  1. I have paid the extra cost to get an aft on the cruises with fantastic scenery. I had an aft for our Alaska cruise, and I booked one for next May, cruising through Norway.

I don't have to for any other cruise because my sister and her friends get connecting aft cabins, have the divider taken down, and we have cocktail hour sailaways over at their real estate!

If you enjoy quiet afternoons reclining on your balcony, this is absolutely worth it however.

  2. I checked the port schedules.

We are the only ship scheduled to go into both Portland and Halifax, so that is good. They are "opening" up the cruise ship terminals in both ports, very kind of the employees who will agree to work. It looks like no tendering in Portland, Anthem has a "dedicated" berth there, wonderful, it's a fairly new dock. (I checked because I believe we tendered about 15 years ago, but I could be dreaming.)

Busy switching out some clothes and unpacking the beach bag. :loudcry:

  3. I was fine, with no meds

Correction, I remember I did take Bonine.

I see the problems as, Anthem getting in on time, then us being able to get OUT of port on Saturday afternoon, THEN getting back in on Thursday the 28th (but I wouldn't mind an extra day on a cruise :D!).

It's going to change over the next 48 hours, we shall see.

But Bermuda would be great if we can still get there!

  4. I'm also on this sailing with my parents. We are watching closely.

My mom said she's not packing yet. She said she'll wait to see how the storm(s) track so she can throw in some warm weather clothes if necessary. (I thought that was pretty smart!)

I was on that sailing through Hermione on the Anthem last September. We still went to Bermuda but it was pretty rough for 24 hours. My sister got sick, even with a patch. I was fine, with no meds.

And yes, I am also thrilled I got the drink package ;p, and yes, I hope the Anthem can get back in for our sailing on Saturday.

    Good luck to us !!!

  5. We're on this voyage too........

    ....

    We're Doomed.

There, I feel better now that I've vented.

    You are funny.

The ship is going to bolt east tomorrow. Will get the heck out of dodge.

It will be fine! Maybe some rocking and rolling on Monday but Tuesday will be glorious in Bermuda.

    Enjoy and Bon Voyage.

  6. I'm betting the ship is going to hightail it out of NYC and head straight east, like previous poster alluded to. Breakaway will not go north, because the storm will be chasing it pretty much the whole way.

She will make a safe loop around to south and back west and still go to Bermuda.

(I'm only suggesting because this is what the Anthem did last Labor Day when Hermione was knocking on Jersey's coast. We still had bad seas the first sea day, but after that it was beautiful.)

I'm sure they will still have a ball.

  7. HBCcruiser.

Your review was fantastic. Your photos are amazing. I am heading out on BA in Feb, so ports are obviously different. However, knowing about the nighttime shows, and all the dining options, are wonderful.

Congrats to DD1 on her graduation from Princeton. What an accomplishment.

Thank you so very much for taking the time to help all of us.

  8. Oh I can already tell this is going to be a GREAT review! Sailing this voyage in Sept. 3rd time on Anthem, anxious to hear all the new dirt.

(Ifly was a little hard for me. I'm glad I did it, but I'm a 50 something, not athletic, and you need upper body strength. However, the spotters/trainers were fantastic and won't let you fail.)

XJokerX have a wonderful time with your family and friends. Smooth sailing and Bon Voyage!

  9. I know how exciting this is to many people. But those in law enforcement will not go toCuba as long as the harbor cop killers. Joanne Chesimard is a convicted cop killer of NJSP Trooper Werner Forester.

True that. Thank you for honoring Trooper Foerster. Sorry to say, only those around NJ, Middlesex, Hunterdon Counties in 1973-84 will remember that. She escaped from Clinton Correctional Institution for Women, went to Cuba and was granted political asylum. Google Chesimard. She had documented militant affiliations.

This post may be deleted and that's ok, I don't want to break the forum's rules. :)

Cuba does look magnificent. The cars are cool too, the people seem wonderful. I would love to absorb the culture of the days from the 50's but I think I'll wait.

Absolutely no disrespect intended to those who do not know about this, and wish to visit.
