  1. This sounds a lot like our experience....but I only comment on the negative items which make it sound like I dislike Princess in total which is not the case.

Some people on this board can't accept that Princess isn't the greatest in all departments. I too disliked the Royal class ships at one time but have come to accept & like them even more as I see the advantages of the new design.

It's probably a good thing that everyone sees it differently. ;)

As you'll probably agree. Theres so many different aspects to cruising, you need to find what you like when cruising. I enjoy using the steam rooms. I dislke having to pay a high price in the Enclave on Royal class ships when Free steam rooms are available on Grand class ships.

I enjoy the separate area for MUTS on Grand class....I enjoy the Retreat pool area on Royal class. HC on RC ships..Ice Cream (milk shakes) on GC ships. Different things on different ships. I love to eat, if the food is a miss, the cruise is a miss. My next cruise is on a RC ship..thank god for OBC to use in the Enclave :)

  2. I never said that the food on the Emerald was terrible. I just would like to point out that it just isn't a great as most are led to believe.

Most of the Princes cheerleaders praise the Emerald as having the best food available & is just is not so. My standards are probably are much lower than most but to say that the Emerald's food was "outstanding" is your opinion.

I like to point out to perspective cruisers that it's far from outstanding or over the top as you put it.

My posts tend to point out the few negatives found on the ships & not the many things they do correctly. There are enough of those posts already.

So as I stated previously you can ignore my posts altogether so they don't upset you & let those who who want to read them do so.

Never thought id be doing this :) here goes.

We sailed the Emerald Princess March 5-10. To be honest. I also didn't see the big deal about 'Anything' on this ship.

    This is just IMHO.

The food in the Horizon Court was mostly terrible. Very bland with not much variety or imagination. Always left hungry during lunch and and the Mexican night dinner was terrible.

MDR was 'Normal' by Princess standards ive experienced on other Princess ships..Grown Grill was the usual great dinner its always been.

Some annoying things for me......not a big deal for most--but very important for me. Im a diabetic. Sugar free isnt just a choice--its Lfe Saving.. Like many I have a preference of flavors I enjoy. During the entire cruise the MDR and the Ice Cream parlor ONLY offered chocolate (I hate) ice cream or dessert. Ask another Diabetic if you don't believe me :) When asked about a different flavor or a different dessert option. Same answer at both venues,,,,,, its what they gave us  To be farir, Horizon Court Aways offered a sugar free dessert as usual--and a daily change. Not a big deal for most....But Very important for my health and cruise enjoyment.

Many things just did not work during or cruise.....Steam room did not work the first 3 days...was told to pay for the Thermal Suite--they were working there.....Right

Hot Tubs did not work well at the Spa pool the entire cruise....No idea about the Main pools with so many Sring

    Breakers.

The Comedian was great, thought most of the other shows were lacking. Im probably in the minority here. Also, couldn't understand why the Ice Cream counter was next to the HOT Pizza ovens, while the Hamburgers were on the other end of the pool

I dislike the Royal Class ships alot. I prefer the Grand Class . The crew was overwhelmed by the number of spring

breakers, so they weren't at the top of there game.

    AGAIN THS S IMHO ONLY...

The Emerald, is my FIRST Princess cruise that I was glad when it was over.....Would I sail her again? If given a choice--probably not......For the things I look for...Food, Spa stuff, my Sugar Free options, things working etc. My overall view was low.

BUT hey this was my experience on this ship for this ONE sailing. Have a GREAT cruise on whichever ship you sail. Cruise Princess.

  3. I received it and then deleted it. I read something about using a credit card to buy points or something, no thank you! Bring back the casino credit for cruise bookings and I would be happy.

The Casino Credit is here. It is in effect until December 17, 2016 for selected sailings.

Before you could see the discount if you did a Mock booking...You now have to CALL Princess and ASK if you have the Casino Rate promotion. ..

    Call Princess :)

  4. If its an option, why not just take a cruise that ends in Rome? With Ez Air, delaying your return flight isn't a problem. Our TA is ending in Barcelona. ...we are then spending time in Rome, Paris and London before returning home. The airfare with advanced booking between each city was amazingly low. Worth a look if this option is available to you.

  5. Hi everyone!

Have been to many princess cruises, but have never found bbq sause, does anyone know if it´s available onboard? And if the answer is yes, where could i find it ?

Why not bring the bbq sauce you prefer with you? That would solve your problem.

  6. We booked the 2 sea day afternoons at $20 per.i ended up with two loungers right next to the cabana. There is no opening directly in front. I guess to prevent high winds from dsturbing those getting massages. This area was cool, without being breezy. We really enjoyed this location. Being able to book the afternoon sea days worked well for us......if allowed to book sea days only, I will choose this location again.

    Happy sailing.

  7. A drunk kid stood on the railing on the 16th deck, where the band usually plays....AND JUMPED into the pool...NOT a word from Princess security standing there. Back flips from the Hot tub. A cruiser has it on video and plans to post it.

Young lady was found Passed out, face down in the hallway....Her friends left her there. 3 guys had to be rolled in wheel chairs back to the ship from Grand Turk.

I caught some kids on my floor--Riviera Deck--popping the balloons and riping the signs off the doors.

I saw No violence at all. Just lots of drinking. By boys and the girls.

We had a good time.....Will I sail again in March with Spring Breakers? NO :) Too many other choices.

  8. I booked 4 Twice and Nice cruises today for $8 online. All but 1 or 2 will most likely get canceled or rebooked with FCC's. Today's deal did allow me for the cost of a happy meal to tie up cabins of my choosing for dates and locations on my maybe list. I get to pay in full more than 400 days from now or rebook under the next wiz-bang deal of the day should something better come along. $1 per person per cabin is cheap insurance should the date/itinerary/cabin I would not normally consider turn out to be one that my DW, friends, or family want to attend.

Worst case, I cancel everything and move on. No harm no foul on my end. Others? Possibly unable to book my choice cabin. For that I apologize.

I agree with your view.......Here's how it works for me..

I met a cpl who got me into this from hearing their story.

Im Retired.. Thank God........ like many....I receive a great pension and free medical benefits etc.....I own 2 Homes...Kids doing well and my health is good. Im just starting to receive my Social Security benefits. ....

The couple I met uses their SS income to cruise/travel each month......I love to cruise....so this sounded like a great way to see the world.....The $1 deposits with the OBC allows me to book sets of B2B2B cruises next year.Of course you still have to pay for the cruises....but this makes your planning very easy. I had quite a few cruises already planned....I just added a few more for next year.....Works for me.

    Happy sailing everyone.

  9. I called princess today to get info and I learned that the $1 deposit is real! it can be applied to the current "twice is nice" promotion, and it is only a one day sale!! I appreciate most of your responses!! thank you so very much. while not new to cruising, I am new to princess. I'm looking at the 4/2/17 sailing on the crown princess. any thoughts on the ship? are cruise days earned on princess able to be applied to carnival and vice- versa? thank you for the positive feedback

Sorry to say...the earned days are Not shared. ANY Princess ship you sail will be a nice ship.....

    AWARNING

Once you sail with Princess. ...It will be HARD to stop or go back to another cruise line:D

Consider this your LAST and ONLY warning.

    :)

    P.S.

Take a look at the Halloween cruise from NY on the Regal October 27th. ....There's a YouTube video done by Princess on that cruise.

  10. okay, thanks for the info...don't think this sailing is part of that promo...but will still give it a try...

You're welcome. This promotion allows me to extend my membership in the 'Once A Month Club'from September to April :) Retirement is wonderful :)

  11. Getting this back "on topic" does anyone know if Alaska cruise/tours leaving late May 2017 will be included in the $1.00 deposit?

And will you be able to book this on Princess website or will you have to call to get this promo?

According to my Princess consultant. .. The $1 deposits are tied to the Twice as Nice Promotion. ...if it is a cruise listed as a Twice as Nice cruise. It can be deposited with $1 tomorrow.

Not sure about the website. ...I put my order in Friday. The phones are expected to be busy.

  12. To represent our country and fight and possibly die for the United States of America. What age is ok to do this?

Fighting that one armed bandit seemed like a life and death struggle. Princess finally understands its a young persons game. :)

  13. You're absolutely right it's none of my business, UNTIL you're posting your debt on a public forum then you opened the door to comment.

My point was that retailers are marketing with gimmicks and lures to hook people into spending money they don't have and a poster proved that point.

I see that most people don't understand marketing and the subliminal messages within.

I wish you only the best and happy cruising.....BUT you remind me of this cable TV commercial thats running.:) :)

  14. Hmmmm no, that's your assumption. For all you know they have cruises booked for 2017 and 2018. You have no idea of anyone's situation nor should you be commenting on it.

Exactly what I was attempting to say....Excellent :)

Coral....always nice to see your post.....Aussie Cal Bruton is a life long friend if you follow your country's sports.--if youre not from Australia. ..im sorry.

  15. Educate me please, what money did you save? Pay it now or later, the fare isn't changing. I book when I see a fare and/or promo I find attractive. The deposit amount has never changed the total fare. Princess (and many many other companies) have found ways to lure people into making something seem like it's a deal when in reality it's the same gross amount. With a full deposit you would still get the twice as nice obc. Last week when I did a booking and it was $100 pp depo for the 12 day Panama canal. Had it been a higher deposit I would have paid it because the cruise fare or the terms wouldn't have changed.

Not sure I can educate you. You have a fixed view and that's your choice.....

lets look at changing prices.....cruise price TODAY is say $600.....deposit is $100...obc is $150 for inside cabin.....pretty simple. Yet someone is doing other things and will book when they can......this price is good for just 2 more days.....the obc for this cruise and 2 future cruises will be gone. The price probably goes up ...not down.....

Along comes $1 deposit sale Monday. ...great....no brainer....hold my 3 cruises and alls good. God bless you and your cash flow.....Everyone has different priorities and to assume someones financial condition is alittle out there. But you are entitled to your views.

I wish you good sailing.......I guess the saved money isnt in the cruise fare. Its the obc money that probably won't be there. Along with a higher rate. ..I look at $150 obc paying for my tips as a savings........

  16. Maybe people have health issues or other reasons why this would be a good option. I want to take my husband to Alaska but he was just diagnosed with lung cancer. I will book a cruise for $1 and hope he's well enough to go by final payment and not lose anything. Don't be so quick to judge. He will have a reason to fight and something to look forward to.

Rosie tell DH our prayers are with him.....im glad youve got this info....let us Retreaters know which sailing if other than the usual one. Don't be surprised if some Retreaters sail with you for added support :).

Also deposits of $1 locks in the Twice as Nice OBC. A $150 obc would cover your onboard tips. Have yet to meet a person who doesnt enjoy saving money when they can :)

  17. Has anyone had experience with sending cleaning out after the 1st formal night & getting it back by 2nd on 7 day cruise?

My experience has been from 48 hours to a crazy high of 5 days on my 3 Regal/Royal cruises during the past 15 months.....24-36 hours on the 4 Grand Class ships during the same period

Ask your Steward, he'll have the best information for your cruise.....you should be ok :)

  18. We have been in the Thermal Suite on the Coral and the Sapphire and the Enclave on the Regal and the tile beds have always been nice and warm. Check out this Princess press release:

    http://www.princess.com/news/backgrounders_and_fact_sheets/factsheet/Passengers-Can-Enjoy-the-Ultimate-in-Pampering-Aboard-Royal-Princess.html#.Vs9nJa876K2

There is definitely a reference to "heated stone beds" in the Enclave. If they weren't heated then they should have been fixed. My DW used the heated beds on the Regal but I found relaxing in the seating in the hydro-therapy pool much more enjoyable.

The Thermal Suites have heated beds....Everyone will agree to that. Most will say the Princess information you refer to is wrong. But it may have worked in 2014.....I was lucky in love and unlucky in cards....This seems that I was not lucky the 3 times I sailed these ships...Because they must have been broken on my cruises. In a few months when on the ship again im going to ask for a touch test before paying full price. Smooth seas and happy sailings.

  19. I don't know what the issue was with the "UN Heated" tile beds on your cruise but they were definitely heated on our cruise on the Regal in September of 2014.

Well...the room may be hot...but the beds aren't. .I sailed the Regal November 2015......What ever they are...did I get the number right and the rest of the description? There's another thread on here that spoke about the Enclave and whether the beds were heated or NOT. Check it out.
