This thread is great. Any chance of seeing more pics of the MDR and buffet foods? We'll be first-time Norwegians this fall, a family on a budget, and probably won't be doing the specialties this time around, so we are naturally interested more in seeing what we're likely to see more of.
Thank you, glad everyone enjoys.
This weekend is a little hectic, but I promise MDR pics in my next post. Don't have a lot but will post what we have.
Watch for updates.

One night we went to Moderno (the Brazilian steakhouse). Our server was a very sweet young lady named Liberty. She was very nice and helped make the evening fabulous.
Note: Bring your appetite and don't fill up at the salad bar which would be very easy to do!:p
Small sample from salad bar
The sides
Chicken. SOOOO Good! Juicy and nicely seasoned.
Sausage. Was good, but save yourself for the better stuff later.
BBQ ribs. I passed because I knew they wouldn't compare to mine. DW said they were good.

I have photos of every meal both my DH and I have ever had on board during our 15 NCL cruises - if you have a certain "request" just ask me. If I ever tried it, then I probably have a picture of it as well.... :p
This is one of my favorites - the rack of lamb at Le Bistro.
Are you kidding? We want them all! :p
Nice pics, thanks for posting!

Hi All!
Leaving tomorrow for Miami and hope to come back with tons of food pics!
To those who have recently cruised, how about sharing some pics with the rest of us?
Thanks again to all those that have already shared.
Safe travels to all

Our bar bill at the end
Non-smokers who complain about our smoking

No, a mule is pretty safe.
They don't squawk, they're too big for the oven, & they're not a delicacy such as a Norwegian Blue parrot.
Or did I mis-understand?
JB :)
We took our Norwegian Blue on vacation once but it just sat there "pining for the fjords". :p

We always take pictures on deck beside a life preserver with the ship's name. (You'll find one). It's fun to look back and watch our son growing up. Maybe you can do that?

Love this idea! Wish we did it from the start!
For us, it's cocktails and appetizers on our balcony for sailaway and a bottle of Dom Perignon on our last night to celebrate a great cruise and plan our next one.

If you like mixed drinks, you can save money by ordering the drink of the day and also save more money if you request it not be brought in the souvenier plastic cup that they automatically bring it in.
If you like beer, they do have bucket specials and get one free.
This is an excellent point!
The shops will have liquor tastings. Go get as much as you can saying things like "that was different, can I have another?". That way you don't look greedy.
Also, you can get free sparkling wine just for hanging out at the art auction.
Hope this helps.
Enjoy!

We have not step foot on a NCL, but when we do, we earn 21 points (Gold) next year. 7 for 7 day cruise, 7 for booking a suite, and 7 for booking more than 9 months out. If seeing is believing, we will have 3 parties..:D
Points are not accrued until you have completed your cruise.
You will be treated special because you are in a suite. (we know it well :D)

Hello,
We always do excursions through the ship. A little more $ but, we like the guarantee of not missing the ship if something happens.
DW and I really enjoyed the "Best of St. Thomas" tour. A good combination of shopping and sightseeing without too much strenuous walking. Plus you get to stop off at the Mountain Top. Home of the banana daiquiri with spectacular views and some shopping.
At the end they will drop you off (if you want) at "Paradise Point" which is right across the street from the port mall. Take a tram ride to the top, have a Baileys Bushwacker and enjoy the views! Truly worth it.
On the other hand, we did not care for the St. John Island Tour. No time for shopping and the only sightseeing was mountain views of beaches. Not worth the 45 min ferry ride each way.

Enjoy your cruise! -
So there is a cruise critic article about butlers and the following was on it for Norwegian:
" Who Gets It: Norwegian Cruise Line offers 24-hour butler service for all cruisers staying in suites.
What They Do: The International Institute of Modern Butlers oversees Norwegian's Butler Training program. These well-trained individuals assist passengers with priority embarkation/debarkation; unpacking and repacking garments; shoe shines; delivering liquor, wine and beverages; delivering DVD's and CD's; and filling/emptying hot tubs and bathtubs. Norwegian's butlers also help with delivery of flowers, personalized letters and stationery on embarkation day and during the cruise. They serve Champagne; ensure that fresh flowers, fruit baskets, sodas, water, newspapers and other amenities are set up properly and freshened as needed; set up private in-cabin cocktail parties; and take food orders and serve in-room breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner from any menu onboard, including the alternative dining venues.
Get This: Butlers on Norwegian ships are culled from the rank and file of the hotel department, based on their excellent customer service and positive consumer feedback. As a result, Norwegian's butlers retain a level of warmth and a service ethic that's hard to find on any other cruise line. Butler service on a Freestyle ship can make the big-ship cruising experience intimate, cozy and special. "
--------
So, some questions: it mentions newspapers--are there newspapers? Do Spa Suites get any sodas? Since these rooms are not in the Haven how accessible is the Butler? Is there one butler for all the Spa Suites? Anyone have your suitcase unpacked, then repacked? Would they actually go to, say, the outdoor grill venue ( can't remember the name but the one with the Cuban food) and bring one of everything back for s to split/share/taste? Seems silly but then again might be a relaxing way to lunch. If you do get served in your room have you found the food to stay hot? Actually, is there even room in a Spa Suite to eat?
Excellent post. Thanks for the info.

You're better off smuggling lobsters in your booze.
That way if they die, just wait a couple more days and you can have them pickled. :p

I'm sorry for your experience. It's happened to a lot of us. I think there are forum members for whom this is their entire social life (sadly), and when someone new "intrudes" it disrupts their sense of family or something. Oh, and people are jerks. There's that.FWIW, you just did exactly that in another thread. Irony keeps this place exciting though!

Like the irony of someone who has 459 posts in less than 2 months talking about "members for whom this is their entire social life (sadly),"?

In addition to the daily snacks, our butler brought the chocolate chip cookies, gummy bears and peanut M&Ms requested by my daughter. He also asked what we would like waiting when we returned from an excursion (we had no idea) and showed up with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. He brought my daughter the cheesecake brownie from Osheehans that she loved.
My stomach hurts just thinking about it - but it was all for my daughter, not for me..;)
The concierge got us priority disembarkation, priority access to Cirque Dreams, and a 7:30 table at a specialty restaurant that was showing no availability.
OMG. You can get peanut M&MS? Thank you for telling us. I don't need them everyday but sometimes I get a hankering for them and have always bought them to have in our penthouse stateroom.
Thank you!
