  1. A real experience! YEAY. If NCL was smart they would make it CO and advertise it a little. Judging by the number of people on Haulover Beach last week there is a big population of people looking for a place to "shuck the shorts".

Thanks for telling about your experience. Did you use the spa at all and how was the nudist experience there?

  2. I share your frustation as well , I always go clothes optional at every opportunity and I find it very frustrating when I do a cruise to keep my swimming trunks on on the top deck . Don't they see the big revenue it might bring in for the cruise ships ???? Just to have lets say the top deck for freestyle or whatever you might call it . Personally i dont want to go on a total nude cruise but a deck reserved for this purpose would be so nice.

A few hotels in the south of Europe start having now a rooftop clothing optional area , this is great because for the hotel it is an extra selling point why cant the cruise ships do this ????????:):)

For those of us who agree, do you have a link or two for these European hotels you might like to share?;)

  3. OK... so here's my experience, it's still the best sun deck on the ship. The people who are usually up there are as open and accepting as can be and as long as you have the essentials covered you're all set. The last time we were on a NCL ship we were up there the whole time. We made friends with the girls from the show who were up there daily, had an absolute blast and had mouths on them that almost made me blush. I have a barely there thong and that was A-OK. The sun's not good for the nether-regions anyhow . Don't let it spoil your cruise. Go up there anyway and go with the flow, just get a suit that covers the essentials and not much more... you'll be fine. There is a usual parade of gawkers who act like they're lost and conviently look at the girls at the same time but that's a pretty amusing parade. If you're going to Barcelona prior there are some CO options at beaches nearby but October may be cooler than you'd expect. Are you cruising solo??

  4. Hey All...

Just got back from a 10 day Eastern Caribbean cruise on Emerald Princess and thought I would give you some feedback from the Gay prespective.

First off... This was a "Straight Cruise" until all us gays showed up. (And there were pleanty of us) I would say 40 at least. Some younger with their parents and families, some older and married for 40 years. We found each other all over the boat and even without the LGBT meetings. We are a pretty normal gay couple and it's not tough to figure out I'd say. We were NEVER uncomfortable on this ship. There were many GLBT get togethers sponsored by the ship and that made it even better for chat with our fellow gay cruisers but we picked and chose which to go to as our schedules permitted.

Things you might like to know if you are considering a cruise that is not a gay charter... especially on Princess:

The cruise ship gets it. They know we're gay, they're cool with it, they have no problem with it and they are happy you're there. They treat you just like anyone else and even seem happy that there is some personality and color in their day.

The other passengers, for the most part, don't care. One night at sunset we climed to the very top sun deck to watch the sun go down. WE were being a bit affectionate (Head on shoulder, arms around each othere kind of stuff). I did look back and see one couple kind of watching us... but not in a bad way. I think they were just a little suprised that WE were so comfortable... but we were.

We enjoied the dining staff (Shocker... quite a few are gay too.. Waiters from Thiland by day, Superstar drag queens by night in the crew quarters we were told). They were a hoot and couldn't be any cooler along with the staff around us. We actually LOVED the team right next to them, Philipino assistant waitress and Portugese Waiter. Christie and Moises. We sat with them every time we had dinner in the dining room. They were awesome and so much fun. They told us we were their favorite guests on that cruise, it showed. They took excellent care of us and both were totally straight but worked right next to the drag queens and they all got along amazingly well.

We went to Chef's table with 5 other couples, Chef and others were totally fine with us, we even all met for dinner again on the last night of the cruise.

Many of the entertainers, again... big suprise... were GAY! I'm not saying I found that out the hard way in the steam room or anything ;-) We were invited to sit in the front row for the shows... I'm just saying.

Bottom line. We had a great time reconnecting as a couple after a really busy summer on tough schedules. We had Balcony dinner and upscale restaurant dinners, bought into the sanctuary... people there were so nice (Fellow cruisers and Crew). I wouldn't hesitate to tell any gay person to feel free to save some money and go on a straight cruise unless you really want the exclusive environment of an all gay cruise. We live on Cape Cod, are in our early and mid 40's, and we have been to P-Town enough to know why we don't go up there in the summer very often. There is such a thing as, "too much of a good thing". We couldn't get enough of this cruise.

  5. Take the Straight Cruise, 1/2 the price and the pent up closet case husbands in the steam room are always so much more appreciative. LOL ;)

Seriously, Every cruise we go on is a gay cruise when we show up. That's the way I look at life all together. My partner was all nerved up about us going on a straight NCL cruse several years ago. It was his Birthday. When we arrived at the ship the woman checking us in just happened to be a Lesbian. She literally walked us onto the ship. When we arrived at our mini suite it was totally decked out in rainbow Happy Bithday stuff. He was at ease from then on. We hung out on the Freestyle sundeck the whole cruise, no kids there. We made friends up there with the whole dance troupe who we deemed the "Itty Bitty Titty Committee" and their conversatons were bawdier than any I have ever heard in P-town, I swear. I actually think I blushed a couple times... and that's saying a lot!

We also bought into the Thermal Suite for the whole 10 days. Once again, no kids, all guys, straight and gay, not really anything going on but completely comfortable naked area. We actually played Scrabble in there a couple late afternoons as the sun set. I'm sure there could have been more going on if we wanted... The headliner from the show as in there and was looking to perform his special act by the looks of things. By the time we got off that ship the BF was ready to hop on another one any time. We made some great aquaintances (All straight) and had a great time.

Since then we have stuck to princess because we like sailing out of San Juan and again have found the ships MORE than accepting and fun. We've met Raul and Juan from San Juan who Cruise on Princess more than they stay on dry land. They literally take off on B2B trips for 6 and 8 weeks at a time getting on in San Juan to go home, check the mail, water the plants and hop back on the boat. We literally met them in the steam room.

All in all I think we have a tendancy to find one another wherever we may be. Have fun no matter where you go or no matter waht you do!! :D
