  1. Wondering if they let you buy more than one bottle per night even if you don't drink it there...Inquiring minds want to know. Ha! Also curious if anyone has recently been on the Anthem and seen the 3 - 5 - 7 bottle of wine package offered. Yes, I like my wine, but I don't get the drink package.

  2. So I scheduled myself for the 2:30 show of WWRY on March 6th which is day 10 of my 12 night Anthem cruise. If I try to book the $79 version, one of the choices is my date and time. Does this mean that they're going to cancel my free booking? If so, I'm P.O'd. It's one thing to be capitalistic and do stupid stuff like this but it's quite another to roll this out when people already have bookings. Wouldn't a smart person just roll it out on a sailing where people don't already have bookings? It just goes to show that nobody really give a crap what the guest thinks. Bad form, Royal. Really bad form.

  3. Actually Hasnt it been Friars along with Grand Case beach that has had issues with water pollution.

I have heard about possible issues at Kim Sha but neverever heard about this being an issue at Simpson Bay beach. If there was a straight line from Kim Sha to Karakter wouldn't it take about 30 minutes to walk it?

Oh bummer! I hadn't heard about the issues at Friar's Bay but I definitely saw a video showing the issue at Kim Sha. I have no idea how far it is to Kim Sha but isn't it in the same Bay as Karakter? I looks close on the map. Ha!

I have to say that all these rumors and videos about water pollution have me a bit concerned about a beach day.

  4. So this is a little off topic, but since you seem to be discussing which beach to head to I thought I'd ask here. I'm considering going to Friar's Bay on our February/March cruise. I was considering going to the Karakter area, but I read about some water contamination issues at Kim Sha which made me wonder about that area as well since it's fairly close to Kim Sha. My question is about how difficult it might be to get a taxi back from Friar's Bay. I know I could make arrangements with a driver, but I always like to have a back up plan just in case. Are there generally taxis there?

    Thanks!

  5. Friar's Bay looks pretty nice. We're headed to St. Martin/Maarten on Anthem of the Seas on February 25th. I was considering going to Karakter Beach on Simpson Bay but there have been recent reports of waste water going into that Bay from Kim Sha Beach so I'm a bit hesitant. Friar's Bay is a bit further. I'm wondering if you saw any taxis at Friar's Bay at all. Just wondering what the chances are that I could get stuck there without transportation back to the ship.

  6. Remember, if you have the Deluxe beverage package, you get 40% off bottles that are under $100, and 20% off bottles that are over $100. Nice thing is that this includes every bottle, not just selected bottles like the wine packages.

I could probably drink a beverage package's worth of wine, but the hubby just doesn't drink enough to make it worth it especially on a 12 nighter. I'm very intrigued by what I'm hearing about the drink cards for $85 plus gratuity. I'm wondering what the limits are on the drinks you can get with that. Wonder if I can get $14 glasses of wine for that price. It's something I'm going to have to check out or search these boards for.

I'm really going to miss the wine packages if they're unavailable. That said, I think I've been able to purchase them on each ship I've been on ever since they supposedly discontinued them (with the exception of maybe one) so I'm hopeful. It's really a shame that they made the decision to do away with them.

  7. Thanks, Cindy - I used to want a 'bedtime' snack but gave it up almost 2 years ago when I went LCHF/Keto but during the first few weeks I did macadamia nuts at night - very satisfying Low in carbs and high in fat -

Are you on FB? I have a support page that is a closed group so you will need to request to join - all are welcome IF you are truly interested in getting healthy through ANY healthy wOE (way of eating)

We are listed as LCHF Friends Support Team - :)

I will definitely join your support page! I can use all the help that I can get, and no worries I'm not crazy about anything. Whatever works for you I say. Speaking of which, I'm glad macadamia nuts worked for you, but ewwwww!! I love almost every kind of nut except them. Ha! Pecans have been a go to for me lately. I'll definitely have to find something because the bedtime time is going to be a hard one for me to give up. When I start working on that I'm just gonna try to move it earlier. I doubt I'll ever be able to do the two meal a day thing like is suggested by some. Although I definitely don't snack in between like I used to. Really the bedtime one is the last man standing.

    Thanks for the invite!!

  8. Thought I'd introduce myself...I'm 53 and have been overweight to some extent nearly my whole life. I quit smoking when I was 40 and gained even more weight so now I'm at a place I'd rather not be with my weight. Many years back I joined the Atkins WOL and lost about 80 pounds and kept it off for 3 or 4 years but then went back to normal eating. Well maybe that's not true. Ha! I started eating sugar again and ate like a pig and gained it back. I had tried several times over the years to do Atkins again, but it just didn't seem to work for me like it did that first time and I'd get frustrated and quit. I'd been thinking about trying it again wanting to lose weight for two cruises this year and for my daughter's wedding when I noticed a couple of people from work talking about the ketogenic WOE on a social media platform. I researched it and talked to them about it and decided to give it a go. I started December 5th and had lost 18.5 lbs as of last Friday. (I'm away this week and unable to weigh which is killing me. Yes, I admit it. I'm a chronic weigher. Ha!) I'm really loving eating this way. Feel better and have seen more change in my body than you would normally see with that amount of weight loss. BTW, I've got a lot to lose probably around 120 lbs total. So that's my weight story.

My cruise story is that we're going on our 20th cruise for our 20th anniversary year on February 25th on RCCL Anthem of the Seas. Love that ship. Love that we're going back to Barbados where we got married off of a Carnival ship 20 years ago. And love that I will have hopefully lost about 30 lbs. by the time we go. My hope is that I'll pretty much stay on the plan for the cruise. My big issue will probably be my night time snack. I know that's frowned on and against IF (which I'm not really doing yet, but hoping to work up to one day) but it's a big deal for me. I love a right before bedtime snack. Currently it's either a fat bomb or SF Jello (I know I know it's lazy keto, but that little bit of artificial sugar seems to be okay for me). Not sure what I'll do on the ship. They probably have SF Jello if I manage to get it and put it in the fridge for later. I should probably plan something and take onboard. Any ideas of something not too far off the plan for a snack I could carry on? Other planned cheat may be some wine and just alcohol in general which I know in quantities tends to stall me. I'm okay with that as long as I don't really fall off the wagon and go wild with bad foods.

Thanks Esahuma for your inspirational posts of how you live the life every day and most especially on board the ship. They've been invaluable in helping me to map out my plan for my upcoming 12 night cruise!

  9. Today marks 1/2 point of our B3B 34 day cruise - still maintaining LCHF and Keto - drinking vodka on ice with sprite zero and a little wine! Also doing IF - intermittent fasting from last meal of the day until at least noon the next day -

So do they have Sprite Zero at the bars or only in the Freestyle Coke machines? Also do you know if they have Cherry Sprite Zero?

  10. Yeah, but what does upgraded bar mean? Are we tallking only beer and rum punch on one and a total full bar on the other or just better rum on the more expensive one? And the boat...is one smaller? Or a question I'd really like answered - is there more seating on the more expensive boat vs. having to sit on the big net out front all day because with my back issues I probably couldn't do that all day or is it just nicer seating? I know I'm nit picking here but I'm just trying to figure out if it's worth $30 more pp to do the more expensive one. We don't drink much, but I might like to have a rum and coke rather than rum punch and I might like to sit in a chair vs. on a net sometimes. Don't know if that's worth $30 but just trying to figure that out.

  11. I'm going to book either Silver Moon or Calabaza catamaran tour for my husband and I on our stop in Barbados in February. Both companies get great reviews. Silver Moon has a $150 cruise and a $120 cruise. Does anyone know the difference between the two? I asked but didn't get much of an answer...upgraded bar and different boat. OK, but how is it different. Does anyone know?

    Thanks.

  12. If you are prone to MOTION SICKNESS the absolute best thing for you is to bring ginger tablets with you (you can find them in the vitamin section in your local grocery store or Walmart). I suffer BADLY from motion sickness... I can't ride in a car for more than 10-15 minutes without feeling horribly sick to my stomach due to motion sickness.

When I cruise, I start taking ginger with each meal a couple of days before my cruise and then continue to take it each day during the cruise and I feel absolutely NO motion sickness the entire time. It works much better than Dramamine or the other motion sickness meds - even the non-drowsy versions still make you a bit wonky.

I also get very seasick so many cruises back I started wearing the patch which works fine for me. It's not for everyone though. I've never really been able to figure out exactly how much ginger you'd need to take. How much do you take?

  13. It would be nice if we were all given the option of that level of specificity for the timing of service but we aren't. Choosing port days versus sea days service times is not currently offered.

I'm sure that this "level of specificity" isn't offered (nor is it expected by me by the way), but I'm sure that if I check both and tell the steward I don't need two services on sea days, I doubt I'll be reported to the "how many services a day" fairy. With the reported 34 cabins to service is true, I doubt the cabin steward would be too upset by my request.

  14. We haven't cruised Carnival since they began asking this but will have this choice when we cruise on Sunshine in May. I think I'll ask for 2 on port days and PM on sea days. We often get up early on sea days and then like to go relax in the room for a bit or go and change or something after breakfast. It seems like we always show up when the cabin steward is either in our cabin or just about to get to it. On sea days I feel like I can just pull the blankets up on my own bed in the a.m.
