  1. Keep in mind that you can only bring back one carton per person duty free. I always declare the extras I bring back - sometimes charged, sometimes waved through. If you do get charged the extra duty it is $10 per carton. Even with that MUCH cheaper than NY prices.

The ships have Marlboro 5 carton boxes for $160. They sometimes have three carton specials for $110.

  2. All those invited to the slot tournament will have a cocktail party the first afternoon shortly after sailaway. You'll get your assignment for the first round and have the rules explained. It will probably be held in Headliners.

  3. I loved Ocean Blue and will certainly go there again next time on the Breakaway. I had the Jonah crab risotto and the charred broccoli - both were so good and I still lament over the little bit I left because I was so full - wish I had a doggie bag.

The bread is also wonderful but don't fill up on it. I had the cheese plate for dessert - yummy.

Is it dinner time yet - I'm starting to drool.

  4. Do I understand correctly that you can put your room card into the slot machines on the Breakaway and charge it to your onboard account that way?

Yes you can. You will need to set up a PIN number first at the cage.

  5. Please forgive me if this question has been asked in the 6 months, while I have been away. I did do a search but really couldn't find this answer.

I have a land casino comped cruise. I know I get the drink card, CAS has already told me that. Does this mean I start out as "hot" or would I still just get a little drink card attached to my room key like in the past. The hot level appears to be all things that was extended to me in the past except for the specialty dining one evening would be new.

Also can you move up a level during a cruise or is it just on the following cruise, if you take one within a year.

I know I can turn my earned points in at the end of the cruise for my on board expenses, but do they still give you a larger credit off of your bill than your rewards points at their discretion.

You could potentially move up a tier during the cruise - in my experience I moved up to VIP status - I was given the new drink card but all other perks take effect on subsequent cruises,

BTW - I had to ask the host for the upgraded card - after checking they did give it me. I would imagine it's at the host's discretion. (Stupid me - I actually thought it would be automatic - that someone would "just know". No bells and whistles, no announcements to the crowd of my achievement; no balloons falling from the ceiling) So - keep track of your points and if you think you've gotten enough points to move up, don't hesitate to ask.

  6. I learned and just called the pre-cruise concierge, 1-855-625-4283, to make cabin requests. Empty the mini fridge, extra hangers, pillows (there's a menu) & towels. Choc covered strawberries & chilled pinot ready in the suite. I also requested a table for 11 people at 5:15 in the MDR on day 1.

Another vote for in suite dining on your balcony - time it for sail away from one of the islands. We love it!

  7. We were in the AA 10006 on the 2005 Xmas cruise. The front balcony was great for arriving and leaving port; we found it much too windy for cruising. The cabin actually has two balcony doors, a "regular" inside door and a bulkhead door that needs to be latched open. I'm not even sure you would be able to open it under full speed. We found that one night when the bulkhead door was not closed, the wind whistled in the cabin all night - we made sure it was shut tight after that.

The view, however, was fabulous. If not being able to use it whenever you want is not a problem for you, then go for it. We found we used oour side balcony when the front was not possible.
