  1. I feel your pain! I've had some awful experiences on cruise ships as a vegetarian. We're booked on Explorer in December so I'm hoping that since there are a large contingent of Brits on Marella cruises they will have a better knowledge of vegetarian food. I was once (long ago on a French run ship) served a plate of peas with tomato ketchup on top. But also, on Seabourn and Azamara I've had some delicious and innovative veggie meals.

  2. Cosmopolitans were chargeable but bar staff were able to use alternative ingredients so that they were free and just as nice. Hopefully they will still be able to do that.

I hope so, too! We always have at two a night!

  3. Cabin Number

    Ship

    Month/Year sailed

Following our recent cruise on Journey I submit the following for cabin 6043 on Journey

Would you choose this room again Y/N NO

Is noise an issue Y/N NO

    Balcony size Normal/Larger/Smaller N/A

Any other comments (keeping these succinct so the spreadsheet does not grow too much)

Tiny obstructed view cabin. Dark, not sufficient for two. No table or sofa. Would avoid if possible. Cruised on April 22 Journey Mumbai/Mumbai 20 days of cramped accommodation. Tiny bathroom.

  4. Now decompressing after the 14 hour flight back from Singapore. No matter how I try these long flights take me a while to recover. I would definitely do one of these cruises over Christmas and New Year again. A lot of fun and a good spirit onboard.

Overall I was very happy with the food on the ship. I ate in a number of different venues and never had a bad meal. I was very happy with the red wines on offer each day. I never had to ask for one from a previous day. They were all good. The Pinot Noir was delicious.

The crew and reimagined ships continue to make me want to come back to Azamara for more. As someone said above, it is addictive. Now to get ready for the next trip starting in Mumbai on the 22nd April and finishing in Barcelona on the 6th June. That will be my longest stint on the ship so far, but I know I will be taken good care of.

I completely concur with Phil regarding this cruise. It was our third cruise on Journey and we had a wonderful time. We've only been home four days and today booked for the Seychelles/Maldives cruise from Mumbai on 22nd April!

  5. Hi

We're on Journey sailing 23rd December from Singapore. On previous AZ cruises I've printed luggage tags off from online docs. However, there do not appear to be printable tags in the documentation this time, merely something that you can hand to a porter to print off and attach. Don't see why they have done this which is likely to cause some hold-ups when checking in. Anyone any ideas why they have done this?

    Thanks

  6. We have been allocated this cabin and I see from previous posts it's considered noisy, due to being opposite a storage area with lots of early morning activity! Does anyone have any current experience of this cabin? It was mentioned the noise issue was taken up with Azamara so I'm wondering if there has been any improvement. If not, may try to change! Thanks.

  7. Had booked EOS Barcelona to Dubai with flights included I.E. fly London to Barcelona and then return flight from Dubai to London, have now changed plans and we are joining the cruise at Southampton and doing back to back to Dubai.

So here is the point phoned RCI to amend flights in that we did not require the flight from London to Barcelona but wished to retain the flight back from Dubai now problem say Royal we can do that happy bunny now have another 7 days cruising and flight no extra cost.

Received e-mail to confirm details yes you guessed it return flight has changed to a later flight and different carrier.

Have just spoken to RCI again to be told that the reason the flight has now changed is that RCI can not guarantee that we would that we would make the original flight, as he put it it was outside RCI required parameters and RCI would have been changing the flights anyway. So a word of warning anyone else who is booked on the same cruise with flights back from Dubai beware.

We have booked with Iglu Barcelona to Dubai. Flying back on Virgin

What carrier and time do you have? Thanks. We haven't been notified of any flight changes.

  8. my wife and I are thinking about a costa cruise /Miami to Trieste, never been on costa before.can experienced cruisers tell us what the differences we will find compared to princess and celebrity s class. we always have a balcony.

I don't expect to much info about the food as it is subjective, but mainly about their ships and services.also do they do drink packages, and are they steadfast on grauities.

    thank you in advance

We've done several Costa cruises and sailed on most of the larger lines. I would say Costa are excellent value for money. As previously mentioned the charges are added to your account. In my experience the Italian passengers make for a very lively cruise. Always up on deck and partying hard! We don't often do the shows but the few we've seen on Costa were as good as, if not better, than on other lines. Service was excellent and the drinks packages amongst the best anywhere. Announcements are a nuisance sometimes as they contain so many languages, but we got used to it very quickly. All in all I heartily recommend Costa. For the money they would be hard to beat.

  9. Roll calls are undoubtedly quieter and in some cases non existent. But could that be because the main forum is more intimate than the vast majority.

We met people from the forum on our first Seabourn cruise so they do work but some of those people knew us from posts in this section rather than meet and mingle.

    Henry :)

I'll have to post more on the 'general' boards, then, Henry. Fingers crossed!

  10. Welwyngirl, I went to the Odyssey roll call feature, since I also have one set up for responses, and could not easily find yours. Could this be a factor? I tend to think what works is a subject line defining ship, dates, and emb/disemb ports. But then, maybe you've already erased it... V.

I couldn't find the correct roll call initially either, Ithaca, didn't realise it was titled 'Kingdoms of the Sun'. I agree with having a definite subject line but it seems there are only one or two posts from each person and then they stop! Probably for the same reason I have!

  11. We were on Azamara Journey last year with only 460 passengers and the roll call was extremely lively. A similar cruise this year on Journey, also a small ship, is equally busy. I think several factors account for fewer or more posts. Given up on our next roll call. Just hoping there are some friendly people when we're onboard!

  12. We're on the Odyssey in less than two weeks. I keep going onto the roll call in the hope of 'meeting' some fellow passsengers, and have posted several times but received no responses.

I don't think its purely because Europeans don't post so much (as intimated in previous posts). Obviously, there are far fewer cruisers from the UK than the US due to population. I was on Azamara last year and the roll call was so lively and informative. I'm also hoping we'll make friends that we can have a drink and chat with sometimes.

  13. I would just like to add that my husband and I have often been the only (or almost only) Brits onboard certain cruiseships. We've also done lots of different American land tours, too. We had no problems whatsoever on any trip. We booked sometimes with American TAs or directly with American companies. We were quite a novelty but there's quite a few Americas who now know a few cockney songs and I know all the words to The Star Spangled Banner. At least we all speak pretty much the same language. On some European ships (Costa, MSC etc) we've had to listen to the same announcement in 5 languages! Just a thought!

  14. NOT SURE IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED IN NON-BALCONY CABINS - BUT HERE GOES ANYWAY!!

    Deck - 9

    Cabin # - 9336

    Class – ?

Starboard or Port Side - STARBOARD MIDSHIPS

    Bed near?(balcony or bath) – N/!

Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – NO UNDUE NOISE WAS HEARD

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – INSIDE CABIN SO N/A

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - N/A

    Was wind a problem? N/A

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? NONE

Any other comments? We usually book inside cabins as we travel so much and find it a huge saving - we like being 'up top' anyway. We were very impressed with the cabins in this class and in this price range. They were spacious compared to most other cruise lines and very well laid out. Particularly liked the space in the bathroom - lots of cupboard and draw space. Would thoroughly recommend these cabins if not looking for a balcony. Hope this helps!
