  1. I am a platinum cruiser on Carnival. I am also a Diabetic and recent Bariatric Bypass patient. I cannot have more than 5 or so grams of sugar in a beverage as well as absolutely no caffeine, nor alcohol. Keeping that in mind, I take on board with me at embarkation: bottles of Trop 50, Diet Ocean Spray, & Welch's Light. I also bring on water bottles and Crystal Light drink mixes. NONE of these come in a can!! Carnival does not provide any beverage onboard other than water out of the tap station or skim milk on the buffet station that I can safely drink. To whom do I voice my concerns and questions about this new policy to?? Did Carnival take into consideration any of us that are in the same situation?? OR do they care?? Please any help or tips on what to do? I have an up coming cruise in September on the Magic already paid for.

You should contact Special Needs and then get a note from your doctor that says you have to take them. Good luck. Hope that works for you.

  2. Thanks, everyone for all the suggestions. I found a singles group booked on this cruise, but nothing more.

Garsny, I am not concerned about a gay group. People are people to me. Doesn't matter what their sexual orientation is or for that matter what group they belong to.

Can I ask, just out of pure curiosity, what is the reason for not wanting to be booked on a cruise with a group? I'm booked as part of a group for my Oct cruise, and I can't imagine why we would be nothing anyone. We will be doing seminars on the ship and themed excursions, but that's about it.

My reason is because I noticed that the prices were not dropping but cabins were filling up really fast and we are still 8 months out. I don't mind groups otherwise. Actually, unless they are loud or all wear the same shirts, you never know they are there. Sometimes the ones who do get noticed are actually fun. :)

  3. My daughter booked a cruise for her, her dad (my husband), and me for December 2013. She wanted to treat us to a nice short cruise since getting her first professional job. In July 2013, my daughter passed away. We decided to take the cruise in remembrance of her. We went and took a picture of her and a bottle of her favorite sparking cider (she didn't drink wine). We met the cabin steward while we were unpacking the first day, and he asked about the picture of her. We told him and asked if we could have some ice for the cabin. When we returned that evening, he had set up the ice bucket like the bottle contained the finest champagne ever. Had a nice towel and 2 very fancy wine glasses brought for us. He surprised us each night with a refresh to our ice bucket and cider bottle and fancy wine glasses and something special by her picture and one night a single tiny flower by her picture. Something to make our first cruise without her special to remember.

  4. On deck 3 aft, there is the galley between the rear elevators and midship. If you go up to deck 4, they sometimes close off the Limelight Lounge and you are unable to go forward from the rear elevators. If you want to go to the Serenity deck and are unable to use the stairs outside (I am disabled and had to use the elevator), you have to go to the forward elevator and wind your way through hallways of cabins to get to the doors to the Serenity deck. Not real well marked from inside. All elevators were really slow and quite a few shut down for unknown reasons during our cruise. Only certain elevators went above deck 10 (can't remember which ones).

One odd thing is that if you have YTD, you have to check in at deck 5 near Taste Bar (aft of casino) before being allowed to go down to deck 3 to the dining room.

We were on deck 7 aft for our cruise. In order to get to the Liquid Lounge (show theater), if cabin stewards had carts in the hallways, we had to get on rear elevator, go down to deck 5, walk to glass elevators, and go down to Liquid Lounge on deck 4.

Once you get used to it, it really isn't too bad.

  5. If you have Your Time Dining, you have to first go to deck 5 near the Taste Bar to sign in for dinner before going down to deck 3 Sunrise dining room (aft). If you are disabled, they let you bypass this and go directly to the dining room.

Deck 3 does not go all the way through from aft to mid ship due to galley being there. Sometimes, deck 4 was blocked off from going all the way through when the Limelight Lounge was closed off.

For Punch Liner club, you have to enter through the forward entrance and exit through the rear doors. Not well manned and very confusing and crowded.

Check out Taste Bar around lunch time. Chicken with honey mustard is awesome !! Rest of food on ship was pretty good, not over exciting. Cucina del Capitano is a MUST !! Food is excellent.

If you want a quiet place to be out on deck, try deck 3 both sides.

We enjoyed the ship, but it's layout is confusing and at times doesn't make sense. Get there early to the shows because the seating is limited. The lounge is very small (and not very handicap friendly once people get in there and start moving the chairs around).
