  1. I was on the Yacht Club during Thanksgiving. My butler Bruce was also outstanding. He came to my room every night to help me get dressed. He tied my ties for me, helped me with the studs when I wore a tux, made sure my tie matched the shirt, etc. I wore a tie every night because I like getting dressed up. Then he would always take me to dinner. He packed and unpacked my suitcases. Whatever I asked him to do he did. I don't like eating in my cabin, so I never had room service.

You can eat all three meals in the specialty dining room for YC. The food was excellent, and much more quiet than the main dining rooms. I also ate two dinners in the specialty restaurants, but you have to pay extra for those.

Once you are in the YC, you will never want to go back to regular service again.

  2. When I was on Divina, I booked a private car for the time I was in Miami. The cost for four hours was $420. That included a tip for the driver. The driver was also a tour guide. He asked me where I wanted to go. I told him I just wanted to see the sights--so take me where he thought I should see of Miami. It was worth the money and very relaxing.

On the ship in your stateroom, there is a brochure that tells the cost of private excursions. I didn't book any, so I can't tell you the cost. But if you call MSC Yacht Club reservations, they can help you with that. Or you can just wait until you get on the ship. You will have time once you get on board to decide.

If you want to book regular excursions, the concierge will do that for you as well.

The Yacht Club--I loved it--it was worth every penny I paid to go on a single basis (double the per person cost).

  3. Hi. I was on Divina during Thanksgiving. I had an executive/family suite.

When you look out your picture windows, you can easily see the front of the ship. You will see the ocean at all times. I had have some men washing the windows during one day at port. But that was all. None of the officers were up there.

You will love the fantastic walk in closet as well. My cabin was 12002 by the way. I also loved the whirlpool tub.

  4. I was on Divina over Thanksgiving. I never saw a female butler the whole week. All of the butlers were men.

My butler was assisted by a male. However, at the concierge desk, all of the people were women.

All of them were excellent, and very helpful. The Yacht Club is fantastic, and all who cruise there have every reason to be happy.

  5. Yes, that does help. Thanks.

Another question - were you supplied wash cloths? Have read that they are not as in Europe. We had to take our own on a recent tour of Greece.

I was in the Yacht Club. So I had wash cloths every day. But I am not sure about the other cabins. I would assume the same were supplied to them.

  6. Hi Phil!

We definitely will share a butler. Each room doesn't have their own. But I wonder since there are only three cabins in our category, if we won't all have the same one just for ourselves. I don't know what the ratio is of butlers to staterooms.

I hope the rooms are soundproof. I would hate to keep you awake at night with my snoring!

  7. Chuck?

I am hoping our girls won't be noisy, we are in 12004 right next to you. We are having a meet and greet, 4PM, Sunday, at the Jazz Lounge, informal. We are the Petrazio's from Fort Worth, TX. Me (Phil), Tina my wife, Avery (4) and Ashley (2). If you need anything just knock. I saw we have BOSE surround sound in the rooms, so I will have to work out when I can test them out with you.

See you Saturday - I wonder if we share our butler or each room comes with one.

  8. Oh Dear I seem to have opened a can of worms ......... I have cruised a few times RCI twice NCL once Thomson once , my most enjoyable onboard experiences were with RCI my least so far was with Thomson :( and as a Brit Thomson are meant to be amazing according to reviews ???????????

So I suppose I will just have to wait and see what MSC is like , on a positive I have booked as a solo passenger a BALCONY cabin for 0% suppliment and no other cruise line has come close to offering that ............... well done MSC

What did you book that you didn't have to pay the single supplement? I wonder if that is available in US.

  9. My cruise on Divina is over US Thanksgiving. I will let you know when I come back about the tub. It won't surprise me if has the whirlpool as well.

Did you find the butlers to be stand offish? Or were they friendly? I have read both here on Cruise Critic. How about the passengers in Yacht Club? Since I am traveling solo, I hope the passengers won't all be couples or have kids running around!

  10. Thanks for your answer. I have cabin 12002 so that will work out perfectly. But you brought up another subject that I wondered about. You mentioned private transportation that MSC booked for you. Did you do that on the ship? When I called MSC, I was told it was basically the same as the ships shore excursions except you don't have to go on a bus. Is that true? Did you decide what you wanted to do and then just tell the driver? I am not interested in a private photographer, since I will be on the cruise by myself.

Thanks again for your thoughtful answers.

  11. I really like them - the only problems is the lack of a balcony (but realistically if I use a balcony 10% of the time it is a lot) and the fact that they are not in teh YC complex itself (but this does enable you to entertain easily and without issue).

This is of 12002 - the smallest of the YC2 cabins:

Don't forget to order your pillows from the pillow menu ;)

What about plug ins for electricity. Is there someplace I can plug in my lap top and a desk area. How about in the bedroom? I use a machine to help me sleep. Is there a plug in by the bedroom?

    Thanks.

  12. It sounds like your butler was very busy helping you. You spoke about the Neptune ceremony. What is that?

Did you tip the butler each time he helped you? I know MSC puts tips on a persons account as a total.

This will be my first time on MSC so now sure how everything works.

    Thanks for your answer.

  13. Hi. I have a Yacht Club cruise on Divina over Thanksgiving. I have booked an executive/family suite. What I wonder is I would like to bring along a tux. But I have trouble getting the cuff links, bow tie, etc. to work. Is it unreasonable to ask the butler to assist me in getting my tux together? That is, am I out of line to ask him to help me with the cuff links, put on my tie. etc.

    Thanks.
