  1. I am looking for pictures / copies of current wine lists and prices (from the specialty restaurants) onboard Anthem of the Seas. (Or perhaps you know where I could find these)?

In particular, I am looking for Vintages, Chops Grille, Wonderland, Jamie's Italian, and Izumi. I do realize most bottles can be purchased from the restaurant even if it is not listed on their menu.

I appreciate any and all help!

    Kind regards,

    Michaela

  2. Since you mentioned Wonderland I'm assuming that you are on Harmony. Solarium Bistro is complimentary on Harmony so you can either pick smother restaurant or switch to the 4 night package.

Sorry Bob, quoted the wrong person. Meant to quote Heartcruzs.

Thank you for the info! I did not realize Solarium Bistro was complementary on Harmony.

  3. I've never cruised on any RC ship alone, and I've often wondered what that would be like for me. My hubby has always vacationed with me, but sometimes I think about doing a "shorty" for 3-4 days just to relax and clear my head. Not certain that I'd want to do a lengthy mega-ship sailing by myself, though...LOL

I'm just curious about what cruising solo is like for those who have done it. What RC ship(s) did you sail and did you enjoy it? Would love to hear your responses! ;)

I have sailed many times as a solo passenger. I love it! (I agree that the experience is what you make of it).

I've met so many people that have become wonderful friends. (We even have reunion cruises with each other).

    Definitely try it out!

  4. All of you are my heroes! I read everything you post and I am hoping for some wonderful advice and help.

My fiancé, son and I are traveling on Oasis for my son’s birthday. My SO (significant other) has NEVER stepped foot on a cruise ship before and given how much my son and I adore cruising, we are tightly keeping our fingers crossed he loves it as much as we do..I would like a future with him that includes lots of adventures cruising. This trip means so much to me!

I have booked us a crown loft suite (17th floor), we are on the side of the ship that overlooks the ocean. I just didn’t think for me I would want the noise of the sports zone but I can see how the people watching could be fun. I have done a grande suite before but never this room. Our stops are Haiti, Jamaica and Mexico. Can I have some advice either to any of my questions or unsolicited advice is also awesome.

    1. When we board, is the costal kitchen open at 1:00 pm for lunch? The buffet on level 11 is a bit much for me. Any other better lunch ideas for first day?

Definitely check out Park Cafe. Their roast beef sandwiches are quite good. I love their soups, make-your-own salads, and their cream puff desserts are bite size heaven.

    2. Is there a “sailing away” party on the deck? I have always (making frown face) stayed in my room when we set sail but I like the idea of going on deck for some fun if they offer it??

There is a sail away party on deck. If it's inclement weather, they move it inside to the promenade. Else, pool deck it is! As you'll be in a crown loft suite, you'll have access to an exclusive Suite only outdoor deck. (Another option).

    3. Haiti, we booked a cabana last cruise a few years ago but they are saying to wait until we get onboard. But I do recall talking/email to a concierge prior to boarding to book it??

Yes. The concierge can help you.

    4. We got the drink package, hope that is a good idea. Last time I did the wine package by the bottle and it appears they no longer offer that?

They do still offer the wine package, but in my opinion, you can get better wine at Vintages than what is on the wine package menu.

    5. Tips for Chops steak house?

If you like shrimp cocktail, this is the place for you. I've only seen larger "prawns" when I lived in Australia. (They are quite large, and very delicious).

If you're celebrating anything, let them know!

If you have the alcohol package, they do not need to see your card right away - they'll settle at the end.

    6. Booked Cinnamon hill for golf, but I have heard if not enough people sign up it could be canceled. Anyone tried this excursion?

I have not booked this excursion.

    7. My SO was bringing his Tux, is that still acceptable on formal nights?

    Absolutely!

    8. Tipping…how to get the best service?? I have had mixed experiences with service and wondering if a little tipping upfront helps?

I bring a lot of $1's with me on cruises. Every time I head up to the bar, I have a $1 folded in my hand on the other side of my seapass. I don't wave it around, but notice that service tends to be quicker when they see cash. They tend to check on us more often, and go out of their way to help us. We also are friendly and smiley, which doesn't hurt service either.

I will take any advice you wonderful folks have. Thank you for helping my little family!!

    Have a wonderful cruise!

    :)

  5. Instead of paying the one-way fee with the car rental agencies, I've found it cheaper to park offsite and take the shuttle to the port.

The shuttles run from the fenced-in parking lot every 10-15 minutes. I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a shuttle, whether I'm headed to the ship or returning from it.

  6. With so many repeat cruisers on this thread I'm curious about your first cruise.

    1. What do you remember most about your first cruise? What made it special?

    2. What makes you keep cruising?

3 What is it about RCI that makes you return to their ships time and again?

I remember how amazing the service was on Grandeur of the Seas (March 2005).

I keep cruising because you can see so many different places in such a short amount of time. I can keep a tally of where I would like to go, outside of a cruise vacation. (Or keep going back time and time again each cruise I take).

On my first cruise, during a shore excursion, I saw how poorly passengers were being treated on a competitor cruise line as they got back onto the ship. (I was shocked since we had received such wonderful service on our cruise). I made a note that I would not want to sail on that particular cruise line just based on first impressions.

I also met my husband, a fellow passenger, onboard Radiance of the Seas in October 2010. Royal Caribbean will always hold a special meaning in our hearts because of this.

  7. My mom and I sailed on Allure of the Seas for my 30th birthday, and I received a call from my TA a week before we sailed - offering to upgrade us to a Junior Suite for a nominal price.

I knew my mom could not afford to help pay for the upgrade, and I realized that we may never get another opportunity like this. I called back the next day and paid the fee.

My mom was so incredibly happy when she found out about the upgrade. We both shrieked walking into the room, and continued doing so with every door we opened and corner we turned. :D

  8. I have had the opportunity to reside in all three - Boardwalk, Central Park and Oceanview balconies onboard Oasis and Allure of the Seas.

I will never again stay in a Boardwalk balcony - we were above Johnny Rockets and every hour they had a song and dance that we heard inside the cabin, and outside. Additionally, the light "pollution" from the big screen tv's were enough to wake the dead. (Even with the blackout shades)....

I enjoyed the Central Park balcony - the beautiful twinkle lights, the distant sounds of dogs barking, birds and crickets chirping (all played via the exterior speakers in Central Park), and how quiet it was at night.... While staying in the CP balcony - we did hear a bit of noise from the pool areas during the day.

I love Oceanview balconies for obvious reasons - the beauty and sound of the water, privacy, watching the flying fish, etc.

The Oasis cruise my husband and I are booked on in October 2015 is in a CP balcony. It was on a major sale through my TA (only $1 more than an interior stateroom) - we couldn't imagine spending so much more for an Oceanview balcony.

With all that said, I do continue to check daily if rates fall on the Oceanview balconies on our upcoming cruise....

Good luck with your decision! And enjoy your cruise!

  9. Good day to all!

I booked a cruise last week, and went in to update my profile (address) and preferences (onboard, gift and upgrade) and ran into problems.

    - My new home address and onboard preferences won't save. (Once I click 'Save' it brings me to My Cruises Welcome page. When I click back to either profile or onboard preferences, my previous notations are not there).

    - Nothing to choose for gift preferences or upgrade preferences - it shows my C&D Tier and C&A Points only.

I do not believe it to be my browser, and I have tried from multiple browsers (Chrome and IE) on my laptop and (Safari) on my cell phone.

Any ideas on how I can update my profile and preferences?

Thank you in advance for your help!

  10. Congratulations on booking your first cruise!

I remember my first cruise in 2005.... As you can see in my signature, I've been on many cruises since then!

We had so much fun on the cruise, we didn't read the cruise compass to determine that our luggage had to be outside our staterooms by a certain time on the last night of the cruise. I was in a panic as I packed everything (just in time).

I wish you the best on your upcoming trip! Enjoy!
