I am not so sure that Royal doesn't read these boards. CEO Michael Bayley, when he was head of Celebrity (the last few years) did have people reading and sometimes responding as "Official Celebrity". His office responded very quickly to any emails sent to him. Most RCI email addresses are first initial, followed by last name @rccl.com

Note that this thread was started almost a uyear ago.

What provisions are you making on your new dining programs (as well as those on the smaller ships) for vegetarians and those like me who will also eat fresh fish (not shell fish)? Will we be able to find 10 different entrees on a 10 day cruise?
-
The general rule on all cruise lines is that the longer the cruise, the older the crowd. That being said, Royal is likely to be a younger crowd than Celebrity.
We will be taking that same cruise in November (and we are older and sail both RCI and X). Remember that this cruise consumes to full work weeks, which will be harder for most working people.

Thank you for a great review. I've been following your review with great interest since we are booked on a b2b in November (21 days) out of Fort Lauderdale.
It is really strange that there is only one production show tonight if indeed you are sailing with over 2000 passengers (near full double occupancy).

A fascinating review, as always. Thank you.
I hope that you will get a chance to post the menus from the included dining places either while on the cruise or when you get home.

My question...I was surprised by your comment that the sofas were different sizes in your cabin vs your sons. Were they both sofa beds? We have a boardwalk balcony cabin 9729 booked for our family of 4 (yes, we are cheapo too!) and hoping the kids will have the larger sofa bed since I believe our cabin will have the same configuration with the sofa near the balcony.
Karen
All cabins on the Oasis/Allure with accommodations for more than 2 have the sofa by the balcony.

does anyone know if it's possible to just have a cheese & cracker plate delivered each evening in place of the surprise plate (...of raisins, chips and breadsticks! lol)
It has always been an option.

We have done 3 b2b's on Royal Caribbean in Fort Lauderdale. On one, CBP came on board. On the other two, we met in a lounge about 10, were escorted off the ship through CBP and after a short wait were able to reboard. We always had the same cabin for both parts and were allowed to return to it as soon as we reboarded.

It's not about changing the menu. RCI has decided that those they are attempting to attract as new customers don't like the current dining systems of same table, same time, same waiter, same table mates, two formal nights, etc,. They did that several years ago by introducing Any Time Dining and a variety of specialty restaurants. You might as well get over it. Dynamic Dining will be implemented on every ship where it is possible to do so.
I think you are rushing your predictions. We will see how many loyal Royals will stop sailing on any ship with DD.

For the 'up to 30 pieces' Elite coupon, you have to send them all at once, correct?
I'll also doing this sailing and having never sailed that long before, trying to wrap my head around packing for this long.
Yes. In certain areas, it is only 20 pieces
If your roommate is also elite, you each get a coupon.

RCI has decided that DD is the way to attract new cruisers who are not interested in the traditional dining style. Why should they dilute the DD experience and undermine their strategy?
Because they will lose a lot of old customers who prefer to have the same wait staff every night.
We will see how it works out. Does it spread to the smaller ships? I hope not.

I do hope that the contactmichael @ celebrity.com
will be updated to contactLisa.
That office is very responsive to customers comments.

I would leave Ocala the day before. You may save money by driving most of the way and staying at an inexpensive hotel in Broward of Palm Beach County.
I would be exhausted driving down to get there in time to board and lose out on some of the enjoyment of the first day.

Book soon! Aft facing balcony cabins generally sell out quickly. Indeed, you might be too late for this coming summer.
On the other hand, most of the best viewing is from gthe deck, where you will want to move around.

Correct me if I'm wrong but it's not the same thing.
If someone flew American Airlines from Seattle to Vancouver to Seattle than onto Hawaii that wouldn't be allowed?
Pretty sure it is.
The law does not apply here since you are flying a US airline. However, if Air Canada or any other foreign airline on a flight from Seattle to Hawaii with a stop in Vancouver, it would be illegal.

They are really two single beds pushed together. It is larger than a queen but smaller than a king.
-
Look on the bright side. I had a friend who made it to Coco Cay a few years ago, but then the seas picked up and they could not return to the ship. They brought blankets and food and the group slept on the island.
-
PVSA also applies to airlines. No foreign carrier can fly between two U.S. cities without a call at foreign location. British Air cannot get passengers in Boston, fly to NYC and then to London. They pick up Boston passengers and fly outside U.S.
Unless something hasa changed recently, I do not believe your example is correct. I have flown ElAl from Miami with a stop at JFK to pick up more passengers and then on to Tel Aviv. Passengers could not fly just the Miami to NY leg.

Hi Andy,
Thanks for volunteering to answer questions. We will be on the January 4 sailing.
I am wondering if they will have coupons for Elite drinks.
Enjoy you cruise.
-
Really enjoying reliving our cruise with you. We had done the same tour with Mario the last time we were in Colon; so we just stayed on board and relaxed.
-
I wonder how many people on the Eclipse crossing will be worrying over their flights. I read that the ship will be arriving in NY a day late due to the itinerary change caused by weather conditions. Could cause a few problems I should think.
But, that is not the end of the cruise; it is only a stop on the way to Miami, where they expect to arrive on time.

We sent an email to Adam Goldstein late Friday afternoon expressing our concerns about how Dynamic Dining might affect us on our 21-day b2b on the Serenade next November. We have dietary restrictions and find it helpful to have the same staff each night.
This morning (early on the first business day after our email), we got a call from someone in his office allaying our concerns and promising that all of our comments would be forwarded to the appropriate people.

She did 11-day R/T Ft. Lauderdale, sailing half way through the canal; we were on it December, 2006.
