That's true of the regular main dining room, but for MTD the staff will lose the tips for that table for the time period they hold it waiting for the passengers to show up who have reserved it. That's why they log in your cabin number to the table in MTD: so the staff will get the tips for the evening meal.
THIS couldn't be farther from the truth. When you sign up for MTD the staff automatically gets the tips. They would be thrilled because they would get the tips and not have as many.

I've had them call the cabin but normally nothing

Question.
If I get the select package for beer only, can I use my diamond drink vouchers for additional (3) alcohol drinks each night?

Yes you can use your vouchers for additional drinks each evening

If they are not in your cabin when you get in there call the bar manager. They will make sure you get one.

We found some type of mango flavored water last time on board. I wouldn't get a package for the kids unless you allow them a LOT of soda normally.

I'll be very curious to see how many ships are giving the drink package discount. I have pre-purchased the premium package for the Allure. Guess we just need to wait and see.
-
Thanks everyone. As I suspected, there isn't much to do in Freeport. I still appreciate every input!
-
Thanks Bob!!

Does anyone have a link to the current Menu for the Allure of the Seas, Western? I'm trying to decide when to do all the yummy specialty restaurants.

I've seen all kinds of Nassau suggestions but not much on Freeport. What can you suggest if I don't want to do a ship sponsored excursion?

Will be on Allure at the end of May ... anyone have an idea who the CD will be?

But i am going on NCL for the first time and am very anxious, BUT we have the drink package thrown in....being D+ this still scares me. Really i am nervous. I am on a cruise and it will all be o.k.!! Right?
your first "non-RCL" ... yeah, we were nervous. I want to hear about NCL. That's next up on my list

I've noticed more and more. We are often the only ones sitting at the pool bar without it. Between bringing on wine, going to the DL in the evenings and the time off ship, we don't find it worth it.

We always recommend friends to book Bernard's tours for their first trip to St. Maarten. His tours take you all around the island. You get a great overview of what there is. These days we just cab over to Maho beach and watch the planes.

We like Cockleshell. It's farther from the cruise port and isn't nearly as crowded.
-
You'll have options when you get off the tender. We always prefer to have something lined up to reduce the stress.

We do Mr. Sanchos since they have stuff for everyone. They put the AI in a separate section. I found their food prices reasonable. I recommend them any chance I can get!!
-
Yet another vote for Mr. Sanchos. The food and the service are amazing.

I don't think I'd hop on something there. Ocho Rios tends to be a little overwhelming. We've been super happy with Javia at know jamaica dot com ... no spaces. They have all sorts of different options and I have found the prices reasonable.

LOL! You just want to brag about your CL suite, don't you? :D:D Small deep sea fishing boats have a tendency to encourage motion sickness. Especially off the coast of Oregon and Washington.
I'm sure you will probably be fine. :D;):)
My thoughts exactly!

We have used Javia at Know Jamaica dot com several times. We've been super happy with his service and he's very flexible. Sometimes we want to do more organized stuff, sometimes we just want to go have a beer and some Jerk. Either way, he picks us up at port every time we're in Jamaica.
-
I do know that the staff goes over and above to make babies happy. We've taken "grands" several times and paid each time. So yes, to answer your question, it's the norm.

Quantum isn't out yet so nobody knows yet.

Jamaica is absolutely gorgeous but also dangerous. I'd definitely stick to a good tour guide that will get you to the best places. I've used Marva Shaw and her son Javia several times and will use them again in October. They have always been well priced and they work with me. Duns River Falls is great and we've done that. Last time we went over to the Jerk Shack and had lunch and listened to the band. I love that Javia is flexible when we're out. It's kind of like calling a friend when we're in the islands! If you're interested, it's know jamaica dot com ... enjoy the beautiful country!
If you no-show a 'free' dining reservation, what happens?

In theory, this is correct. However, the 15 minutes could be for us or anyone else. There are only so many people on the ship. If they have MTD, they have the tips allocated. The servers actually love MTD because the tips are guaranteed.
