  1. We are sorry that the Dynamic Dining modifications remain a concern. However, we have confirmed that when Ovation of the Seas repositions to Australia it will revert back to Dynamic Dining Choice and Dynamic Dining Classic. We believe listening to our guests is the key to continued success. Please accept our apologies for the disappointment our previous response may have caused.

After your response I emailed the person in the executive office I had been conversing with about the removal of Dynamic Dining indicating someone from RCI had advised it would be reinstated. I asked has the removal decision been reversed, this is the response I received:

    "Good morning Mr. xxxx,

Thank you for taking the time to follow-up with me.

Our decision regarding Dynamic Dining has not been changed for any of our markets. I am sorry for any misunderstanding.

    Best regards,

Remember this is the Executive Office, which is Mr Bayley's (President & CEO) offices.

Read in to this what you will, but I suspected this all along. I am now 100% certain Dynamic Dining will not be on any Ovation cruise this Australian Season. I initially queried to this so called change because it is 100% opposite to what was announced previously and I wondered if the person who wrote the response to Avalon had their dining terminology mixed up. RCI previously indicated that DD would remain for the Chinese market and it would change to My Time Dining during the cruise to Australia from Singapore.

By the way, I removed all the contact details this time, as last I time I posted something from this person in the Executive Office my post was deleted by the moderators.

  2. It is possible that there would be a new set of menus, combining items from all 4 DD menus each night, or rotate the current menus, e.g. Tonight every restaurant serve the Grande menu and it is formal night, then tomorrow the Silk menu etc.

Based on the sample menus from the official FAQ, it doesn't look like it.

Hardly any Asian, Silk style dishes at all. To me it looks pretty much like the bog standard RCI menus

  3. Here is the reply to my question put to RCI:

Thank you for contacting the Executive Office of Royal Caribbean International. I am pleased to be handling your correspondence on behalf of Mr. Bayley.

We are happy to learn that you will be joining us on the Ovation of the Seas in December. We appreciate your feedback regarding our Dynamic Dining program. We are always looking for ways to enhance our guests’ vacation experience, but we have not made any changes to the dining structure for Ovation of the Seas. In the event we decide to make any modifications we will advise our guests immediately. Additionally, I have reviewed your reservation and found that your dining option is Dynamic Dining.

  4. I have a question about this : "We find that a little inconvenient, so we just bring a spare keycard with us from a previous cruise

and leave it in the slot at all times."

I think this is a great idea and I already have our "previously cruise card ready)..What does your room steward think about this? Doesn't he/she need to put their own card to activate the temp when coming in to clean etc..? I also heard somewhere that it's used in a similar fashion for the lights as well.

As someone who is in the travel industry you should always put a card in the slot when you are not in the room. Besides the AC not running, any hotel employee can see when you are not in your room.

  5. Just received the following response to my complaint about removing DD.

They couldn't even get my name right, obviously a cut and paste with someone else's name

    Dear Mr. Adamo:

Thank you for contacting the Executive Office of Royal Caribbean International. I am pleased to be handling your correspondence on behalf of Mr. Bayley.

  6. Kids are allowed in Chops. The only restaurant that kids are not allowed is Chefs Table and the specialty dinners with wine pairings.

    From the RCI Website

    9. Are children allowed to dine in our Specialty Restaurants?

Chops Grille and Portofino: All guests 13 and over are welcome; children under 13 years may book only before 7 p.m. Thereafter children under the age of 13 are not allowed. All guests under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

  7. On Radiance last October we took both our kids (6 & 3) to all speciality restaurants with the exception of Chops. They did state in the daily program that kids were not allowed in Chops, but like everything, I bet it wasn't enforced. However we did Chops twice and didn't see any kids.

I'd also recommend Giovanni's for a 10 year old, however if you want something different and they are good eater then maybe Izumi would be good too.

  8. MTD is basically like DD where you pick your own time for dinner each night. But the question is.........will it be in just ONE restaurant or will we be able to enjoy all 4 free restaurants and will the menus be different in each restaurant.

Yes I understand that having used MTD last year on Radiance. Surely if they were going to be different on the Quantum class then they would call it something different like say, Dynamic Dining! MTD is a well established procedure and I can only think we will end up with one menu in all 4 complimentary's.

    Time will tell.

  9. Hi there,

Dinning reservations have just opened up for my Ovation cruise in December and frustratingly, I cannot book anytime between 1730 & 2000 for a table of 4. If I put 2 or 6 people then all times are available. This is the same for all specialty restaurants.

I have 4 adults spread across 2 cruise reservations and 1 reservation has 2 kids included. Kids won't be coming to the specialty restaurants, so I just want a table of 4 at 7pm. So I think I have two options:

    1. Book 2 tables of 2 and hope they can be merged, but won't know till I get on the ship.

    2. Book a table of 6 and then amend to 4 once onboard asking for a refund to credited to the ship account for the surplus 2 seats.

What would you do? Anyone got history on getting tables put together at last minute?

    Cheers
