  1. We loved the Anthem. We did the holiday cruise last December. I took my parents, a couple and my 3 year old. We had a great time. We just went on the Oasis on July 2nd and we love them both for different reasons. I actual lean more towards Anthem, my 3 year old loved both but hey she plays with cardboard when she has state of the art toys. You can't go wrong. We visited the grand loft and owners loft on Anthem. I don't think you should worry too much. The lofts are beautiful and the perks of star class are worth it We've been on every class of Royal's ships and I've found joy in each of them.

  2. That's brilliant!! You brought a small inflatable tub to fill and play with?? And they let you?? He will have been in swim lessons for 15 months by then, probably diving into the pool better than myself by that point haha But if we can't potty train him in time, that is certainly something I would consider doing!! I've seen them for under $15 on amazon! we have a bigger one that we used as a ballpit, but by the time that gets inflated, he will have lost interest. I don't know if he will take kindly to not being able to go in the big pool (which is what he is used to doing for lessons), but if he gets to play and get wet, I'm sure he will be all over it. That's such an amazing tip!

I wanted a balcony too, but decided for a full window room instead. My kid LOVES the water, and I decided this was definitely the safer way to go haha I don't need him trying to reach for the water.

Thank you for the heads up on the music. As of now, he LOVES to watch people performing (I am a professional stage actor myself, and did three different shows while pregnant with him, so I guess it's in his blood too haha). So thats good to know that we will be able to find live music throughout. Those weren't really in the Compasses I saw. We are always going to see shows and concerts with him now.

Did you happen to do the zoo/museum excursion? Was it good?

We are from Annapolis, not too far from Baltimore. So, we haven't done the excursion through RCCL but have been too the Zoo and to the Aquarium. Both are pretty nice and a way to get some land time before the cruise. The aquarium can be quite crowded on the weekends; but fun, nevertheless. There was no problem with us setting up the inflatable pool/tub. It has been done many times before, from many people. I actually got the idea from someone on cruise critic. It fit perfectly in the bathroom in our cabin too. She wouldn't take showers. So, the tub served two purposes. There will be a lot of live music. Music By the pool, daily and throughout the ship everything from jazz to reggae. There were a few kids movies. She loves shows too! I'm a musician so, I'm gonna say. Your son is gonna find his adventure too. She enjoyed the shows and sat without incident. Oh the acrobatic show in the centrum was nice for her too!

  3. I took my 18 month old on the Grandeur and we had a ball. Took her to the Royal Tots once for free play at no charge. She had so much fun playing on the gym mats and tot slide and playing with the toys there. We borrowed a toy bag. That was ok. But we had bought home toys, too. We also brought a small inflatable bathtub that we took to the pool deck, filled with water and let her splash around in. That doubled as a tub. She enjoyed dancing every night before dinner in the live music area. That was her favorite part. We watched the waves out the widows in the common areas. She enjoyed that, too. We made friends with some other children her age that met after dinner to dance. She seemed to enjoy it very well. We have been on a cruise twice a year, ever since. She will soon be four. Even at an older age I don't leave her more than an hour or so at Adventure Ocean, unless they are having a special party or talent show. I did pay for an hour at Royal tots when we went to Chops. She had fun, I guess because she didn't want to leave. My parents were a bit antsy about her being in a balcony room , so to make them happy, we stayed in a ocean view room. With that said, she was mesmerized by the window and spent too much time in the window ledge. All the things I worried about for her was a non-issue. She had a ball and she had an wonderful experience which i could have never predicted. It was the perfect sized ship for a little one. Enjoy your trip.

  4. How did your parents bring the cases of water onboard? Did they put them in a tote bag or just carry it like you get the case of water in the grocery store?

My parents just gave the water to the porters with a tag. No problem for them. However, they put the sodas in their carry on. We've use Cape Liberty plenty for the RCCL Explorer, Anthem and for Celebrity Silhouette and Summit, and so far there hasn't been a problem with water. It could change at anytime though.

  5. Cruising from Cape Liberty on August 11. Done this route before on Explorer but not yet on Anthem. A few questions...

    1. Is it critical to get a WiFi package or do you think we can survive the week not connected? I keep reading about some app that people use. I imagine we would need Voom for that?

    2. We were unable to pre reserve North Star and iFly. The message on cruise planner for weeks has been to book once on the ship. Any ideas if that means they are booked/full or if there might be spots once we get there?

    3. I have read that ocean adventure can fill up. Has this happened to anyone? We are counting on being able to send the kids here and there and would hate for that to not be an option.

    4. Water-can you really bring a case of bottled water on board? We never did that but sounds like a good idea.

    Thanks!

    Hello,

We were on Anthem for the Christmas cruise 2015. I watched several people be turned away on North Star that did not have a reservation or arrived later then their time. However, it also never appeared to be a long wait, like expected. So, things may have changed since then, but there was a waiting list or so that you could sign up for North Star and Ifly. Ifly seemed much easier to get as a standby.

The adventure ocean never overfilled for the 3-5 age group and there were thousands of kids on board. Just get the kids signed up as soon as you get on board. We loved the Adventure Ocean staff on Anthem.

My parents each bought a case of water on and a six pack of sodas. I gave up on bringing water because I had to bring juice for my 3 year old. We had no problem with any of those items. I opted for the Evian package. It was a bit of a waste, since I could have brought water on.

Oh, Royal IQ worked without having to buy a internet package. It was ok but not anything you can't live without. It was nice to kinda track our bag with it and have a ship map, oh and look at your dining and entertainment reservations.

  6. We were on Oasis last week (7/9-7/16) and used one of our specialty nights on Sabor. We had reservations around 7:30-8:00pm and there was only one other table occupied.

I wouldn't waste a specialty dinner on Sabor. It wasn't good and the service was bad. They also didn't have any ripe avocados available! Go to Giovanni's or Chops (basically, anywhere but Sabor).

We were on the same cruise. We were offered guacamole made from avocado paste, because they were out of fresh avocados. No thank you! The space seemed to be used by the ship officers quite a bit, though. Only seemed crowded before and after aqua theater shows.

  7. Was on Oasis of Seas July 9th, 2016. Three of us went; including my 3 year old daughter. There were about 30 people on the tour. Half of the people got sick, not hyperbole. We didn't get seasick. My daughter enjoyed all the bumps and swells and waves. It was like a roller coaster on the ferry over. Going back was much better. We walked the town, ate, shopped early as the stores do close for extended siesta. We walked to Shell beach, also. The tour operators were nice and comforted the sick people with some type of smelling cloth and cold rags. We were provided water coming and going. They played a video of the island both ways. There are a few pictures of nude women advertising the nudes beaches on the island. My daughter thought the nude ladies were mermaids so that was fine. Of course i wish we had more time on the island. We have already started planning a land vacation there for the holidays.

  10. I have never purchased the photo package before, however this is the first cruise either of my children will have been on. Since they will be going on their first cruise I wanted to take advantage of as many photo opportunities as possible, so I was looking into the photo package. On the photo website it says that the package is $249 for every picture taken. Is this the lowest price it will be? I don't want to purchase it ahead of time and then find out they will have a special on one of the first nights of the cruise. On our last cruise I think I remember there being $50 off on one of the first nights. We didn't look into at the time because we weren't interested. So is this something they still do or is $249 the lowest it will be?

For our upcoming Anthem sailing, the digital, every picture package is $349. I guess the pricedepends on which ship you are sailing on. On our last sailing, this summer, on the Grandeur there was no other package offered better than the pre payment package. However, that doesn't mean it hasn't or can't happen. I do know there was no unlimited package offered once we were on the ship.
