  1. The cruises need to fill 2000+ passengers, so there are bound to be some that are not experienced nudists (the cruise might be the first place they have ever been in a public setting with others while nude). They might not know how to act in a nude environment (try to keep eye contact, sit on towels, etc) but the experienced ones won't react at all to you (or themselves) being nude. The experienced ones should be relatively free of phobes, too, but anything is possible with the first timers.

For the most part, you have a better chance of a boat full of fun people who just want to have a good time and not cause anyone else any problems on a nude cruise than a textile one. They are more likely to go with the flow if there are minor issues and not react with an attitude that drags everyone around them down. They are also more likely to participate in activities and interact with you than on a textile cruise.

  2. I'm looking forward to Jester's for some night-time fun! This venue is gone from the entire RCL fleet in a couple of months as Adventure is the last ship to have the 2-tiered night club. She's being refurbished in October (aka. public space being converted to more cabins, and thus more crowded )

Prior to the dry dock, is Jester's still on deck 3 forward? We are sailing on Adventure in 29 days (getting off just as OP is getting on!). It's been 10 years since we were last on this ship, so it has probably gone through dry dock changes at least once since then. We just upgraded to a Junior Suite, our first with RCCL.

  3. I am going for my first nude experience on the beach, with Club Orient resort. I am talking a cruise that stops in St. Maarten and will head to the Orient Beach. I am going solo, might feel a bit odd going on my own, hopefully will find someone on the ship(another solo)who wants to share the experience of nude bathing and sunning.

Good luck finding someone to go with. If we were on your cruise we would go with you! There are some really nice guests at Club Orient (the resort behind the nude end of the beach) that run different games and activities to try to get cruise passengers to come join in and be brave enough to take their suits off. Club Orient is closed in September (except for the restaurant and beach bar), so I don't know if they have anything organized then, but otherwise there are usually friendly "beach ambassadors" trying to convert whoever is willing to give it a try. Even if you go alone, the nudists on the beach are really friendly and will hopefully help you feel more at ease. Then once you see that it isn't a big deal AT ALL, you can laugh at all of your shipmates that were too scared to go to Orient and give it a try!

  4. As far as getting prepared for being with nudists... I'm not sure a cruise is the best first social nude experience. If you decide you hate the idea, you are stuck on the ship for 10 days. You can keep your clothes on, but you will still be surrounded by others who will be nude. A nude beach or a nude resort gives you the chance to leave early if you really decide it isn't for you. If you have gotten to the point of being interested, there is a high probability that when you try it you will have a great time, but you never know and those 10 days could go by awfully slow!

Just do whatever you would do if everyone was clothed. Social nudity isn't about sex... That's what the couples cruises are for.

  5. Well, there are nude (or to be more accurate: clothing optional) cruises and then there are couples (or to be more accurate: swingers) cruises. The nude cruises are, to the best of my knowledge, only run by one travel company - Bare Necessities Tour and Travel. All of the other ones are couples cruises, which pretty much implies couples only. The nude cruises are open to singles and BN will even help find a cabin mate to help with costs (the per person cost on their website assumes two people in the cabin).

  6. The nude portion of the beach is in front of Club Orient. There is a small pile of rocks going down to the water just after Pedro's Beach Bar. That marks the beginning of the nude beach. A little further up is Club Orient's Perch Bar and at the end of the beach is Club Orient's Papagayo Restaurant.

I love this restaurant. First time I went it was strange sitting in a restaurant naked as most places don't allow this. Loved it! Not the best food in the world but the atmosphere made up for it. Going back on my 08/28 cruise and can't wait. Enjoy!!!:D

The food was a lot better last year when we stayed at Club Orient for a week. The atmosphere is even better for dinner/dancing, but you won't get to see that when on a day trip from a cruise.

  8. The Bare Necessities cruises are clothing optional, so someone uncomfortable being nude doesn't have to participate. You have to be clothed in the main dining room, so there are always clothed people around on the ship to blend in with. And I am sure there are some spouses that remain clothed the whole time.

  9. IF you happen to book one of the Full Ship Lifestyle Takeovers (That regularly use RCCL, Celebrity and now MSC Divina) you can be naked on deck when not in port!!

But the original question was about nude cruises, not swingers cruises. Bare Necessities runs true nudist cruises, where you can be nude anywhere on the ship other than the MDR when not in port.

  10. Keep in mind that st. Bart's closes up in the afternoon like in Europe, so majority of shops were closed when we went...plus it was the worst ferry ride over...so rough..I was si ck the entire time both ways...

That pretty much confirms what I've heard about the rough ride. So glad our cruise stopped in St. Barth's itself. We only had to deal with the mass confusion of tendering to shore!

  11. Anguilla is closer, so the ferry ride is pretty quick and the channel between the islands is pretty calm. We've never been; others say it is nice, but not much to do there other than go to the beaches. We have been to St. Barth's. The ride over from St. Maarten is rougher (can't actually vouch for this as our cruise stopped at St. Barth's itself, again going by what others say) and will drop you off in Gustavia. You can see some pretty impressive yachts in the harbor and there is plenty of shopping there, too. It will be expensive. Within walking distance there are the ruins of Fort Karl overlooking the town and Shell Beach, which you can also walk to. We did a cab tour around the whole island which was around €70 (about $80) for four of us, if that gives you an idea of costs.

  12. I always assumed jet blast had a lot to do with removing the sand. We did the Captain Alan Around SXM tour this February and when we got to Maho it didn't look any better or worse than before, but we never got that close in to get a good look. We fly to SXM next month, so we will get a closer look then. We have a crazy friend who likes to do the fence riding there.

Orient Beach on the other side of the island definitely has the sand come and go over time, so I would think the same happens on this side of the island.

  13. Hmmmmm, well now I know not to use the link above that says "Find your Carnival roll call" because it doesn't work! I had a feeling this was happening. Good searching and thanks for the info! Yet another reason Carnival just needs to announce it already! They obviously have made the decisions, the longer they wait the more answers we will find on our own!

I've never gotten the Find Your Roll Call to work for any cruise line if you are looking more than a few months out.

I hope I didn't ruin Carnival's master plan by starting that other roll call spilling Miracle's 2017 home port.

Splendor has been spotted on the HI ports schedule. Too bad as its too big for Kauai.

Guys is extremely overrated and won't eat Mexican in a ship. Too many issues with that.

    Will enjoy the Tandoor though.

Wonder how she'll get here? Maybe the larger Canal will be open? Panama Canal is on the destination drop down list.

Even if Guy's is overrated I understand they have better burgers than the usual dried out hockey pucks at the Lido grill on most ships. Does anyone know if the Carnival 1.75 upgrade at least brings in somewhat better burgers?

Is there a dedicated Tandoor station? We loved that on Freedom a couple of years ago. We also loved the Mongolian Wok, but that's not on Miracle.

Spirit class ships are below Panamax, so Miracle should be able to go through the original canal.

  14. I will be cruising on the Enchantment in January so I am going to follow this thread. I have done the big ships, and the small ships and hope to find the EOS just right. It will be our first cruise for our nephew (graduation present from us) so I hope everything is perfect for him. I would love to see another family member addicted like I am.

My DW and I share that sentiment. We sailed on Enchantment before it was stretched and absolutely loved it. Whenever we plan a cruise we first check out its itinerary. I wish she was still sailing 7 night cruises:(
