  1. Ok, I know this shipped has sailed but I could not help myself. Could you please, pretty please post here whenever you are cruising and where? I would like to specifically avoid those cruises, I dont want my husband vomitting in his own mouth. Geez. Talk about weirdos. Open minded? Are you serious? You look ridiculous. Yes RIDICULOUS. And FYI if most of the population agrees, well then we're right. How dare you make others have to see this? That is offensive.

MUST we go there yet AGAIN? deadhorse.gif

She is gross. We can all see she is gross. We have seen over and over how gross she is. She likes how gross she is. HE likes how gross she is.

They are strange, and gross, and obviously into their grossness.

Can we just let them be gross and move on b'c now I have vomitted in my own mouth YET AGAIN over this picture. How dare YOU bring it up again??

    Thanks a lot.

This is from the first formal night on the AOS. These most interesting part of the dress (flared hem and small train) can't be seen in the picture.

Gorgeous dress, love the color, but you were daring wearing a dress with a train on a cruise! I can't tell you how many trains I saw getting stomped on when we cruised and accidentally also I stepped on the sweep train of a woman as we were getting off the elevator, oops. I alpologized and was about to help her check for damage and she actually was screaming at me in whatever language she spoke, she was pointing and gesturing like a wild woman. I walked away and ignored her. Maniac. I felt like saying what the heck do you expect dragging that thing behind you like that in this crowd.

Did you have any trouble with your train?

  3. The following two lines, the opening two lines of my reply, are full of useless facts ...

Feeling guilty about those two line, I then decided to provide some useful information.

Yeah, I kinda thought your reply started off with a bit of smart-a$$ed-ness, but you sure redeemed yourself with the rest of the answer. I KNEW you knew that the 1st two lines were pretty elementary and not what the folks were asking. Nice of you to rethink that and provide some great information. Very, very cool. cool-045.GIF

  4. Cuizer2 - thanks for the information. Yes, Jungle Jane - this is exactly what I was looking for - so I appreciate you both chiming in. Basically, as I said, I have never cruised below Deck 8 so I wanted to be sure that 6 wasn't a deck where you feel more movement, have a bad or obstructed view on the balconies or that kind of thing. Thanks again!

I was all over that ship and I've said before the only place I felt movement was sitting at dinner in the dining room on deck 3 (aft) and sitting waaaay down front in the Arcadia Theatre, also on deck 3 (forward) So if you are at all sensitive to motion-I really really am- then try to avoid being seated on deck 3 for dinner-can't remember the name of that dining room-and when seeing shows or going to bingo or whatever, don't sit waaaaaay down in front in the Arcadia, stay up a bit toward the back/higher area of the theatre.

    ENJOY Freedom of The Seas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Okay, I held off for as long as I could. But with two in a row I just could not hold off any longer ...

Your cabin is an E2 balcony cabin located between decks five and seven and between cabins 6312 and 6316.

Your cabin is an E1 balcony cabin located between decks six and eight and between cabins 7296 and 7300.

Okay, with that out of the way, here goes ...

6314 has cabins above it and public space below it. The public space below looks like the shore excursion desk. It is not likely to be very noisy (as compared to being above the disco) but it will not be as quiet as a cabin on decks seven, eight or nine, which have cabins above and below.

6314 is on the starboard (right) side and fairly close to the rear elevators without being too close. That is good. It is also mid ship. That is also good. An E2 cabin is a little smaller than a D1 cabin. Basically you will have less room between the end of the bed and the wall in an E2 than in a D1.

7298 has cabins above and below. That is good. It is an E1 cabin. Best I can tell, the difference between an E1 and an E2 is an E2 does not have a third bed while the E1 cabins do (or connect to one that does). In your case it is a bed that comes out of the ceiling. If you have three in your cabin then this is perfect. If you only have two in your cabin, and someone needs a cabin with three beds, Royal Caribbean might move you.

7298 is also on the starboard side and is mid ship. That is good. However, you have a longer walk to the elevators. You will have to decide how you feel about that.

For both of you, most people consider the "hump" balconies to be more desirable. The reason is they stick out a little and thus provide a better view and a little more privacy. The "hump" cabins are the ones on where the ship is a little wider.

On deck six the hump cabins on the starboard side are 6332 through 6346 with 6338 and 6340 being the best of the bunch. All of the "hump" cabins are E2 cabins.

On deck seven the hump cabins on the starboard side are 7332 through 7346 with 7338 and 7340 being the best of the bunch. All of these are E2 cabins.

An E2 cabin on deck six costs the same as an E2 cabin on deck seven which costs the same as an E2 cabin on deck eight. A "hump" E2 cabin cost the same as a non-hump E2 cabin. So, if one of the hump cabins is available, you could move to one of the hump cabins if you want. If you are already in an E2 cabin the price would be the same. If you are in an E1 cabin and there are only two of you, the price would be a little less ($20 I believe). If there are three of you, do not move to an E2 cabin.

While I was not in a balcony cabin on the Freedom (I was in the RFS) I was in a side facing balcony cabin on the Navigator of the Seas (which is just slightly smaller than the Freedom). I was on the port side (left) and I was in a D2 cabin (which is a little wider than an E2 cabin). I was not in a "hump" cabin (I will be when I cruise on the Mariner next year). The cabin was fine. I had no complains.

If you are going on the Western Caribbean itinerary, the ships docks in Miami with the starboard side facing the dock. In Labadee the view from either side is equally good. In Ocho Rios the ship will likely dock with the starboard side facing the island. In Grand Cayman the view on the left side is perhaps a little more interesting. In Cozumel it really depends on how the captain feels. When we were in Cozumel the port side was facing the island.

Why would you "hold off"? I think you gave a ton of useful info and it's probably exactly what the people who asked were looking for in an answer. Why the hesitation to answer??

    confused-29.gif

  6. What I can tell you about decks 6 and 7 and 8 is that they are all very quiet, at least toward the back half of the ship. Deck 8 has the internet area, just quiet folks sitting at computers, Deck 7 has the library, a few people always sitting and quietly reading or perusing the shelves of books, deck 6 had a conference room of some sort that was never used that we saw. All of these areas were soooooooooo quiet, which was nice. We were on 7, sandwiched between the quiet floors. We were just far enough from the elevators (7660) that we couldn't hear all the hustle and bustle on the stairs or elevators at stampede time, but were close enough that we didn't have to walk a million miles to get to our room.

  7. I'll wade in for the snorkeling (must remember to get some water shoes for DD), and then later, if I want to get in the water, I'll get in the pool! :D

That's what I figured when I was there also, but we were pretty disappointed in the pool. It is very small and was pretty dirty looking when we were there so we skipped it. No one else went in either, so I don't think it was just our group that wasn't crazy about the looks of the pool.

Once you get into the water and past the rocky area it was really nice clear water, so warm and blue :)

We weren't allowed to wear our water shoes for snorkeling--our guide told us that the water shoes could damage the coral, but couldn't the same be said for the fins??? They had us wear our water shoes to walk down the beach b'c the sand was very rough with lots of sharp shards of rock and shells and was very hot. We walked down the beach so we could snorkle with the current which would take us back down to the P U beachfront. Once we got to the next pier area they had us get into the water and we all put our water shoes into the rescue kayak. We put on our fins and stuff when we were in the water and got our shoes back when we were finished snorkeling and were back on the P U beach.

I really loved the snorkeling and kayaking experience here, don't get me wrong. Love love loved it. But as I've said if I were going for the beach experience only, I'd have been disappointed.

    Enjoy Playa Uvas :)

  8. The beach is rocky not a tropical sandy beach. More like New England beaches.

Agree the beach is very rocky, have to disagree with it being like New England beaches...I've lived here all my life and have yet to see a beach area here that is as rocky as that place was! Yes, the coast is very rocky in areas, but most of our actual beaches are clear of rocks and sandy.

  9. Of course you can add to your collection... if you want me to see if I have a higher-resolution copy let me know and I can email it to you.

    That would be great :)

Mail to Len Jane Yobi At Yahoo Dot Com

    No spaces of course.

Thanks again so very much :)

stdatwmu, may I please have permission to add one of these pics to my collection of Uvas pics? As I mentioned I only have the one beach pic of my daughter b'c I used all the pics on the disposable camera underwater, and the pic of the chairs in the seating area under the canopy is EXACTLY where we sat to eat. I always wished I would have gotten a pic of that area and your pic is exactly what I would have liked to have gotten.

The pic would only be added to my personal collection of our cruise pics.

Let me know if you're ok with my snagging it.

    Thanks!

  11. I know this is a stupid question, but Does anyone know where you get ice cream besides ben and jerry's?

SPRINKLES on the pool deck, it's toward the right as you head out the revolving door to the pool area. It's softserve, the vanilla is low fat frozen yogurt but doesn't taste low fat, the choc is high-test. I liked the "twist". Despite the name there weren't any sprinkles LOL! The line is usually LONG and sometimes they run out of cones! We saw dirty children pouring it into their hands and then washing their hands off in the H2O zone! Gross.

There are 2 sides to the machine but they only ever had one side open/running when we were there. We'd grab a cone once or twice a day as a prize for taking the stairs and walking the decks ;) They're pretty small but it totally hits the spot. :p

  12. There weren't too many people on the ship excursion on our trip - maybe 20 or so? But wait until you see the looks on the faces of the excursion people when they all get served a fruit plate after snorkeling and you're sitting there with a great big plate of yummy grilled fish or fajitas and all the drinks you want.:D

LOL We didn't even get served a fruit plate-we were pointed in the direction of a table where some bananas and stuff were, when we went to look there were flies on everything. No thanks!

As I've said before, we went strictly for the snorkeling and clear kayaks and it was just me and DD, first time for both of us so we felt safer going with ship's tour. Next time I'm in Coz I won't book thru ship, and I won't go to Uvas again, only because "been there, done that" and I'll want to see what else there is to see in Coz.

We were so busy snorkeling and kayaking that I only have 1 pic of the beach, and it was on a Kodak water camera at the end of the roll so it's cut off at the bottom. The pic shows what I mean when I say that had I been going for the beach itself I would have been very disappointed:

    WadingPlayaUvasCozumelMexico.jpg

But the underwater experience there was unbelievable, we were literally swimming within schools of fish like this:

    SwimmingwithfishCozumelMexico.jpg

And this is a very small conch compared to some we saw, but I could hold this one with one hand to take the pic:

  13. I just bought these 2 dresses for my formal nights. I'll post a pic of each on me when i try them on at home and take a few pics :) Please let me kno what you think....are they ok for formal nights?

i got them both at Macys...the black one has a criss cross back :)

I've seen your other pic...you will ROCK that blue :) Would have to see the black on...does black wash you out with your coloring? Probably not...pic please when you get a chance!

  14. Jungle Jane, thanks, everyone that has ever met her always remarks how classy she is inside and out (good upbringing). I have to agree with all of you that those OTHER dresses belong in a swingers club not on a cruise ship. My wife has 21 dresses packed for this next cruise and all are like the ones I posted, 5-7 formal gowns and the rest dressy casual. Here's a couple of others and some I don't have pictures yet as I bought her 8 new ones for this cruise.(needed lighter weight ones) Phil

Phil, you ROCK for making sure wifey has her pretty dresses! Many pretty dresses=happy wifey and when wifey is happy everyone is happy! You are a smart man :) You make a very nice looking couple!

  15. Here's a few of the Formal and not so formal my wife has worn on cruises. Phil

Phil you lucky dog, wifey is HOT! Love the dresses, I have a red one similar to hers!

See, this is a perfect example of having things properly covered but still looking S-E-X-Y. This woman in these dresses looks far sexier than the bag o' trash in the chains  could ever dream of looking.

Rock on Phil and Phil's wife!

  16. The more posts I read of yours, the more I like you. Seriously.

Since the "dress" comments are still happening... If Darth Vader was on a more, "open minded cruise," it is possible her dress did fit in and was tasteful for her cruise. If she was on a family cruise...well I can't put blinders on my boys, but I might try. Believe me, I am NOT a prude in any way.

The problem with putting your photo on the net is people are going to like and not like. It's their choice. Just like people may not like my formals. It is what it is. So if you put it out there people are going to comment and some are going to make some comments you don't like. Goes with the territory. Not liking a dress is not the same thing as not liking a person.

Although I see a lot of people making judgemental clothing comments, I've seen very little of people from CC, that I've met in real life being judgemental of other CCer's onboard ships. For all the opinions I've seen posted that shocks me. Of course *I* might be the one with blinders on :)

OH FOR CRIPES SAKE! I meant, DarkJedi and I posted Darth Vader. My excuse is that I have a sick kid with a horrible ear infection laying on me and looking terrible. I'm half attended on him and on the other kids and the dog is barking and I'm reading the boards...you get it. Sorry about that.

Jedi, Vader, same movie series, we knew whatcha meant ;)

I am no prude either, but the wearer has to know that people do not just go around in polite society wearing that stuff. Sure, you see more skin in a bikini, but at a pool or beach that is appropriate. Even is she did have the body for it and wasn't all white and lumpy cottage cheese-y it is still not appropriate attire for a family atmophere. They are obviously looking for attention and they have to realize that when it comes to attention seeking, you gotta take the good with the bad.

Now stop making me look at that picture! LOL!

It's gonna burn my retinas!

I'm gonna go back and admire Emmy's dress some more to wipe my retinas clean...

  17. I'm actually starting to worry about the beach. Some of the people who are going on this cruise with me also booked Uvas. They booked Uvas because I urged them to after reading reviews. I'm thinking that they may expect a white sandy beach to lay on. I don't want them to be dissapointed.

Josh, every time I see one of your posts that darn bug makes me jump!!!! LOL!
