  1. Why would you want to hijack a 4 month old thread where no one will even see your question on page 2 rather than start a new thread?
Looks like the good CC helpers proved you wrong!!!!!!!!!! Lots of nice responses, unlike yours!!!!!!!!! Help people, don't criticize, or just SCURRY AWAY!

    Love that!

  2. I have a spot reserved with 717 later this month. I have an opportunity to board early so I emailed them and they said to call 10 minutes before we get to the lot and a driver will meet us there. We were looking to be picked up at 9:45.

Can not say how it will work out, just saying this is what they told me.

I would think that if they are bringing passengers from the ship (disembark 9am?) to the lot, they should be able to take you to the ship on the return to the ship to pick up more passengers?

  3. so what is with all the negative Norwegian reviews... okay be honest?? how does Norwegian compare to royal Caribbean? how is the food on Norwegian compare??

hmmm thinking of doing the mediterrean on Norwegian.. will I regret it.. prices are muchhhhh lower for Europe on ncl vs princess or Norwegian??

We did the Norwegian Jade-Mediterranean-10/2011 and loved it! We are boarding the Dawn in 17 days.

There are more complainers and whiners in the world than people that will pay someone a compliment! If all else is equal (Ports, Dates, length of cruise) I go with the best price. I have never starved on a cruise ship, and I have never fallen off one, and I can sleep on just about anything after an all day excursion and a couple beers.

A friend was trying to talk me into doing a cruise with a group of theirs, and kept harping on "it's a 5 1/2 star ship". I am sorry, it was also 50% more than the NCL cruise I am taking with the same itinerary! I can buy a lot of beer and DOD's and do some nice excursions for the 2 of us for the $800 that we saved by going on NCL.

  4. Hello all!!

I am on a flight arriving into FLL on Saturday, 2/22 at 11:50 I'm hoping someone can put my mind at ease. Putting aside any major delays with my flight, have I left enough time to get to the POM or am I cutting it too close?

So worried and now regretting I didn't book an earlier flight.

Not knowing what time your Ship boards or departs, kind of hard to determine.

Checked the weather for Saturday in Atlanta and do not see any issues there, and not seeing to much severe weather anywhere Saturday morning that would affect the flight?

I would reserve a private car service to be at the terminal waiting for you, and if you can just do carry on luggage, that will save you 20 minutes right there.

Good luck and let us know how things went!

  5. We are doing the Bar Hop in a few weeks, and am looking for real life reviews/opinions of each stop, ie: drinks, food, view, etc?

    Punta Morena:

    Coconuts:

Playa Bonita: I heard the Margarita is huge and to share, also saw a pic of a whole fish platter that looked pretty interesting.

    Rastas:

    Thanks!

  6. Hello all - I am booked on the NCL Dawn and boarding at Cozumel with Virgin Cruises on 21 February. However, I have just been told by Virgin that when we arrive at Tampa we have to clear our cabin and pack our bags and go through Immigration at Tampa, then board the ship again. Absolutely ridiculous!! Virgin are stating that this practice only started on 1 January - I would like to hear from anyone if they experienced this or saw the Brits with their suitcases before 1 January.

    Many thanks

    Sandy

Hi Sandy, I would check with NCL directly on this. I know there have been a lot of issues with Brits (nothing personal) boarding in Coz, which created some kind of delays in Tampa for peeps disembarking in Tampa at the end of their cruise.
  7. We are going out on the Magic end of Feb and shark alley is one of the excursions we are looking at doing and I am one of those people who loves the water type of tours but haven't invested in prescription goggles as of yet (and can only see about 6" away without glasses) I was wondering if this would still be something I could enjoy. About how deep is it where the actual encounter is? I appreciate any advice :)
I purchased a pair of prescription goggles years ago and love them.
  8. I will probably get flame-basted, but my thoughts are this, and this is all from past experiences:

If I ask for coffee with my desert in the MDR, and repeat my request and do not get a cup of coffee until I am standing up to leave the MDR, and this happens every night, I think the servers should not be paid their share (whatever that is) of the DSC.

If I am eating at the buffet (breakfast and/or lunch) and all the tables are cluttered with dirty dishes or not wiped off, servers should not be paid their share (whatever that is) of the DSC.

If I go to lay by the pool, and all the chairs are being occupied by towels, and I say something to the pool boys (or whatever you call them) and they do not clear a couple chairs for us, they should not be paid their share (whatever that is) of the DSC.

If I come back to my room and there is no ice (even though I asked the room attendant to please keep ice in the room, or if the room was not properly cleaned (same crumbs on the floor from breakfast), he should not be paid his share (whatever that is) of the DSC.

Drinks already have tip added, but when the pool boy brings me a drink, I add additional tip, if he calls me by name and asks if I would like another Coors Light or whatever I was drinking previously, he gets a nicer tip.

Piano player plays a song I requested, of course he gets a tip.

I will say I have never asked to have the DSC charge reduced, but I can surely understand why people would.

  9. Thank you everyone! We called the airline this morning and asked to switch to the day before. They were going to charge us $200 each to switch the tickets but we asked for the fee to be waived. She talked to her supervisor and they waived the fee! I feel so much better and am so excited to cruise :D
Outstanding! Like I always say, it doesn't cost anything to ask! I was just thinking before you posted this update, that if you were already stressed 7 months out, can you imagine how stressed you would be a week or even a day out?
  10. On this Florida Departures Forum, search for Tampa, and the scroll down and look at titles that have "parking" listed.

I can not speak for how good this place is, I have a spot reserved end of February: 717 parking

  11. Same is happening on Getaway -- there have been several threads on the topic. Here's one I started... lots of differing opinions :eek:didn't mean to start a riot

You'll see some advice in the thread. One thing I learned (we also are 4 and experienced major price drop/plus many added incentives we didn't get) is don't book early.

    http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1976736

I will have to disagree with your "don't book early" philosophy. Booked my cruise 8 months ago for $1618, current cost would be $2408 (I am past final payment). Secret is book early, watch prices weekly and negotiate prior to final payment and either cancel or go on the cruise with the price you were able to negotiate. I do agree that it does not cost anything to try and negotiate some perks after the final payment and there is a price drop, maybe a couple specialty restaurant vouchers?

  12. Has anyone been able to access the Tampa Port cam today? Was going to check on disembarking/embarking flow but getting an error message!
Issue was on my end. Did a software update and the new version created another level of security that I didn't catch at first.
  13. Thanks, we saw the same menu. DH is allergic to seafood, does not like jalapeños. I thought it looked fine.

Vegetarian daughter is not too thrilled either. At least it is a short day so if they do not like choices they can eat on ship.

I like the idea of fish or shrimp tacos but I don't like things fried too hard. Would I be safe with that? No ceviche for me, I learned the hard way not to eat undercooked seafood.

Tough crowd to please! Email Steve, I am sure there are some places that do vegan, maybe Steve can hook your husband and daughter up with a vegan pizza and you can have some fish tacos?

  14. Those menu options are from previous menus, lobster and red snapper has been replaced with Surf & Turf on menu #1 - sweet potato rice cake seems to be there still.

On embarkation day the dinner menu on pre-Breakaway ships is either of the two menus having a lobster dish: #1 or #8 - usually menu #1. You can find most of the menus currently in use from this link:

Also, there is an unconfirmed rumour that fleetwide menus would change starting this week, so menus shown on the link above might be obsolete soon.

    Are these menus fleet wide?
