We have sailed most of the Princess fleet and are now considering a cruise on the Royal. Are there any inside cabins or areas we should stay away from? This will be our first experience with the Royal class ships.

Is there a miniature golf course on the Star? Not just a putting green, but actual mini course?

After several searches, it appears that the contents of the elite toiletries bag can vary from ship to ship. Can anyone who has sailed on the Star recently tell me if there is a tube of conditioner in the bag? Our last cruise (September on Coral) was our first as Elite and we didn't get conditioner. Thanks

We've been using the Command hooks on cruises for years. They work great.

Thank you for posting this comparison review. We are long-time Princess cruisers and have tossed around the idea of taking our almost 8-year-old granddaughter on a cruise. Debating between Disney and Princess. Your review has convinced us to probably stay with Princess.

Has anyone been on the Star or Grand lately and seen the volcano erupting? I know we can go to Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island, but am also wondering if it's visible from the ship? We'll be on the Star sailing March 13.

I am concerned about the "privacy" issues with this technology - I really don't like anyone knowing where I am at any particular time.
When you're on the ship, they know where you are because of security cameras and facial recognition software. Unless you hide in your stateroom or a restroom all day.

On our last several cruises, we didn't get a receipt in any of the bars, but did in the boutiques.

On some cruises the in-cabin invitation to the lounge has said that the reduced price is limited to the listed drink for that evening.
On some other cruises the in-cabin invitation to the lounge has said any of the listed drinks may be ordered at the special price every evening.
On our last 2 cruises the special drink prices were available every night, not just the evening they were featured.

Probably a dumb question, but what is a BVE credit?

Has anyone heard Phoenix Rising lately? Wondering what ship they are on and if anyone knows where they'll be for the next few months. They play great dance music.

We were originally told that Caribbean Princess would be the first cruise ship to use the new locks, sailing October 21, 2017. Now friends are saying Disney will be first, sometime in April, 2017. Also heard rumors that Carnival Splendor will transit in 2017. Anyone have any actual facts about these sailings?

I have a question about upgrades on Princess. In the past we have marked our booking “no upgrade” but have not done so on our upcoming cruise in Oct. 2017. If Princess upgrades us, do they immediately give away our old cabin, or do we get a certain amount of time to think about it? We usually say no upgrade because cabin location is important to us, hate to risk an upgrade putting us over the theater or another noisy venue. Does “no upgrade” also prevent us from receiving an upsell offer, something we are willing to consider.

Our 10-day transit of the Panama Canal in Oct. 2017 has a 3-hour stop (5-8 pm) in Colon. Wondering if we can even get off the ship?

We just sailed the CB in September. Obstructed view - bed was against the wall. I think our cabin was E225. It looked like most of the cabins on the deck were setup the same way.
Thank you! I was hoping for an answer from someone who had actually sailed in one of these cabins on the CB.

Just wondering about obstructed view cabins on deck 8 (Emerald) on Caribbean Princess. Is the bed under the window or against a wall?

Hey Keith - hope you're well! I am still CD in the traditional structure.
We have only rolled out this new program on 4 ships so far with 4 more to follow by year's end.
I believe I will be one of the last to make the switch to the new program, which should be fully rolled out by the end of 2017.
Looking forward to sailing with you in November!
All the best,
Rich
Hello, Rich, Just got the email that you'll be our CD on the Coral Panama Canal cruise starting Sept. 17 in Vancouver. This will be our third canal transit on the Coral, our favorite ship. Wondering if you can give us a sneak peak at who the bands are and who is playing in Crooners. Thanks, see you in two weeks!
-
We're sailing on the Coral Sept. 17-Oct. 9. Wondering if anyone has been on the Coral recently and knows who the entertainers are? Especially wondering about the bands and who the nightly pianist is in Crooners.

We've had 507 on the Ruby and 515 on the Diamond and loved them both. More space, better layout. No noise from above. Grab it if you can!

Any one on board for this?
Bryan :D
Bryan and Roger, probably not many people on this Roll Call because there are already two roll calls for the two legs of this cruise.

I read on Facebook (not the most reliable source!) that Princess is doing away with baristas preparing specialty coffee drinks and replacing them with automated dispensers for espressos, cappuccinos, etc. Please tell me this isn't true.
-
Richard Joseph, IMHO, is the best Princess CD of them all. He's terrific. A true CD, not a promoted entertainer.
He is joining the Island Princess (not sure of the date) and is disembarking the Island 11/16/16.
I'm curious, Pam, how you know this?
-
The current Cruise Director list says Richard Joseph will be our CD on our Panama Canal cruise in September. We aren't familiar with him. Anyone care to share comments about him? Thanks

We had a "sideways" inside cabin on the Ruby and the Diamond and loved both of them. More space and a better layout. I always check for them when choosing a cabin. Too bad not all ships have them.
Mid-ship stairs on Royal
in Princess Cruises
Posted
The Princess fleet drydock schedule shows the Royal as having had mid-ship stairs opened to the public above deck 7. The current deck plan doesn't show these stairs. We haven't been on any of the Royal class ships yet, and are considering a cruise on the Royal. But we don't want to be mid-ship without close stair access. Anyone know the real story? Thanks.
