  1. I have a friend on this cruise, and she's been texting about it. She called security as the woman's screaming woke her up. She saw the men fighting on the balcony and shouted at them to stop.... a nightmare for all involved. Praying for everyone affected by this.

MEN FIGHTING??? Woman screaming? Is this a case of infidelity?

    Bad situation that got worse.

  2. I've been planning to give that a try on our next couple of cruises. We have the complimentary AIBP on both of them and I have coffee cards lying around. I think one only has a punch or two left, one has most of the punches left, and the third is unpunched and unmarked in any way. Why not pay for someone else's specialty coffee as a surprise? By the time our third cruise rolls around I can always buy one of the new cards if I want one. They aren't all that expensive and mine are obviously the old style so wouldn't be good for the fresh brewed coffee. It seems like it could be fun to pay for drinks for folks who don't have a card of their own.

I have coffee cards left over. On sea days if i see a Blue card in line i buy them coffee. Usually one or 2 people. Once 5 people. They appreciate it and it cost me nothing. :)

  3. I called them and asked and was told you cannot reserve in advance. I was very disappointed because I've heard they book up fast. The second I get on board the first thing I'm going to do is find the restaurants and make my reservations and hope that's fast enough.

Actually you can, as you've most likely read by now. Without laying out hundreds of dollars the set up doesn't allow booking of groups. No one outside of a family gathering wants to prepay for a big group.

Contrary to popular belief, Princess will assist you in booking large groups WITHOUT advance payment. Not on the Princess 800 number level, but at the Corporate level. Princess is wonderful in working with large CC groups. We've booked 52 in the Crown Grill on a past RETREATERS Group Cruise and we have a smaller group booked next week on a cruise. Our Group which meets on the Regal has booked 115 for the Main Dinning Room, 40 for Alfreado's and as I've stated 52 in the CG in Advance.

Odd thing, if you book more then 16 at a time, theres an attempt to have everyone served from a fixed menu... so beware if you are that large.

Princess has a video on YouTube of the CC RETREATERS Group from the Regal Princess. We are 215 plus and growing.

Regal Princess Halloween Cruise 2016...take a look if you can. Enjoy your Crown Grill dinners everyone...

  4. As I was saying, now I'll be prepared for rejection. [emoji854][/preparedH

Hey buddy. It depends who you talk to. Weve exchanged half the mini bar for one coffee card on the repo a cpl times. As a single..why would you need 30 cups of coffee? The room service supervisor agreed.

The option of a specialty dinner woud be great

They say you can't reserve the Crown Grill BEFORE YOU BOARD. you know thats not true. We booked 52 and i just book 24 for next months Ruby cruise.

It depends on who you talk to. Get a reasonable Supervisor. And you can get it done.

    Or become a RETREATER---Right :)

  5. We did Walk off on the CB on the 17th. We were at the gate by 8:10 am. I book flights around 9:15 am if im doing walk off. Princess will always say 11am or later. Ive flown to Newark and at my house by noon.

Barring some delay. If you do walk off. You can be at the airport by 8am easy......a flight eaving after 9am is not only doable.....its a no brainer. IMHO

  6. It's hard to believe but you've got my hopes up. :D

We got off the CB on the 17th. We found the buffet to be bland with little variety. The MDR was its usual self. The theater had too many comedy shows. The Grown Grill was very good.

it seems to be hit and miss. The ship needs some sprucing up. The dry dock will help. The pillow top beds are needed. The TV's could use the Regal/Royal upgrade.

its still my favorite ship even with its current warts.

  7. I have a very strong opinion. I LOVE the sideways inside cabin on the Regal. Last cruise I was upgraded to a balcony and usually I turn that down, but decided to take it. I was sorely disappointed. The sideways has a better layout and definately is larger. Also, no problem with privacy. I highly recommend this cabin. However, as others have said, avoid the cabins that sleep 4 (they seem to be on the ends of blocks of cabins) as the extra bunks hang from the ceiling and are very claustrophobic, IMHO.

My buddy has strong view :) I see it differently. I leave the cabin early each mornng. My wife sleeps late. I dislike that once I open the door, shes seen by all who pass lying in bed. That bothers me. Yes the room is a little larger. Would I pass up a free balcony upgrade for one? Never ..... My children at home don't have open access to our bedroom, why would it be ok on a cruise.

To each his own.....id rather not have one....IMHO.

  8. Not to be argumentative, but the last couple of guarantees I booked, I ended up in the exact same category I booked. We'll see what happens for the January cruise.

I'm honestly thinking it's just the luck of the draw.

I could give you my consultants name and contact info. Nothing to lose, having a conversation with her.....maybe alot to gain.

Maybe im just lucky. What ever the reason, I'm thankful for my Princess Rewards. Combine the Casino Rates with Casino Cash give backs , along with the combination of 3 for Free with the $1 deposits. Not to mention JetBlues recent sale of NY to Los Angeles round trip airfare of $128. Mexican Riveria cruises were basically FREE from the East Coast.

The Consultant who calls with the discounts bottom line....is worth her weight in gold. All that is needed is matching reduced airfare with her suggestions. It helps to be retired and free to plan.

HAPPY NEW YEAR and Smooth Seas to ALL.

  9. WhenI got a move-over offer, my TA let me know immediately.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned yet: I wold never book with a TA who charged a non-refundable booking fee or a cancellation fee.

    I agree about the fee......

im a believer that nothing is ever totally random. Im always upgraded within my category because I book guarantee cabins. With the 3 or Free....you bolt to the top in that cabin category. I think a Princess Consultant can do so many extra things for you. The upgrade fairy isnt real.....but the people at Princess are. They say you cant make Restaurant reservations before boarding....well, for large groups, its possible.

Princess made a video of our October Halloween cruise of the Cruise Critic group....Its worth a look on YouTube.

    Merry Christmas

  10. Good morning, Roland. There are many types of cruisers: they range from people who book with a TA and never look back to those like you and I who know that no one can advocate for us better than ourselves. I now believe that each cruise should be booked cruise by cruise, depending on the cruise line, cost, and closeness to sail date. If the cruise costs a lot of money, it can be advisable to book with a TA, after researching the best deal of course. If the cruise is inexpensive, booking direct is probably the best idea. I will not use a Princess TA again. It is easier for me to call any customer service person to make a change. Every person has their own idea on the best method of booking. What's important is leaving for a cruise happy that you are going and satisfied in the route you took to get there. Happy holidays!

    Amen :)

    Happy Holidays

  11. Me, too. I usually save 10% or more, get OBC, and she'll go to bat for me and rebook at a lower price or get me a promotion if I'm eligible. I never, ever book directly. Always with a TA.

I have the opposite experience. I Always get free Upgrades...2 months ago on a Regal sailing I received 4 upgrades....inside guarantee to a Deluxe Balcony with a sofa. This is a $$ savngs for me, along with OBC. IMHO Money is Money.

TA or Princess. The bottom line is book when you see your price. OR your Value (perks). TA or Princess, whomever gives you your Happy Price is the one to choose.

I Always book directly with my Princess Consultant.....Either way, as long as you are Happy with the price you pay.

    Happy Holidays Everyone

  12. The choice comes down to what you enjoy on a cruise ship. I enjoy using the Steam room. On the CB its Free in the locker room...Royal class ships you have to pay to use the Enclave. Im a Diabetic. . other than the MDR..no place to get Sugar Free ice cream with out paying. And nowhere can you get a simple Milk shake on the Royal/Regal ships. Watching a MUTS movie is nice on the CB. Not the same on the Royal.

Light things to be sure....But they matter. We each enjoy different aspects about cruising. You have to decide what is important to You.

Im sailing on the CB Sunday for the 14th time--Regal 3 times...Royal once...id pick the CB any day...it offers what i enjoy.

    Happy Cruising

  13. Perfect example you've brought up. The drink package in retail terms is $56 a day. BUT if you donk drink booze or coffee....just soda and water the value is just $225. As an alternative they give.....Ill agree the value goes up when you do 28 day cruises.

Another place i find value each cruise is in my 'Luck' in getting FREE upgrades. Money is Money regardless of where you find its value. Im a lucky one who gets an upgrade on each cruise i take. My just completed 10 day on the Regal i received' 4" Free upgrades. Inside Guarantee to a Deluxe Balcony.That. translated into a savings of almost $2000 over my paid price....

The bottom line is many of us cruise as a 'LifeStyle', not just as a vacation. And the #1 rule remains the same.

'Book when you see or receive a price you are happy with'......Now if we could only trade in the Mini Bar for 2 Specialty. Dinners--2 coffee cards cost more:)

  14. The casino rate has been a way to reel in the overall cost. My Sunday cruise on the CB. when you factor in my OBC ...35% casino rate reduction...cheap flight to Fla. Along with a generous. Casino cash perk. Princess is actually paying me $9 to fly and cruise.

If i can just cash in and not gamble or buy anything. ..ill be a big winner. Sometimes promotions work ...other times not. But its fun getting the best deal you can :)
