Just noticed my Ovation cruise ex Sydney reservation on the 15th December has changed from DD to MTD without advising me.

Not happy!!!!!

Is it possible all the conflicting stories are because RCI will have a different program in the future for different boats within the Quantum Class?

For example, Anthem is based more around the American market that prefers classic. So maybe DD will disappear from Anthem.

However for Quantum and Ovation which will be based mainly in China, it will be completely different. The Chinese market is very very different to anywhere else in the cruising world. Also when these ships move to Australia/NZ for a short season they may only have DD as it more preferred by these customers.

I think RCI would be stupid to try and make one rule fits all markets in the modern day world of cruising.

When I search for Ovation of the Seas on the Marine Traffic iPad app it keeps showing the boat in Fukuoka Japan.

Final post from me.

Day 16 on the cruise and everything now seems to be operating normally. I also now have iOS 9.0.2 installed on my iPhone 6.

So the iOS 9.0.1 update is not for my iPhone 6 so I don't know if that makes any difference.

I think RCI tech has been doing some updates as I have now been able to log my iPhone 6 into the ships wifi with no changes on my phone. The front desk knows nothing about any changes so I suspect they are doing some remote work. I can't connect 100% of the time, but it's is getting better each day.

'IF' I can get some decent wifi whilst ashore in Moorea I will download 9.0.1 tomorrow and let you know.

Just to confirm, nobody with an iPhone 6 that has iOS9.0 onboard the Radiance of the Seas can connect to the ships wifi. I have had no problems with any other wifi connections since moving to iOS9. I can't speak for other ships although the official email from RCI HQ i was shown alluded to a fleet wide problem.

Further to my last, I have now seen an iPad 2 with iOS9 working onboard the Radiance. So it seems to be more a combination of iOS9 and certain devices.

Definitely doesn't work on iPhone 6 as quite a few people have complained to the front desk.

How about making calls/texting outside of the WiFi, is that still working?

Haven't tried as I have no need. However, my phone shows no service when Aeroplane Mode is off

Just boarded the Radiance and I am unable to log my iOS 9 iPhone 6 into the ship wifi.

The Front Desk advises that an email has been sent from head office advising that iOS 9 has an issue with the type of wifi used on the RCI ships and won't work until Apple releases a fix.

So be warned, don't upgrade if you have an upcoming cruise.

Make that a third person wanting to know the answer to this question.

Departing Honolulu for the first time next month. Just wondering if anyone had any pearls of wisdom about the embarkation process?

Our cruise leaves from Pier 2 with check-in starting at 1200 for a 1800 sailing on the Radiance.

I'm sure the process is straight forward but let's just say I like to be prepared. :)

I don't suppose this is tied to an M-Life status?

Probably not as I don't not know what M-Life status is!

I just got an offer from an online TA and they were designating a pkg with air and hotel as VIP. It was across several lines though

No package booked, only the cruise.

Not travelling in a group and as I said the upgrade was part of the fare I purchased.

I'll try the priority boarding lane and see where that gets me :)

My dealings with RCI on the phone have given me the impression they don't know the difference between a plane and a cruise ship. From Australia I think we get redirected to the call centre in the Philippines.

Maybe that is it, I'm Australian, thus VIP. Maybe that should really read VVIP! ;)

The double upgrade was package that was offered for sale, hence the reason for booking it.

First RCI cruise, booked online for a inside cabin with a double double upgrade to balcony stateroom. Assigned deck 8 on Radiance and I have VIP printed on my Luggage Tags.

I've searched high and low and cannot find what this 'VIP' means. Thoughts?

Are you implying that they will convert to CAD to USD on day of travel at the exchange rate at the day of travel?

Anyone got experience with bringing water cases on in Honolulu?
