When we cruised last year to Alaska I brought my puffer jacket. I only wore it once and that was when we were at Hubbard glacier. This year I am leaving it at home and I will just add extra layers for the glacier viewing.

We are doing it in a couple weeks with Michelle at Island Wings. We used her last year to fly over the Misty Fjords and that was amazing. I have no doubt that this will be equally amazing.

This will be our second cruise to Alaska in a couple weeks and we have booked with Glacier Wind for second whale watching trip. This was one of the highlights of our trips last year and I am sure it will be again.

I’ll be on the Radiance in Icy Point on September 11. I’ll be with my father-in-law and his SO who are both in their 80’s, and found a private tour that will work well for them. My concern is the walk from the ship to where the private shuttles pick up as if I recall from my last time there is a bit of a walk. My father-in-law will be okay but his SO has difficulties walking, although she doesn’t use a wheelchair or walker.
Can anyone confirm how long a walk this is and if there’s any type of shuttle they may be able to take. Thanks! There are drivers in golf carts to assist the disabled up to shuttle area. When we went last year there was no fee for this service

Looking for reviews and how far in advance you booked your car. We were just cancelled by Glacier Blue Bus as they can not get any more permits. I do not want to take city bus due to the extra walking distance and Dlx Rides can get us into the visitors center. We will be there 8/14 and worried they will book up too. I did try calling but they do not have a voicemail available and no one answers.
I was able to make a reservation through their website

I would recommend going to Deckhand Dave's for lunch while in Juneau. Excellent fish tacos. Short walk from most docks.
We will probably do that before we go to the glacier. Last year we did Tracy’s. We won’t be going there again. It is too expensive for what you get. Looking to try something different and I have heard great things about Deckhand Dave’s. 😊

I just reserved them for August 6th. I hope it works out. Mendenhall glacier is the only thing I want to do in Juneau

Attire in the dining room is everything and anything. Last year on Radiance we dressed up the first night and then realized how over dressed we were. The following nights excepts for the formal nights we just wore what we worn that day to dinner.

I would be curious to see someone’s Cpap setup on Radiance. Even better is if it is a dual set up. I am hoping not to be tripping over cords.

My wife has a Resmed and I have a Phillips Dream Machine. We each use one of those cords. If you’re still undecided, just take a look at yours where the cord (bottom half) plugs into your power supply and compare to the pic.
My hubby and I have both been recently diagnosed with sleep apnea so we both have Cpap machines. Will it been an issue getting the extension cord for both of us. We are sailing on Radiance in August and I know they only have one outlet on the desk.

We are due to take a 7 night cruise on Explorer on Sunday 4th June. We’ve just been informed our flights been cancelled (Italian airport workers strike on Sunday). Luckily for us our flights where arranged by RC so they are trying to sort it out for us (and I expect a lot of other people).
Anyone else in the same boat? (Forgive the pun).
We had a similar situation last year except we were 15 minutes away from the airport when our flight was cancelled. We had booked our flights through RC and they had us on a better flight (non stop) that was leaving only 30 minutes later. They were wonderful in handling everything. Good luck!

I am so happy to hear that you had a great trip with Glacier Wind. We are very anxious to try out the new boat and look forward to seeing our friends at Glacier Wind in July. Your pictures are great; I especially love the bubble net feeding. We are keeping our fingers crossed in hopes that we might experience some bubble net feeding on our trip.
We were on the new boat last year with Capt. Casey. It is really nice. We enjoyed it so much that we are on it again this August. I am also hoping to see some bubble feeding. Capt Casey always seems to know the best places to go.

I was able to switch to Glacier Winds. They had a cancellation. Super happy!
You will not be disappointed. The best whale watching experience by far.

Very pleased with Glacier Wind! Would definitely go in a heart beat with them again.
I prefer small boats and like dealing with local companies directly.
Teresa is amazing to work with at Glacier Wind.
Teresa and her family run an amazing business. I highly recommend Glacer Wind for Whale Watching.

He boarded in LA earlier this month. He's on until Sept 8th
This is awesome news. We really enjoyed him last year.

3/4 mile from main dock, they may have free shuttles to get you to the main dock in town.
I highly recommend the shuttle bus. It is a long walk. We attempted it last year and thankfully a RCCL saw us walking and took pity on us and picked us up and drove us the rest of the way. I wont make that mistake again this year.

Marek came back from vacation on May 6. Given a normal rotation I'm not sure he will be on in August.
Captain Rumen has been given Radiance as a permanent assignment alternating with Marek. I enjoyed Captain Rumen. He is very social and engaged. He has spent time with Captain Johnny over the years and gleaned some of those social skills from Captain Johnny.
One of the things we enjoyed with Capt Marek is how social he was when we were on Radiance last year. I am glad to hear that Capt Rumen is also social. But does he sing and rock out like Capt. Marek? LOL

curious as to who the captain is. I am hoping it is Capt Marek and he will still be there when we go in August. He is the best.

What is everyone's favorite drink once they get on board? The first drink for me signifies the start of my vacation so it better be a good one. LOL

I know it isn't a popular sentiment among her fans but I just find Tracy's Crab Shack to be over rated for what it is.
I completely agree. We went last year and I wanted to go there as I heard it was THE place to get crab. My BF had the King Crab and it was really watery. I had the dungeness as it is my fave. I enjoyed it but the prices were OUTRAGEOUS. For the two of us it was almost $200 dollars. Not worth it in my opinion.

The ship rotates 360 degrees about 3-4 times when visiting Hubbard Glacier so whatever cabin you are in you will have a view of the glacier.

Glacier Wind is the BEST!

We were on Radiance last week and the shuttle was free. When we were there last year it was $5 though.
