find your way from the bed to the bathroom.

I am still trying to figure out how one plugs a nightlight into the bathroom outlet. Every Princess ship i have been on has only had those special outlets ibt he bathroom that will only accomodate an electric shaver.

  2. We use a night light in the bathroom that only works when the lights are off. At night, we leave the bathroom door open so the light acts as a soft green beacon and provides adequate light when the door is closed. You could plug in another one in behind the TV if you wanted a soft night light in the cabin.

The cost was $2 at Big Lots.

How do you plug it in? the Princess ships I have been on do not have regular electrical outlets in the bathroom...

  3. If you know how I can place them side by side I would appreciate your help as I have two more countdown clocks I am going to add.:D

    LOL ScootsMom...

I would have to see the code, but those myspace counters are not designed to be compact. The nauticalcities one you are using is designed for a more compact look.

If you look at your code, you can actually decrease the size by adjusting the numbers that designate height and width.

Good luck and have great TIME ON THE HIGH SEAS!

  4. Hi, Does anyone have any information on the Fairfield Inn & Suites Fort Lauderdale Airport & Cruise Port on Griffin Rd, Dania Beach, Fl? Understand it's a new hotel. Any information about the area would be helpful.

    Thanks

  5. I've been trying to research hotels for our Mar 5 overnight before Oasis cruise and our criteria is shuttles from airport to hotel and hotel to port, free hotel breakfast and some grocery store/drug stores nearby (walking) to get water, beer and ideally some restaurants. I'm looking at ...

    a) Best Western on Stirling,

    b) Hampton on Stirling and

    c) Hampton North Airport.

Any thoughts on which would be preferred? THanks

a & b: can walk to fast food, TGIFridays, Dave & Busters, Ale House, Sweet Tomatos, diner (not recommended), Kmart, BJs

c: can walk to Winn-Dixie, Big Lots, liquor store, fast food, German restaurant

    Skatie...

We are staying at the Best Western near the a/p pre cruise and I have been looking for wine to purchase closeby to take aboard. I have contacted the folks at Penn-Dutch Foods and they are very helpful and courteous.

    Penn Dutch foods Hollywood Location:

    3950 North 28th Terrace Hollywood, FL 33020 954.921.7144

The Hollywood Penn Dutch is located just WEST of I-95 between Stirling and Sheridan. (Closer to Stirling Road)

  6. Not sure if you're leaving on a Saturday or Sunday but I don't think you can buy beer/wine/liquor until 12 noon on Sunday so keep that in mind. Unless I'm wrong, I'm sure the locals could verify that.

Thanks, but we are leaving on a Thursday, so I think we are covered

  7. We are staying at the Best Western on Stirling in Dania Beach pre cruise. Get in late after stores close and will need to go out in the A.M. to pick up some wine before boarding. We always take the boxed type wine for convenience sake. Any ideas on where we might be able to pick this up. Would like to do so on my walk that morning as we will be taking a shuttle to the port.

    Thanks

  8. We are sailing the Caribbean Princess out of Brooklyn on Sept 12 2009. Never been to the great city and really excited.

What airport should we fly into? We are wanting to stay in an area so we can do some exploring for a couple days precruise and we want to pay our respects at ground zero. Any ideas? Maybe somewhere in Manhattan. Prefer a hotel that is nice and in walkign distance to some sights. Not worried about traveling to the ship terminal, would rather stay where we want to sight-see and travel to the ship, as opposed to the opposite.

I have enjoyed reading this thread.

    thank you

  9. This is true.... I once without thinking about it tried to book a B2B that violated the PVSA and the booking agent told me it was an illegal cruise.

Great point Ginny. But they told you. What about people booking the questionable Hawaii and Alaskan cruises for example? Most of them have no idea this issue even exists. At a meeting at my TA a few weeks back, I discussed it within a small group I was sitting with. Out of 10 people who cruise at least 1-2 times each year, not one person knew about it. Looked at me like I had two heads. And my TA really was not too happy that I brought it up. Go figure

  10. I agree, but they would sure know if they find an extra $300 per person on their SS cards or credit card later.:D

As I said, my point is not whether they get charged after the fact, or if insurance would/would not cover.....but simply stating that most cruise vacationers have no knowledge of the legalese of violations such as this. They are trusting that the cruise lines are operating within the regs. What is unfolding is really a shame. It makes what should be a carefree, relaxing experience a lot less attractive.

  11. I don't think that you can claim a PVSA violation fine because, as a reasonable individual, you knew/should have known that the trip you were booking was in violation. And I'm pretty sure that "intentional violations of law/regulation" are about the same as criminal acts and, thus, not covered.

Leaving out whether or not trip insurance would/would not pay for a PVSA fine and also leaving out whether or not the cruise lines would charge back a passenger for the fine.....if there was a poll of "reasonable individuals" who cruise, I seriously doubt even half would know whether or not an itinerary was in violation. People such as yourself and others who posted on the previous PVSA string do have knowledge of such things, for a variety of reasons, but I truly suspect that most people who book cruise vacations are not going to be saavy about PVSA regs.
