  1. If you know about the $250 fee and the extra $5 charge and don't like it, don't go. Otherwise don't complain about it. Very simple choice. Why whine about crap you can't change? Complaining just to complain doesn't help, it's just going to make you more miserable. Yes, the website sucks, but it doesn't effect a week on vacation, nor should any of these petty issues.
  2. I'm sure you will have a great time with that attitude. MSC in my opinion is more the same than they are different to any other cruise line. I have been on over 25 cruises on 6 lines and have always looked forward to it. I have yet to be disappointed because I knew I would make the best of it. I am not going to write a bad review about the elevators being slow or rude passengers. I am especially not going to write a review about food since it is 100% subjective. You are spot on about some of the ridiculous bad reviews. Have a great cruise in February as I will in January. I will be sure to give you my honest opinion if you want it.
  3. Careful. All these cruise lines are in cahoots, and once your name is out these as the soda smuggler you will probably be banned for life.
  4. You're probably right. It is actually comical how bad it is. I don't know of anyone who has not had some sort of issue, regardless of how small.
  5. Any one else having this issue? All of the excursions are gone from Grand Cayman on Jan 16 on the Seascape. All other ports have plenty to choose from, so there is no way EVERY excursion is sold out. They were there a few weeks ago and I have been checking every day for about a week or so and still nothing. Of course when I called they said they were sold out. Anyone else able to book on that day? I am not too concerned since we will probably book on our own, but the prices were pretty comparable and we know we would get off the ship on time.
  6. No need to buy soda and wine if you are going on MSC. Can't bring it. Cheapest hotel by the port is probably the Holiday Inn by Bayside which will be about $300.
  7. NCL has the best bands by far. MSC has the worst by far. IMO
  8. I'm under 90 days out with Fantastica experience and I cannot book Specialty dining, so I don't think it a timing issue.. Is it really that hard to create a website that works. I mean this is so ridiculous, half the time I can't even log in without getting an error. I have never seen anything like it, extremally frustrating. I have to believe they have lost customers just from their inferior website.
  9. Yes you can make it. We took a train on our own and spent a quick 6 hours there with no problem. Don't take an MSC excursion, they are an absolute waste of money and over crowded. Don't worry about missing the ship, you have plenty of time. Just do a little research on how to get to the train station and which station to get off. This was extremely easy. I would rather pay to get to the next port if I missed the ship than to pay for a crappy excursion and see nothing.
  10. Two years ago there were buses right by the port that ran back and forth to Bruges. Can't remember how much, but I believe it was around $5 ea. It was perfect.
  11. So many people say how different MSC is to the other lines. I have been on over 25 cruises (3 MSC) and have found them to be more similar than different to any of the other lines I have been on. Especially in the Caribbean where you still go to the same crappy islands as everyone else. The only reason we go on a cruise in the winter is for some good weather and to meet other people and relax. When we want a real vacation we take a land trip in May or September to Europe or Hawaii. I can honestly say I have not liked or disliked any cruise more than the next. It is almost like Groundhogs day when we board. Don't be afraid of MSC.
  12. Ya, that makes sense, Don't tip the people that actually decide to work. Worst excuse ever.
  13. I have yet to go on any excursion offered by any cruise line that was good and not a complete rip off (Caribbean or Europe). If there are any let me know. I find it to be much better to do some research of the port and go on your own or book through a different company.
  14. Has anyone been successful (from past experience only) getting two rooms upgraded with joint bookings? We are both looking to upgrade from a balcony to YC with the exact same bid. We don't want to be split up, so is this worth the risk? Do they take into consideration we have a joint booking?
  15. Absolutely false. the water on the ship is fine, but no where near the standards of bottles distilled, PDW or spring water. I am in the industry and am offended and will challenge that statement. You need to get your facts correct before making false statements.
  16. I believe the heaviest I found was 30 kg. About 66lbs.
  17. So even if you get 2 meals per day, it's $35. How is that more than the other lines? This is so minimal it's ridiculous. Show me one other line that is apples to apples that will cost you less, or even close. If you can find it, you should have booked it because the one you currently booked just went up $35. Unless, you order 3 or 4 plates per night.
  18. So why didn't you book a different cruise line? Was it the only cruise availabe? Your statement makes absolutely no sense.
  19. Again, Only $5. Order 2 meal per night and it's $35 for the week. It blows my mind how many people whine over these petty things. I know, I know it's the principal, right?
  20. Something tells me I won't be running into any of the negative commentors in the gym.
  21. You mean the portions were standard upscale restaurant size, not Golden Coral size. No one will go hungry on a cruise. This is an absolute genius move. Why should I (or anyone else) be paying for someone else's extra plate in the cost of my cruise?
  22. This should have been done years ago. No one needs 2 dinners. The excuse that you just wanted to try a little is b.s. If that is truly the case it's only going to be $5.
