If you are new to uber....load the app into your phone...adding CC payment information.

When you need a ride, enter the destination address into the app and 'call for an uber'.

At the airport, simply ask a security person or information desk attendant where uber picks up.

If your trip begins at the airport, I suggest that you walk to the uber pickup area before you call for an uber.  There will likely be ubers ready to pick you up at the pickup area.

Too far? Google says 20 minutes. You're fine. Heck, we usually stay in West Palm Beach.

If you're not going to have a car, you can do an Uber to the port.

We haven’t decided on a car just yet. Debating the issue as we speak. 😉  cost comparison between Uber from the airport, then Uber to Port Everglades. Also if we can pick up our wine within walking distance to the Inn where we’re staying.

LBTS is often considered one of the better beach locations on South Florida.  Uber to the port will be reasonable and readily available.  It's a great place to stay. Have fun.

What we wanted to hear. Thank you.

Easy to schedule Uber to the port or taxi or private car.  Lauderdale-by-the-Sea is a nice place.  Be sure to go to Aruba's Cafe - great food and get the Bimini Bread.  Our other favorite spot to eat is Laspadas - best cold subs in the world!

We’re staying at “Blue Strawberry Inn”. Have u heard of it? If so, is there anywhere in that area to pick up our wine for the cruise? Grocery store preferably as we might need some snacks for the 2 days at the Inn. Thanks for the tip on Aruba’s, will definitely try it!

  4. We have temporarily booked a pre cruise, smaller beach area hotel here. Are we too far from the cruise terminal? Anyone have any input on the area, cost of transportation to Port Everglades, and any other information that might be helpful for us? We booked our stay for 10/31-11/02, then on the Coral sailing through the canal on November 2. Because of the big boat show in FLL, rates in the area are just too high for us.

  5. Many will love the medallion, some won't, I just wanted to post to people that there is a choice.

And thank you for this posting. As to your original post, I did not know that it was even possible to make a choice. We appreciate your help. As a p.s., does anyone know if the Coral is Medallion ready yet?

I've had good results on https://www.cruisedeckplans.com

I have also, but some years ago a gentleman had a site that a number of people commented on saying that they were hoping that CC would make it a sticky because it had many, many pictures of cabins submitted by actual cruises who had stayed in those individual cabins and then sent them to him for his site. Hoping that someone will remember him. Thanks for your response though.

  7. We have taken Alaskan cruises, done a land tour on our own in a rental car, taken a Princess cruise tour with a 3 day land segment and a 7 day cruise, and taken a Princess Connoisseur Escorted cruise tour with an 8 day land segment and a 7 day southbound cruise.

The Connoisseur Escorted cruise tour was by far the best one. You will see the most, get to stay in several lodges, tour Denali park, and have absolutely no hassles or worries. All transportation, luggage handling and lodging is arranged for you. Most meals and several excursions are included. It is great and we have booked another one for next year. The land tour group size is only about 50 people and books up early. Our group was split among two tour guides, motor coaches and train cars so we only had 24 people that we traveled with. If you are too late to book one for this year, it will be worth it to wait until next year. That will give more time for an injured shoulder to heal. Also take the land tour before the cruise. That way you will save the most relaxing part of the vacation until last.

Thanks for that last piece of advice, we have been trying to figure which one first, land or cruise 🚢

  8. Loved one had cancer.... so we would book an Alaskan cruise a week away from departure. Yes it cost more, but it meant less stress when we could travel when she was strong.

I do recommend early August to avoid the wet and storm season. I like dry port weather.

Guess that I need to do a bit more research, I didn’t even realize that there was a rainy season!😉 Thanks for that

    Great advice, thank you!

  10. Oh, I love calling this Serendipitous Travel!

I also love the idea of traveling during shoulder season with a recovering shoulder.

    Seems meant to be :-)

I love that moniker! My biggest problem with myself though is my heart loves the idea of spur of the moment but my brain says, “I don’t think so!”

  11. These are great replies, thank you all so much! Mind if I ask a couple of more questions?

I don’t think that his shoulder will be quite ready until August or September, so I am going to check out the itineraries and the ships in those time frames, but if you all could share some opinions on which may or may not be better, I would love your help. Also, has anyone ever done the Princess cruise with the added overnights at one or two of their lodges?

    Thanks again.
